Date of Sighting: 08/07/09
Time: 9.30pm ish

Witness Statement: I live in Southend Essex and I was outside having a smoke about 9.30pm last night and noticed an orange bright light thought it was a helicopter coming towards me from the west then it got closer but didn't make a sound so I thought wtf is it? So I called my wife to come and have a look. When she saw the "thing in the sky" it started to zig zag and then turned sharply to go towards the south, but still no sound but a bright orange light. I can't explain what it was "but if it was a plane or helicopter, there would be a sound and what ever direction they fly there light point in the direction they go in." Then i went to get my telescope to see if I could see what it was. By that time its lights had gone out, but managed to see through my telescope on for a few seconds and it looked like a shuttlecock!!!!

And then the thing in the sky disappeared into thin air. I have to say it freaked my wife and i out for most of the night. i don't know what it was but I'd sure would like to know if anyone else see this strange thing in the sky at abut 9.30pm ish around the Southend on Sea, Essex area.
