Location of Sighting: Great Harwood, St.Hubert's Road
Date of Sighting: 3rd March 2010
Time: 18:40 approx

Witness Statement: Ok, I should really start by pointing out that I don't have any kind of belief in ghosts, god, aliens, etc in fact I am probably the most skeptical person you could ever wish to meet. I found this site because on Wed night I typed in google "plane on fire over Great Harwood" expecting to find some news feed of an aircraft in trouble because I was sure that was what I had just seen moments earlier.

I was walking with my wife on her way home from work and in the sky I saw a bright orange glow, which appeared to be fire. I then presumed an aircraft had caught fire and was looking for a place to land safely, as it didn't seem to be moving in any definite pattern. I was very worried but then it passed over our heads with NO SOUND, but a slight humming or pulsing sound was in my ears. Very hard to comprehend what it was. It stopped for a moment above us then moved off very quickly in a NW direction. I stayed there astonished for a moment and then it seemed to disappear, presumably behind clouds, although it was a very clear night. I read the chinese lantern section and it doesn't appear to explain what I saw. There was only one flying object, and the orange glow which looked like flames, were huge, when taking into account it's altitude. I fear now I have opened a can of worms for myself on this subject, because as I have already read, other people have described witnessing the same event over Blackburn and surrounding Lancashire and now I am more than intrigued. Did anyone else see it on Wed night???
