A Missouri witness at a remote location was startled in the early morning hours of June 8, 2010, when a "large ball of light" shot up out of the ground and hovered at about 80 feet in the air, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"I thought some idiot had set off a commercial firework and I was expecting an explosion," the witness stated.

But instead of acting like fireworks, the light "just hung motionless in the air approximately 3/4 mile away, and after a few seconds, the light dimmed and I could see a lighted disk, silvery color, with red, blue, and I believe green light that seem to be on the outer edge of the disk."

The object then began moving away and was soon obscured by trees.

Missouri, June 8, 2010 - Raised from ground fast. Stopped then slowly headed south-east from my position. MUFON Case # 23664.

I live about 3 miles North West from the nearest town, noted above. I went outside to let my dog out to do her thing at about 2:58 am.

As I was looking at the horizon I saw a large ball of light shoot straight up at high speed to approximately 80 feet. I thought some idiot had set off a commercial firework and I was expecting an explosion.

Instead it just hung motionless in the air approximately 3/4 mile away, and after a few seconds, the light dimmed and I could see a lighted disk, silvery color, with red, blue, and I believe green light that seem to be on the outer edge of the disk.

I soon realized it was moving away in a south-west direction from me slowly and soon I could only see the glow of the disk. It then started being blocked by the trees and other obstructions. I went back to bed. Had trouble going to sleep though.
