A Virginia witness watched a teardrop-shaped object following in the vapor trail of a jet on June 12, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The object seemed to keep pace with the jet, but stayed a good distance behind, the witness stated. The object was shorter than the plane, but larger in diameter.

The object made a sudden "arc like climb," and then vanished.

This report is not uncommon - there have been some very similar reports of objects following jets in their vapor trail from the past year within the MUFON reports.

We live under the Eastern seaboard plane route. We always see planes at very high altitudes leaving trails as they fly past.

This evening, while sitting in the backyard, a plane caught my eye because the sky was so clear. I noticed that it was leaving a very short tail behind it. Where as they usually linger for hours in the sky. It was keeping pace and would move above, below and to the side of the plane but keeping a good distance behind. It moved above the plane's trail and then made a sudden and steep arc-like climb and vanished into thin air. Gone! There was not a cloud in the sky. The object was not reflecting light like the plane was. It seemed to be very opaque and very tear-dropped in shape.

It seemed much shorter than the plane, but much larger in diameter. It struck me as very strange because the object seemed to be following the plane as if tracking it.
