Location of Sighting: Norman's Bay, East Sussex
Date of Sighting: 16th December 2009
Time: Aprox 3pm

Witness Statement: Silver egg shaped object with orange light in centre spotted hovering under the clouds near the sea at Norman's Bay. It was directly over the railway crossing.

Best way to describe would be it looked like the eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings with a silver outline. It had this big beam of light coming out from the centre of it and made no sound when we tried getting closer to it.

It was probably only about 40ft off the ground and right below the clouds. It definitely wasn't a helicopter or a chinese lantern because once we got close to it, it flew off at a really sharp angle and straight into the clouds.

Strangely enough although the light was really bright when it was hovering near the ground, it was like it disappeared when it went into the cloud cover.

My colleague also spotted it whilst he was driving. We were coming from the Pevensey roundabout going towards the Star Inn.
