The UFO Traffic Report for Wednesday, July 9, 2009, includes 13 selected sightings over eight states, according to witness statements filed in the past 48 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Today's stories include: Five to six orange balls of light moving over an Indiana town; a menacing orb that seemed to follow this Pennsylvania man on his walk; a Nashville field investigator who witnesses an 8-foot sphere; three fireballs over Ohio; bright lights in the trees during a Pennsylvania case; a rectangular-shaped object no more than 300 feet over this Tennessee apartment building; a 200-foot-long silent object moving over California; a very fast-moving and very silent object shooting over New Mexico; a bright light hovering no more than 50 feet in the air in Ohio; another El Cajon, California, witness comes forward; an object that looked like a school of fish over Wisconsin; a series of orbs seen over Ohio; and an oval-shaped object the size of a 747 over Michigan.

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page. The following reports and their headlines are unedited. You can read my selected cases by type of UFO report at the UFO Traffic Report index page.

First up today is a group of 20 to 30 people at a July 4th party who watched five to six orange balls floating in the distant sky. They estimate that the lights were 500 to 600 feet high, were glowing, and they "seemed to move with a type of intent or purpose outlining geometrical shapes, triangles, semi-circles, etc." The group collectively ruled out fireworks, because, they said, "Fireworks do not hang suspended for extended periods of time, fly in suspended formations both rising and falling, rising again, and then slowly shrink out of existence."

Indiana, July 4, 2009 - UFO event precisely like those from 7-4-09 reports, orange fireballs moving in tandem.

Approximately 20-30 people remained at my in-laws July 4th party. Some were swimming, others sitting around enjoying the fireworks from all of the surrounding homes.

Suddenly one of the kids said, "Hey! What is that?" Everyone outside and inside the home were facing North at the time. I believe all attendees at the party witnessed what the child pointed at.

Five to six orange balls floated about in the distant sky (approximately a quarter of a mile away and about 500-600 feet above the terrain). These glowing orbs seemed to move with a type of intent or purpose outlining geometrical shapes, triangles, semi-circles, etc.

After much discussion we collectively ruled out fireworks due to the nature and behavior of the objects. (Fireworks do not hang suspended for extended periods of time, fly in suspended formations both rising and falling, rising again, and then slowly shrink out of existence.)

The predominate feeling discussed by all was one of wonder and curiosity. Though one or two children did get quite scared. This was compounded on our trip home by an intense, blinding fog.

Quite sorry that we did not get any pictures or videos but typically none of us ever have brought any cameras to our celebrations save for anniversaries, weddings, etc.

When the source of pulsing light coming in the window of this Pennsylvania home could not be found, one of the witnesses decided to walk to a friend's house. Along the way, he said an orb followed him. The object would become bright, and then dim, but disappeared when he reached his destination.

Pennsylvania, June 5, 2009 - UFO Star-like Object Followed Me For Like A Black Away From My House!

My mom had told me that there was a strange yellowish light flashing and pulsating in our window so we ran out to see where this light was coming from and we couldn't find nothing on what would be transmitting this strange light so my mom said it's most likely nothing more then a car light reflection. Well then I thought to myself it's a nice warm night I'm going to take a walk down the street to visit a friend because I know he would be up late. As I started walking I felt like I was being followed as strange as it seem. I looked up in to the sky and noticed star like orb the very one that I have been seeing now for quite some time since the summer of 2008 as I would look up into the night sky I would see it moving really slowly and then stopping and becoming dim like as if it didn't want me to see it. So as I started walking a little more this star like object or orb would brighten up and follow me more. I ran to my friend's house and knocked on his screen door and as he came out the door the star like orb disappeared. If any one would like to question me on this please contact me at wright10301973@gmail.com I now know for sure that it was no satellite. In fact this orb also turned as I was watching it and had no noise to it what so ever. At first I thought maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me but I watched it long enough that it was moving and it was no satellite. I'm writing this statement out of all God's honest truth of what I seen. Just hope not to get Abducted after this experience.

A Nashville, Tennessee, MUFON field investigator had just sat down to have his morning coffee on his balcony when he looked up and noticed "a large 8' bubble or sphere hanging suspended above and behind the pine trees in front of me. It must have been as close as fifty or sixty feet, and it looked to be maybe 35 feet high in the air...just hanging there." The silent object then rose up and disappeared.

Tennessee, June 8, 2009 - Eight foot suspended silver sphere @ 60 feet.

2009-06-08 Eight Foot Suspended Silver Sphere @ 60 Feet

It's Monday, June 8, 2009 @ 6:00 am in the morning and I'm seeing my better-half off on her six-o'clock departure for work. I then go back to the kitchen to get my second cup of coffee and return outside to the balcony. I sat the cup down and proceeded to light a smoke, and I simultaneously looked up and saw a large 8' bubble or sphere hanging suspended above and behind the pine trees in front of me. It must have been as close as fifty or sixty feet, and it looked to be maybe 35 feet high in the air...just hanging there.

My first thought was... who else is seeing this thing. I couldn't do anything but just sit there. I truly felt like a "deer in the headlights." I was almost too shocked to react. I was amazed at how I could see the pine tree branches reflecting on the surface of this thing. It looked like an 8 ft. version of a silver garden wishing ball. I remember thinking that if I move... this thing will probably take off. I could feel my heart pounding, but it was almost a mesmerizing and fearful feeling to just look at this thing. There was no recollection of noises during this event, and I don't recall much other than being confounded by it's abrupt appearance.

Anyway, I last remember seeing it start to rise up and past the top of the overhang. I didn't get up to follow it path upward....I just sat there. Later, I remember thinking how atypical this was of my normal reaction to any chance at such an event. I'm not even sure how long I sat there afterwards thinking about it. I was really shocked that it was just suddenly there, because Kim and I both were there just minutes earlier. Then I got up... went inside... looked at the stove-clock and it said 8:45 am. I took a shower and busied myself trying not to think about what happened, but I just couldn't stop thinking about it... all day. I firmly believe that my action of late night vigils, along with instigating some form of interaction ...may be the cause of this encounter.

If anyone has seen this object or anything similar...PLEASE contact me thru MUFON!

Three fireballs were seen by eight witnesses in Ohio. "The first two objects disappeared behind the houses and the third one behind a cloud."

Ohio, July 3, 2009 - 3 red fireballs moving extremely fast.

On July 3rd 2009 I was staying with a friend's family on Lake Erie. I was inside getting something to eat when everyone on the patio started yelling for me to come outside. (I have a science background and work in a related field) I ran outside to see a bright red fireball coming from the northwest horizon and moving southeast. Following the fireball was a second fireball approximately 4 seconds behind. We (8 witnesses) followed the path as long at it stayed in site (approx. 20-30 seconds) The object was very bright but it's altitude and speed were very difficult to gauge. At 10:12pm a third red fireball moved across the sky, slightly less bright and further away than the previous two. It came from a direction further west than the first two. These objects did not streak across the sky and appeared to be burning or shooting flames. My first thought when I saw the objects was that we were witnessing missiles being launched. As I watched these objects I kept hoping they would continue to move across the sky and not crash to the earth. The first two objects disappeared behind the houses and the third one behind a cloud.

A Pennsylvania witness out for a smoke, noticed three or four lights through the trees. "The light was bright enough to illuminate the trees but not the ground. I couldn't tell what kind of shape this was all in all because the lights were hiding it. I was shocked.. scared.. and shaking."

Pennsylvania, July 6, 2009 - Bizarre, bone-chilling, and gave me goosebumps...

Story: [pictures are in day-time just to give you a better view of what happened. no ufo pics]

I was on my front porch smoking a extremely disgusting cigarette. So, to save myself I was going to go down to my sisters truck to grab a Marb. As I was going down the stairs I flicked my lighter a few times until it lit. As it was lit for about 2 or 3 seconds these lights shown through the trees (picture 1: the lights were to the right of the opening [on the left side of the pic] in the trees shining through) I would say there was about 3 or 4 lights. I stood there watching anxiously, and adrenaline pumping throughout my body.

It moved after about 2 or 3 seconds into the clearing (picture 2) in a medium speed. What really blew my mind was how quiet it was for being so close. There was no noise at all, all I could hear was my fast breathing and heavily beating heart. As I watched it moved above the trees behind my shed, and it shone through them. The light was bright enough to illuminate the trees but not the ground. I couldn't tell what kind of shape this was all in all because the lights were hiding it. I was shocked.. scared.. and shaking. And for a big dude like me, its hard to scare. I ran up the stairs and into the house and told my mom.. she didn't believe me and her first reaction was, "What did you smoke now?"

I wasn't under the influence of anything. I was shooken and kept having these chills go up my back throughout the hour after.

The only reason I could give for seeing this event would probably be when I was at my cousins house about four weeks ago. He is into this UFO crap, and he's encountered something really weird, but I won't get into that. We were sitting on the back porch watching the sky and he told me you tell them with your mind that you want to see them and they will eventually come. I didn't believe him. But I tried it, and I really wanted to see one though. Well low and behold 4 weeks later I'm typing on MUFON about a UFO report.

I'm going to keep trying to see them every night now. And I have more of a respect for the unknown. With the lunar eclipse coming tomorrow and the crop circles they produce warning/teaching us of how to predict astronomical events, I have nothing to be afraid of. They're trying to help us, as far as I know.

But, all in all this was the most freakish and bizarre thing I HAVE EVER SEEN......

It was silent and bright.

I just want to know 1.Why they were at my house (because the "calling the aliens" thing probably didn't do anything). 2. Why did they leave when they saw the lighter (obviously they're intelligent) and 3. Do they have something to do with my sisters time warp?

About a month and a half ago.. my sister was woken up by her dog at about 2 am I think she said, and she took him outside to pee. An hour later she woke up in the bathroom with the dog. And she is the lightest sleeper, and she has never slept walked. I mean I live in a pretty wilderness environment, could this just be a good place for the unknown to dwell at night? I don't know. I hope someone contacts me.

Thank you,
Cody

A Tennessee witness "saw the backside of a rectangular shaped object as it passed over my apartment building. It was traveling east to west in a straight line and the height was between 150 to 300 feet . When it passed by or over the building I could hear a hum other than that there was no engine sounds or jet sounds ." The object had five bright white lights and a red light and was 30 to 50 feet across.

Tennessee, July 5, 2009 - Object over Tennessee River.

Around 4:30 in the morning I saw the backside of a rectangular shaped object as it passed over my apartment building . It was traveling east to west in a straight line and the height was between 150 to 300 feet . When it passed by or over the building I could hear a hum other than that there was no engine sounds or jet sounds . Five bright white lights across the back side of it and a red light . It was strobing with some of the white lights doing a double flash, like blip blib every 10 seconds or so . The size was about 30 to 50 feet across the back side if not longer . I had it in sight for about a minute and a half until it faded out of sight in the distance .

I did a drawing on my pc of what I saw, sorry the drawing is crude I did it with my mouse .

This is the fifth time since January that my girlfriend and I have seen something over the river here .

A California couple watched a silent, oval, or cigar-shaped object with a red light moving across the sky.

California, July 5, 2009 - Oval or cigar shape about 200 ft in length, red lights.

My wife & I were enjoying our hot tub when I spotted an object heading West about 2,500 AGL making no sound. What make it stand out was it had no white collision light, just a red one. In looking further we spotted a much dimmer red light at the front of the craft. We could barely see the outline but it looked oval or cigar-shaped. Straight and level flight a little slower than the jets which fly over. We are located near an airway so it's easy to distinguish real airplanes from what we saw last night.

A group of New Mexico witnesses saw a bright, boomerang-shaped object that had a grey/green color to it, moving toward Cannon Air Force Base. The silent object had no lights.

New Mexico, June 12, 2009 - Bioluminescence; boomerang shape; solid glow, no differentiated lights, extremely fast speed; no sound.

I am a graduate student at Eastern New Mexico University, studying archaeology. My fiance, two friends and me were all outside talking around our fire pit, in our backyard from about 7pm to 11:30pm. Cannon Airforce Base is 17 miles North of us, and has recently upgraded to a special-ops base. Because of this, planes are once again doing maneuvers over Portales. We are used to seeing low-flying planes. On a normal night, here, we can watch the skies and spot between 5 - 8 satellites over the course of the night. On this particular night, satellite activity increased exponentially. We spotted around 20 satellites within an hour to an hour and a half. We saw two shooting stars, and watched high as well as low altitude planes flying by. There were four of us and what we saw we can each individually confirm. My chair was facing North/Northeast and I saw a brighter than usual light in the sky. I yelled for everyone to look, in the initial excitement thinking at first it was a shooting star. When everyone found the object in the sky, we were all mesmerized. It was not a shooting star. It kept it's speed (extremely fast) and its luminescence did not waiver. It was boomerang in shape and the color was a grey to green resembling the toy glow-in-the-dark stars that are put on kids ceilings. The object was moving North/Northwest, directly toward Cannon Airforce Base. This was not a plane. There were no lights on the object, just the eerie glow green color. There was also no sound. The object was flying so fast, and so low that there should have been an audible sound for propulsion device. It also appeared to move a nearby cloud as it passed in the distance. The object moved in a straight line. It never slowed and seemed to maintain a direct course. Once it had passed a feeling of extreme nausea took over, and a period of nervous anxiety seemed to replace the feeling of the peaceful evening. All four of us saw the object and watched it fly over and continue flying out of sight.

An Ohio witness looked out a door window and saw a bright light across the street at about 40 to 50 feet altitude and just 500 feet from her home. The object "changed color from red to green to white. It would completely fade out and then reappear about every 2 minutes." The shape of the object was unknown as the woman could only make out the lights. After an hour of watching, the woman telephoned police.

Ohio, July 1, 2009 - Bright red, green and white light that would fade out and then reappear.

This event came to the attention of SD from a newspaper article sent to him via email and then forwarded to SSD/FI to verify and follow up.

The following is from phone interview with the witness.

At 3:56AM EST the witness went to lock the front door when she looked out the door window and saw a bright light across the street, to the side of a building, up above it approximately 40-50feet, and within 500' from her house in the S.E. The object/light remained stationary and hoovering. The witness watched as it changed color from red to green to white. It would completely fade out and then reappear about every 2 minutes. The shape was unknown only the bright light could be seen. The witness became frightened and called the police. She watched the object/light for approximately 1 hour and got too tired watching and waiting for police and she went to bed. The object/light was still in the same place still in the S.E.

This El Cajon, California witness first saw one red light, then two to three more lights appeared. Three of these lights seemed to be following a larger red light until they disappeared from sight.

California, July 4, 2009 - multiple red lights moving slowly in the eastern sky

El Cajon, San Diego ~ Backyard ~ about 9 p.m. ~ Waiting for Fireworks
I first noticed one bright red light coming from the north heading southeast, thinking I was getting to see a satellite/space station/weather balloon. What startled me was watching 2-3 other red lights approach from the south and form an open triangle and hover. The 3 lights then seemed to follow the larger, bright red light towards the east, moving very slowly, and then disappearing from my sight.

I still think these possibly might be experimental helicopter/hovercraft, that can fly at slow speeds. Nightime skies make it difficult to estimate depth/size of objects. Would be a nice annual gimmick to pull off if possible! Seems like it is.

A Wisconsin witness looked up when the sound of two military jets came into the area when he noticed a dozen objects moving across the sky. "The best way to describe them is to liken them to a school of fish." He said, "The lights seemed to be very bright -9 magnitude and then change to very dark all while going in a complete circle."

Wisconsin, July 7, 2009 - Looked like a school of fish, but way up in the sky. There where alto-stratus clouds that the objects where moving above and below. They keep going in a circle over and over slowly going east. I would loose them and pick up the objects 30 degrees away.

I probably would not have looked up if not for the sound of two military jets. They where circling around the area to the north east. This is not seen around here too often as there are no major airports for 60 miles or so. They looked like F-15s, but I don't think they fly those any more. They were definitely military jets one seen very clearly, and the other jet was heard. There are not any bases close by. While I was looking up to see the jets something else caught my eye. There where maybe a dozen or so objects to the east - south east possibly over Juneau, WI area. The best way to describe them is to liken them to a school of fish. They where going in a large circle moving fast and in sync like a school of fish. I lost them once and went to get my wife to see them. While looking up to see them again, I reacquired the strange lights due east from my position. The lights seemed to be very bright -9 magnitude and then change to very dark all while going in a complete circle. The circle seamed to be horizontal (side to side) and not vertical (up and down). At times seen above the clouds and at times seen below. The objects where moving quite fast in a clock wise circle. The second sighting did not last very long and my wife was not able to see the objects. It seemed that the objects disappeared and less than a minute or two later a jet was again heard at a very fast rate, and you can clearly tell the difference between military and civilian jets. The cloud layer was very thin higher altitude clouds. I would guess the clouds at the time to be 6000 to 10000 ft. At least one military jet was heard again, but not see after the last ufo sighting. Sounded very fast, but not super sonic. Possibly super sonic at high altitude when jet was last spotted heading straight east toward Lake Michigan. I would very much like to find out what these objects where, and where the jets involved at all, or was it all just coincidence.

This Ohio witness is a regular sky watcher and has been spotting "white star-like orb UFOs" that can be dim or very bright. "They speed up and slow down and make sharp maneuvers at times. I usually see one at a time so I do not know if there is more than one or if the same one is appearing over and over in the sky cruising along."

Ohio, July 7, 2009 - Silent bright sphere object moving west to east July 7, 2009, Ohio.

Since June 2009 I have been regularly skywatching at night. I have been seeing white star-like orb UFO's. These orbs can dim or get very bright. They are low in the atmosphere and appear at various times of the night and in many different positions in the sky. They speed up and slow down and make sharp maneuvers at times. I usually see one at a time so I do not know if there is more than one or if the same one is appearing over and over in the sky cruising along. I have been wanting to get one on film getting brighter but have not had that opportunity until on this night. At approx 10:45pm EST after I had just filmed the orb passing by some stars I sat back down and continued to skywatch. I was scanning the sky with my eyes and looked above me to catch a glimpse of a very bright, low, star-like object maybe a few hundred feet passing over where I was sitting. It was very low and very bright. It was moving West to East. I jumped out of my chair and began to film it. I was so astonished at the complete silence of this slow moving object! I could not see if it was a structured craft or what it was at all. All I could see was the bright light. You can see how low and bright this object was when it passes the stars as it is moving across the sky. I am an avid skywatcher and have been involved with this UFO phenomenon my whole life. I have filmed airplanes, helicopters and satellites and other various explainable aircraft. This was NONE of those things! The complete silence and appearance of this UFO light was amazing and I am so very grateful I was able to document it! I have the other UFO orb footage from various days in June and July I will upload after this one as well as what I filmed directly before this awesome sighting. Note: My camcorder was running behind an hour. Here is the youtube video:

Two Michigan witnesses leaving Bridgeport first thought they were looking at a large airplane. As they got closer, they could see the object had lights "at least 15 blinking in red white yellow and sometimes blue" and that it was the size of a 747. As they drove under the object, "we could see it had no wings and was completely stationary. that's when we could see the rest of the lights, there were another 5 very large very bright lights."

Michigan, July 7, 2009 - Long oval with 25 lights.

Me and my friend Shannon were driving home from visiting with friends in Bridgeport, we left around 1am and headed to my home. After we crossed the 75 to 23 south exchange we began to see what looked like a large plane, it appeared to not be moving in any direction. At first all we could see were two very bright lights that were too low to the ground and seemed too large for a plane. The closer we got the more uncomfortable I became, ( I do not include how Shannon felt as her reaction was and continued to be before during and after, "I'm ok really," with white knuckles on the steering wheel.) We passed Hill Road and lost track of the object due to a land fill. As we came around the other side of it we could see it again, it still remained motionless as our direction once again was true south.

Shannon said that she felt it could be a tower, but as we got closer that was discarded as we could clearly see it was some kind of air craft. The closer we got the more lights we could see on it, at least 15 blinking in red white yellow and some times blue. As we drew even closer, it became clear it was very very large, we both got the feeling it was as large as a 747, and when we drove under it, we could see it had no wings and was completely stationary. That's when we could see the rest of the lights, there were another 5 very large very bright lights. I am not sure if they were under or on the leading edge, maybe both. What was clear was that it was low enough to the ground that I could see the underside lit up by the lights on the back of it as we passed under and away from it. Once we were maybe a mile away from where we had drove under it, we could no longer see it. I was very uncomfortable, and even commented to Shannon that I wish I had anxiety medication. I felt scared and kept looking all around us as we drove on till we exited 23 at M-59 and headed west to my home in Howell. Unable to sleep I stayed awake till 6am and it is now 6:30pm, my chest hurts and the headache that started after the sighting is still with me.
