Dozen flying balls of orange light over Dickinson, North DakotaDate: July 4, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Hi, I just saw at least a dozen or so of what I Googled as 'flying balls of light,' because that's the way I'd describe them too. They were flying from the SW to the NE over the Heart River. I saw them as I stood on the deck overlooking the river while up at the sky while watching people's 4th of July fireworks going off around Dickinson, ND tonight, around 10:00 to 11:00pm.
The balls of light were all traveling in the same general direction, all going more or less the same speed. Their speed was fairly steady and somewhat slow, and clearly parallel to the ground, not arced as though they were falling objects, like meteors. But they were fiery, like meteors. I can't imagine what they were. They were too low to be airplanes, and they were all higher than the fireworks. Their lights were also too large, round, orange, and steadily lit to be helicopters- they didn't have any blinking lights with them at all like aircraft would be expected to have.
And, I couldn't hear any noise associated with them, not even those which flew nearly overhead. Even if they were hot air balloons, wouldn't they have sounded like hot air balloons? But they were completely silent. Never the less, hot air balloons seem to be the best explanation of them, although I don't really think that's what they were. Their color was orange, as though the light came from a fire and they were each fairly large and very round. But I think hot air balloon fires come on and off, and I think they're audible.
Anyway, these were all silent, although I could hear aircraft, and see blinking lights from what were clearly planes passing in the far distance.
There were sometimes 3 or 4 of these globes traveling within a fairly small distance of one another, all going in the same direction, but coming from different spots over the horizon of houses and trees spread out maybe some two miles apart. They came steadily on, minutes apart from one another, for nearly an hour. When I realized there were more coming I went inside and got my camera. Although it was hard holding the camera steady, so their light is pretty squiggly, you can get an idea of the color of them, and the ones that were closer show up pretty bright and large.
Have you heard any explanations of them?
2 amber glowing objects over Whitehouse, OhioDate: July 4, 2010
Time: 10:10 p.m. to 10:30
Location of Sighting: Whitehouse Ohio.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 2
Shape of Objects: Small triangular.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: We were standing outside watching the neighborhood fireworks when my husband spotted 2 weird lights coming over the top of a neighbors house and I turned to look. I saw two amber glowing type objects moving at equal distance apart at a slow steady speed. It seemed to be under the clouds, rather low.
They continued to pass overhead towards the North at the same speed and distance apart. We watched several minutes until they disappeared, we assume into the clouds. My husband said the objects appeared to have tentacle like things from it, but I could not see that, they looked like a small triangular object with rather rounded edges. I am totally in awestruck.
Egg-shaped ufo with rays of light seen over Medina, OhioDate: July 4, 2010
Time: Evening.
Hello there, my name is (name removed) and my husband and I live in Medina, Ohio (suburb of Cleveland). We were out in our backyard having a bon fire on July 4th, 2010, we had been outside for about an hour when my husband made me turn to the south of our backyard. What I saw was unbelievable!
There was a big bright amber color glow in the sky. It illuminated like a giant light bulb. It was almost egg shaped at the top and round towards the bottom, with a glow that surrounded the entire object, and two sets of light rays that shined downward off both sides of the object. This was closer then an airplane would be flying.
This is the first time either of us saw anything like this. We enjoy watching the night sky for UFO's, but we have never seen anything fly so close above us before. Not like this! We watched this object move slowly at first, almost the speed of a small prop aircraft, for about a full minute across the sky before it started to dim it's lights and then sped up moving from the southeast sky toward the northeast sky. It sped up so fast, it became distant and further up in the sky then any of our regular aircraft can reach.
This object became one with the stars when it's lights became to dim to see. We're not pilots, but we know what we saw!
If you have any further knowledge or info, please email me at (removed)
Thank you so much for making your post and request for anyone else who saw something similar. Sincerely.
Large orange-red fire-like ball east of Fredericktown, MissouriDate: July 4, 2010
Time: Between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
My husband and I sit out on our back deck just east of Fredericktown Missouri (about 50 miles west of the Mississippi river and 90 miles south of St. Louis). almost every night and watch the sky to spot meteorites and such. We see lots of planes and helicopters so we do know the difference. Up to now we've never seen anything we didn't recognize. Tonight we were watching fireworks in our area and I pointed to what I thought was a fire ball from fireworks.
It was south of us in the sky well above the trees. It was a big orange red fire like ball and we were waiting for it to explode. Instead, we saw it was moving up and toward us heading north. We waited for sound, but there was no sound coming from it. We watched the object move right over our back deck as it kept going north until it disappeared from view.
It looked like a round orange red fire ball floating over head at a steady speed. It was below cloud level and it was much bigger than any light from any planes we have ever seen. This was some time between 9:30 and 10:00pm central time.
It was such an odd experience I decided to look on the web in case anyone else had seen it. That's how I found your site. I'm glad to know other saw what we saw.
