Time: 3.30pm approx

Witness Statement: What we saw this afternoon doesn't make much sense, but I'm gonna say it anyway. My daughter saw it first out of the car window - a motionless, silver cigar shaped (I know...I know...) object in the sky to the north. I looked out and saw it too, and when I realised it wasn't moving at all (it was over some roof tops and we could clearly see it wasn't going anywhere) I stopped the car - whereupon it started to move, very slowly at first, until gradually (bear with me over this) it became and behaved more and more like a conventional plane, eventually producing a vapour trail.

While we were looking, this totally random guy appeared out of the house that we were watching over, and proceeded to tell us his ufo story which was more than a little remarkable. As he talked, the thing just flew away as normal as any other plane in the sky - but I gotta say, I've never seen a plane that could stop in mid air without falling back to earth pretty quick...
