Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State Victoria Nuland is to arrive in Moscow late on Tuesday, a diplomatic source has told TASS.

"Today Victoria Nuland is in Brussels as part of the delegation of US Secretary of State John Kerry. She will arrive in Moscow by plane in the evening," the source said.

Nuland is expected to hold the scheduled meetings in Moscow on October 5.

The US State Department announced on Monday that Nuland would travel to Moscow "to meet with senior Russian government officials to discuss the situation in eastern Ukraine and next steps to implement the Minsk agreements in support of the Normandy countries and the Trilateral Contact Group."

Tension in Russia-US ties

Vladimir Putin on Monday submitted to the State Duma a bill on suspending the agreement with the United States on the disposal of redundant plutonium. The bill lists conditions on which the agreement could be resumed, including cancellation of the so-called Magnitsky Act, all anti-Russian sanctions with compensation of the damage, as well as reduction of US military infrastructure in NATO countries.

The two countries have also suspended their cooperation on Syria truce.
