The Indian Army on Thursday organised surgical strikes targeting seven terror launch pads across the LoC overnight in which heliborne and ground forces were used. Addressing a press conference, DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said India inflicted "significant casualties" on terrorists and those who are trying to support them.
This is latest in the string of offensives India has launched against Pakistan since four attackers killed 19 soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri when they targetted the rear office of an Indian Army infantry installation on September 18. India has resorted to several diplomatic measures and vowed to internationally isolate Pakistan ever since.
To call the shooting and bombing of postions held by Pakistani security forces in azad ( free ) Jammu and Kashmir as 'surgical strike on terrorists' is an insult to the truth. The result is a few Pakistani soldiers dead, increased tension between the two countries, more Kashmiri hatred for the occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India and a telling sign that Indian has no wish for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue. India's new tactics of mimicking Israel in trying to crush the will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to be a free state will not work. India is no Israel nor is Jammu and Kashmir any thing like Palestine geo-politically. Labelling people resisting occupation of their land as terrorists will not work. Indian politician must recognise that ordering attacks across into Pakistani territories is utter madness and extremely dangerous. Pakistan is a nuclear armed country and eye for eye tactics will lead to mutual destruction on an epic scale.
