Witness Statement: At 21:47 I went into the kitchen to get a drink. I looked out of the window and saw a red/orange ball of flames over to the west of the town, past the A41/A49 bypass near to the welsh border. I observed the object slowly descend for about one minute. By this time my partner and her sister had come to the kitchen and were watching the object too. The ball of flames stopped its descent and came to a hover. A few seconds later the 'flame' appearance flickered out and a black object became visible. The object was quite large and angular in shape. This black object hovered for a few moments before it started to move again. It moved off to the west where we lost visibility due to it descending behind the tree line.

There was no noise and there were no other aircraft in the vicinity (we are used to having RAF training helicopters around Whitchurch from nearby RAF Shawbury but this was no helicopter, and certainly wasn't a chinese lantern) Did anyone else see this?
