The UFO Traffic Report for Monday, July 20, 2009, includes 12 selected sightings over 8 states, according to witness statements filed in the past 72 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page. Colorado, July 18, 2009 - Bright White Object; Lakewood, CO. MUFON Case
# 18176.
Two Colorado witnesses "saw a very bright white object traveling north to south" near Lakewood and five minutes east of Bear Creek Park. The object was moving "just over the rooftops of the apartment buildings," at about "about 150 knots." The object stopped momentarily, then "performed a few quick squiggles" before it disappeared.
Pennsylvania, July 18, 2009 - Pink Chevron trailed by two smaller white lights. MUFON Case
# 18175.
Two Pennsylvania witnesses watched a "hazy pinkish" colored chevron-shaped object moving across the sky. The object "was trailed by two small white pinpoints that looked like stars but were moving at the same speed and direction as the first craft, but at a higher altitude. The event lasted 30 seconds.
Michigan, July 19, 2009 - 2 triangles attached by 2 lights. MUFON Case
# 18174.
Not much testimony to go on here, but a Michigan witnesses simply reports two triangles "attached by two lights" that flew over their back yard.
Nevada, July 18, 2009 - 3-14 points of dancing white lights visible for ~45 minutes. MUFON Case
# 18169.
Two Nevada witnesses walking near Virginia Lake, Reno, watched between 3 and 14 lights in the sky at various times over a 40 to 50-minute period. "The lights each lasted for several seconds to several minutes and moved in smooth arcing patterns erratically back and forth within a a fist sized (at arms length) area of the sky."
Nebraska, July 18, 2009 - circular light. MUFON Case
# 18165.
A group of eight Nebraska witnesses saw what at first appeared to be "a plane engulfed in flames in the sky just to the north of their house," but then realized that the object was not moving. As the object then moved further away, it no longer looked like it was on fire, but simply had a "reddish tint." The object then rose very quickly into the sky and disappeared. Then about 20 to 30 minutes later, a second object "appeared as a ball of flames rising in the sky," also stopping to hover momentarily before moving along east in the same pattern as the first object. The second object also began to rise and then disappeared from view.
Indiana, July 18, 2009 - 2 objects, or one object passing by twice in Elkhart, Indiana area. MUFON Case
# 18163.
An Indiana witness reports that an "object emerged from a wooded area across from an apartment complex and ascended in altitude." The object "traveled from the northeast to ESE" of the witnesses' position. The object was described as a "luminescent color very similar to the amber color of common streetlights." The witness says the object then changed course "and traveled away from the planet until it was no longer visible." A second object passed over about a minute or two later.
This next report is from a second witness to this case.
Indiana, July 18, 2009 - 2 objects. MUFON Case
# 18164.
This Indiana witness watched a "fireball like object" coming from the north and moving slowly west. The object then "darted" southeast and disappeared. About two minutes later, a second object also appeared from the north and headed west, although there was a "white beam appeared from the top" of the object.
Texas, July 18, 2009 - object hovering below severe storm cloud top then lifted into cloud as jet approached. MUFON Case
# 18160.
A Texas witness watching a storm pass "noticed a round object hovering below a cloud top to the thunderstorm." The witness said it appeared to be a "black dot standing out against the cloud and lightning." The object also appeared to be spinning. In addition to the black color, the witness said there was a second color "nearly the color of a flame or copper." The object then lifted up into the clouds and the flame color disappeared.
Illinois, July 18, 2009 - Looked like a black upside down egg. MUFON Case
# 18159.
This Illinois witness standing outside the Alsip Home Depot parking lot at 122nd and Cicero, saw a "black object moving under the clouds" that appeared like it was about to move overhead. As the object came closer, the witness said it "was larger on the top than on the bottom" like an upside down egg. The witness said "there were no rotor blades or wings of any kind. It was totally silent and maintained the same level the entire time." The object was watched until it moved out of sight.
Michigan, July 17, 2009 - saw triangle formation of 3 pulsating orbs over cornfield or lake. MUFON Case
# 18155.
A Michigan witness who was a passenger in her boyfriend's car as they drove home from Battle Creek on Union Road and traveling southeast, saw "three extremely bright white pulsating orbs in a triangle formation." She estimates the lights were less than one-half mile away and no more than 300 to 500 feet off of the ground. She said she could see sky between the lights, so is not sure if she was looking at multiple objects or a single object.
Texas, July 18, 2009 - Observed what looked like a large, round spotlight, high in the morning sky. MUFON Case
# 18152.
A Texas witness noticed a Bright Light in the sky that was almost directly overhead. "The object appeared to be a perfectly round, white glowing disk, at least 3 times the size of Venus at its closest and brightest, if not larger. It looked like a huge spotlight, high up in the sky. From my perspective and with the naked eye, it was the size of a .22 pellet. With 7x35mm binoculars it appeared the size of a very large pea. No extraneous lights observed." The silent object was lost from sight once obscured by clouds. The witness estimates the object was at about 50,000 feet.
Illinois, July 19, 2009 - orange glowing lantern shaped object passes silently overhead in a zig-zag patttern. MUFON Case
# 18177.
This southern Illinois witness reports multiple sightings, including a "rectangle orange glowing lantern shaped object" darting out from behind trees, a silent "squarish, disk shaped flying object" about 150 feet in the air, and a "rectangle object, with blue and green lights" hovering by a tower. This witness has never seen any of these types of objects before and is a little worried.
