I was standing outside of the car waiting for my wife to get off work. I saw what I thought was an airplane. The plane was traveling straight towards me in a westerly direction.

There is an airport some 10 miles away, so I thought I was watching a plane. I noticed the sound of the engine was not that of a normal aircraft.

It had 3 lights in a triangle pattern - one green light in front, and two red lights in the back. All three lights were flashing slowly.

It got closer and I noticed the sound and saw the lights. As it got directly above me it vanished along with the sound.

I have been watching planes come and go while waiting for my wife, and I have never seen a plane travel this route so low and in this direction. The feeling I got after I saw this was very shocked, because I had never seen a plane suddenly shut off all of its lights and engine sound too. It baffled me.

I have also seen lights that seem to keep their distance from me, but also seem to follow me. I will drive to Tampa and pick up my 2 sons and have a light some distance away from me, but travel along with me like (it) thinks that I do not notice this thing off in the distance keeping up with me.

It has done this to me more than a couple of times. It looks like a star, but it's way too bright to be a star and stars do not fly ahead of you about a couple of miles and sit there until you catch up, and then take off another couple miles ahead and sit and wait for you.
