Saudi Arabia freaking out about U.S. 'think-tanks' in Qatar makes sense now. If Putin's right, the only way the U.S. can hurt Russia economically is via Saudi Arabia's oil. So the safest thing for the U.S. to do would be to get control of it in order to increase production and cut prices. This would hurt Russia, but it would also hurt Saudi Arabia. So for the Saudis to agree to it, they'd need a compliant Western-style technocratic government in place. This means 'regime change' using the very jihadists Saudi Arabia created to serve America's regional needs for the past 30 years! I see major betrayal coming down the pipeline...
