Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page.

The following reports and their headlines are unedited. You can read my selected cases by type of UFO report at the UFO Traffic Report index page.

First up today is a story with no UFO sighting - but it does raise some questions on how this might have happened. A Pipeline Control Center Operator in New Mexico received a call about substantial damage to a pumping station that he monitors. A field operator later reported that the entire structure - 100 feet long and 30 feet wide - "was literally pulled out of the ground by something." He estimates that the roof structure weights "an estimated 50,000 pounds." He also notes that he read in the newspaper that on the same day, just a few miles away, animal mutilations of a horse and goats had occurred.

New Mexico, June 17, 2009 - Damage to large roof structure and a horse mutilation.

I work as a Pipeline Control Center Operator and received a call at 7:30 pm local time about damage to a substantial roof structure covering one of the pumping stations I monitor. We dispatched a field operator to the site that night who reported that it looked like the entire structure( 100' L x 30' W ) was literally pulled out of the ground by something. This roof structure weighs an estimated 50,000 lbs! Damage to other items nearby was minimal or non-existent. There was no known weather event that took place that afternoon such as a tornado or microburst.

A few days later I read about animal mutilations ( Horse and goats ) in the newspaper that occurred that same afternoon within a few miles away.

A Georgia witness noticed a white dot traveling north to south above Acworth, Georgia, in North Paulding County, West of Lake Allatoona. As the object came closer, the light changed in color from white to a yellow/amber shade. The object finally stopped just above the tree top level - 50 to 75 feet in the air - and hovered several seconds, then rose up higher into the air to the east and then traveled south at its original altitude until it disappeared from view.

Georgia, June 22, 2009 - White circle going N to S brightened and changed colors as it descended to treetop height then ascended and continued south.

Approximately 9:00 PM June 22, 2009, I was at home and took my dog outside to do his business. I stopped in my driveway and looked up at the sky (which is not unusual). The sun had set, but the sky was still light, with the stars just becoming visible. I noticed a white dot traveling North to South above Acworth, GA (North Paulding County), West of Lake Alatoona. I first thought it was an aircraft, but noticed that it was very high in the sky and there were no beacon(?) lights blinking. It then started to descend at a high rate of speed and curve to the West directly towards me. As it got closer it grew in size and changed colors from white to yellow/amber (the color of an incandescent light bulb or a flashlight). It was getting close enough for me to start freaking out a little bit. I thought it was a baseball-sized meteorite or something that was coming straight towards me, but I was kind of frozen in place. It stopped just above treetop level (approx 50-75 feet), hovered for only a couple of seconds, then ascended in a curved manner to the East and continued South at its' original altitude. I tracked it, until it disappeared behind some trees.

A Victorville, California, witness saw a large, round and shiny, sphere hovering in the air at about 1,000 feet. A fighter jet moved past the object at the same altitude. The witness looked away for about three seconds to get his pocket camera, and when he looked back the UFO was gone, and he could hear the fighter jet moving away.

California, June 25, 2009 - Shiny sphere. Stopped on a dime.

In Victorville CA, Heard fighter jet, looked up and saw a large round sphere that is very shinny and just sitting in mid air around 1 thousand ft in air. It moved a few feet very fast jerks then stopped, then repeated maneuver. Then saw a fighter jet fly by it at same elevation. Jet was short body and short wing span and very loud. I turned to get my pocket camcorder out of my escalade. Took 3 seconds. Turned around and looked up and it was gone. I heard the jet going fast but could not see it anymore.

A "drifting object" caught the attention of a Florida witness that was moving at a slow pace and without lights. The object was described as a "triangular with almost like a circle inside the triangle." The object then stopped, moved backwards and almost directly over the witness, then "began to sort of dance in the sky." The witness left to retrieve a camera, and upon returning, the object was gone.

Florida, June 26, 2009 - Silent triangular flying object

At about 1:35 a.m. after finishing up some online school work, I decided to go outside to have a smoke. I kept the patio lights off in order to keep the bugs away, and to better see shooting stars.

After gazing at the sky for about 5 minutes a drifting object caught my eye. It was moving west at a slow pace, with no lights on, and it did not make much of a sound like most aircrafts would. I live next to the West Palm Beach airport and I am aware of the sound of most planes and helicopters. This was neither. My first thought was that it was a bunch of balloons by the way it almost floated through the sky, but after watching for a few minutes that guess quickly changed.

The object was triangular with almost like a circle inside the triangle. I watched as it made it's way west until it stopped, and accelerated backwards as if it saw me see it. I couldn't do much but shake and listen to my own heart pounding as the triangular object hovered almost directly above me. Then it began to sort of dance in the sky, my initial reaction was that they didn't know where or which direction they wanted to go. But it stayed in a general area above me drifting north, then south, east and west. I knew for sure at that point that it wasn't any aircraft belonging to us. Silently this object danced in the sky for about 3 minutes. I then decided to get my camera, but being so terrified I couldn't even think straight enough to do so. I ran inside searched for my phone and called a friend. After I returned outside to see if it was there still, it was gone.

Now that I think about it, it seems that they wanted me to see them, as if to confirm all of my beliefs. Growing up I've always had a strong belief in other lifeforms. Becoming an adult it was like after having no personal conformation you should just let it go, not that I did. This sighting to me was just that, reconfirmation of what I've always believed. Finally.

A Columbus, Indiana, couple watched a large, glowing object in the sky that they approximate was no more than one-half mile away. The silent object "had a reddish-brown glow to it" and was "sort of cone shaped." The object moved north and became dimmer and dimmer until they could no longer see it.

Indiana, June 25, 2009 - Possible UFO sighting in Columbus, IN June 09

About 11pm, on the northside of Columbus, Indiana, on Thursday, June 25, 2009, I was locking up my car. I closed the door and started walking toward the front of my house and noticed a rather large glowing object floating in the sky from south to the north. The object seemed to be approximately 1/2 mile away or closer. It was sort of coned shaped, bigger at the top than the bottom. It had a reddish brown glow to it. I listened and could not hear anything and it was extremely quiet outside as I don't live close to the noise and traffic of the city. I wasn't afraid of it, just very curious because I have never seen anything like this in my lifetime.

I quickly ran to the door and yelled for my wife to come look at this, as I wanted to make sure I wasn't imagining it. She came out and saw exactly what I saw. We watched it as it floated to the north and the glowing light became dimmer and dimmer and then just seemed to fade away into the darkness. This whole occurrence or sighting lasted maybe 60 seconds. She didn't hear anything either, just quiet.

My wife and I watched for another 30 minutes, hoping it might come back but of course, it didn't.

I've watched UFO documentaries before and I'm very intrigued but I never thought I might actually see one. I'm not positive that I did but I can't explain what I saw.

A Frisco, Texas, witness says he had the same experience on June 23 that an Ohio witness reported on June 22. He "saw a star like object moving very fast at a high altitude."

Texas, June 23, 2009 - Traveling from the northwest towards the southeast at an extreme altitude, bright star-like, extreme speed.

I copied a guys header from his event on June 22...it is exactly what I saw the next night on June 23rd. I was outside and drinking a glass of wine laying back in my patio chair and I saw a star like object moving very fast at a high altitude. It was 10:50 pm , I went in to get my binoculars and by the time I walked into the hallway and came back it was gone. I mean this thing was hauling ass.

I went out tonight at the same time to see if I could see maybe the same thing at the same time, but nothing. I figure if it were a plane or satellite or space station I would see it orbit at the same time, generally. But nothing. And usually by that time of night the air traffic around my place in Frisco Texas is very light, and believe me this was no plane. It was very faint, looked like it was 40,000 ft plus easy...about the light value of the dimmest star you could see. That's actually what caught my attention initially. The dimmness and then, the speed. When a plane is at that altitude or higher it takes it awhile to traverse the vision path I have of the sky, and this thing had no problem going from North to Southeast at 1/3 of the time a jet would have. I was blown away. I am a 45 year old professional male, I was totally sober and served 6 years in the Air Force, stationed at Bentwaters RAF and Tinker AFB. I know aircraft and reasonable speed. This was pretty strange. If anyone had the same experience or if you know what I saw, please contact me, powelson.stephen@gmail...thanks!

An Ohio witness "noticed a large bullet shaped object flying from the SW about 1 mile up." The silent object had no wings or visible windows or lights.

Ohio, June 22, 2009 - Large silver bullet shaped craft flying SW to NE low across sky

I was sitting on my patio with my wife and her sister. When I first noticed a large bullet shaped object flying from the SW about 1 mile up. I then told my wife and her sister to look up and see it. The object then continued to fly over to where we were and over the house. We heard no sound. The object Did Not have any wings, and any windows that were visible or lights. It was not a blimp or any other aircraft I have ever seen. It continued flying in a straight path toward the NE until out of our sight which lasted about 1 minute.

This Pennsylvania witness was watching a beautiful sunset and noticed a light that looked out of place. The object was hovering and its light pulsing.

Pennsylvania, June 26, 2009 - Strange light in the sky.

So I'm sitting outside, smoking a cigarette looking at the sky because the sunset looks cool. When I notice something that should not be there, a light is just sitting in the sky it's not a plane because it isn't moving and it's not a star (stars don't "pulsate"). So I take out my phone and snap a pic. When you look at the photo it looks like a part of the sunset until I inverted the colors, the sky turns blue but this "object" turns black.

A couple vacationing in Washington D.C. snapped a photo of an Andrew Jackson statue and later noticed an object in the image that they could not identify. They are looking for some feedback. Looks like a blimb to me.

DC, May 30, 2009 - Looking at vacation pictures and noticed an odd object.

My wife and I went to Washington D.C. for vacation at the end of May.

On May 30th, I took a picture of the statue of Andrew Jackson. On June 26th, 2009, I was showing the picture to a friend of mine (Scott Huff), and we noticed an odd object above the statue.

When we zoomed in, we were unable to identify what the object actually is.

It resembles a classic UFO shape and Scott suggested I send the picture to you for closer observation.

I don't know what it is and I don't remember it when I took the picture, so I would appreciate any feedback you can give me as to what this might be. Thank you.

A witness near Glenn Rose, Texas, relayed his sighting over the telephone as he watched a bright ball of yellow-orange light in the sky. The object would dart to one side quickly, then hover. Then "one instant it was there, then it just disappeared."

Texas, June 26, 2009 - Large bright yellow/white ball first stationary, then moved sideways very rapidly, stood still for a few seconds then flew away at high rate of speed.

I am relaying this second hand. I was on the phone with my son who is working this summer at a camp near Glenn Rose TX. He was walking outside across the camp grounds alone to get his computer out of one of the buildings. He suddenly interrupted our conversation and said "Oh my gosh, what is that" I started asking him what he saw. He took a few seconds to answer as if he were speechless. He finally answered and said "I'm looking at a bright ball in the sky, sort of yellowish orange. It's very bright. It looks too big to be a plane. Oh my gosh, It just darted to one side, way too fast to be a plane. Now it's just hovering again." By this time he was so excited he sounded out of breath. The object had gone behind some trees. My son ran across the grounds to try to get out from behind the trees to be able to see the object again. "There it is again" he said. Then "It just disappeared. One instant it was there, then it just disappeared".

A Las Vegas police officer who was near Floyd, Virginia, with his father and a friend, all watched "a sphere-shaped object brightly illuminated and about 3mm in relative size." While observing the object and attempting to figure out what it was, the object just stopped. They then watched a series of lights beaming out of the object, and they may even have seen an object being ejected from it.

Virginia, May 30, 2009 - Large bright sphere and smaller spheres moving and stopping.

I am a police officer in Las Vegas for 9 years and a former Marine and this event was also witnessed by my best friend a National Park ranger and my father who is a retired Marine who was a scout/sniper and we are all very in-tune with nature and nautical/astronomical events... I had to start out with that because, we together have seen just about everything and are highly trained observers, if that makes this any more believable, I don't know.. This happened and stopped our evening in its tracks for hours..

I know what it wasn't but I have no idea what it is..

We were in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, the nearest large town would be Floyd, VA, at my family farm and we had just gotten done building a deck on a new house on my property. My father was sitting in a chair facing north and me and my buddy were facing him to the south-south east standing up. The time was approx 2000hrs EST on 05-30-2009 and it was still fairly bright and cloudless sky. My father asked "what is that? is that a planet" and pointed over our heads toward the north. We turned around and observed a sphere shaped object brightly illuminated and about 3mm in relative size. I later shot an azimuth from my compass and it was 20 deg magnetic north and approx 50 deg from horizon. It was the brightest object we have ever seen that seemed to be either a planet, star or a satellite. My dad was still sitting and asked "is that moving?" I tried to keep it referenced to the roof of the house to see if it was but I couldn't tell. He said that before he said anything to us it had moved down about 10deg. We all looked through 20 power bino's and all saw that it was round and completely illuminated equally around but nothing else remarkable about it. We came to the conclusion that it was a northern geo-stationary satellite but were not satisfied with that due to that it looked way too close to our location and from its large size. (After finally getting back to civilization i tried to find what sats are stationary in the northern sky's and couldn't locate any, any help on that?? are there any??) We watched it for approx 45 mins and our talk turned to other strange things we have seen in the sky over the years and about watching satellites floating by. We all went inside to grab some chow and came back outside to eat and the object was gone. This kind of made us re-think what it was we saw..

So now we were really into talking about what that was and had our heads strained to the sky. My buddy spotted a satellite traveling north to south at around 60deg from horizon. It was now approx 2045 hours and some of the brighter stars are appearing. I picked up visual of the object and it seemed to be just a satellite, the dull glow, size and speed were typical. My dad was having a hard time picking it up so I spotted a bright star (I've tried to figure out exactly which star it was but I couldn't tell you) the star was to the SSE and at around 45/50 deg to the horizon and the brightest object in that sector. I asked my dad to look at that star and I began to call out the position of the satellite, ie; "its 9 o'clock high about 3 hand widths away, now its 10 o'clock its now at the 11 o'clock" all relative to the bright star.. and so on, he still was having trouble picking it up. I finally had him look at the 2 o'clock position and a hand width away and me and my friend called it out "its now at its 12, 12:30, 1 o'clock..." and as it got to the 2:30 position it just stopped. we both yelled out "it freaking stopped!" it didn't slow down, it didn't fade out, it stayed a constant brightness and speed until it just stopped dead.. At this point I was really freaked. My father never did get to see it before it stopped but saw it after the fact but now it looked like a regular dim star..

Me and my bud never let our eyes off of the object for the next 4 hours. We actually took turns resting our necks. We finally just laid down and kept on starring at it waiting for it to move.

During this I would see flashes of light popping off in specks near it and other lights that looked like it was radiating out of the object but dismissed them to my eyes playing tricks. At one point I saw a beam of white light come from the 7:30 position from the object and shoot out approx one inch (these will all be relative size to the object). This lasted a brief second. A few mins after that happened my friend said "I swear I saw something shoot out of that thing" and he recanted the same story as to what I saw.

About an hour later, i saw another beam of light from the object, this time it looked like a harpoon getting shot out, kind of squiggly and again about an inch out but this time from the 5 O'Clock position. We both said "whoa!" and both described the same thing to my father independently so we wouldn't feed off each others story..

During this time we saw up wards of 20+ satellites floating by, all stayed on normal path and speed.

At one point toward the end of our event we saw a flash of light approx 2 inches to the 5 o'clock to the object and faded to a dimmer light. This object was round and looked like a satellite in brightness after it dimmed. This new object began to track south but after about 3 inches of travel it made a 90 deg turn and tracked easterly and quickly grew dimmer and smaller as if it was traveling to a higher altitude. We lost it after 7 inches of travel.. We continued our vigil to not loose sight of the original object that stopped moving until we lost sight of it behind a mountain.

I would have not spent one of the few days I get to spend time with my father and my best friend watching something in the sky that wasn't something that needed attention. I wouldn't have reported this and would have just added this to my list of strange stuff I've seen if I hadn't heard a guy on the radio saying almost the exact story of what we saw and around the same date but in the western U.S... this needed to be documented. I know it wasn't a crazy story with an unknown spacecraft but like I said before.... I know what it wasn't, but I have no idea what it was. If someone can explain what I saw please do, its bothering me a bit..

This California witness relates multiple UFO sightings from a northern California horse ranch where visibility is good and some of the same things others are reporting is happening overhead there as well.

California, May 25, 2009 - Multiple sightings -- Us, too. (For the VA Poster).

I just wanted to chime in--especially after reading the VA sighting report--that there really IS something odd going on overhead. If I was to list all the 'strange' things my family and I have seen over the past few months, it'd take too much time. Suffice it to say, I've seen the infamous satellite that makes a 90 degree turn. The one I saw traveled the length of a yardstick (held at arm's length) in about three seconds and then--bam--turned right. Crazy.

I think the strangest thing that happened, however, was about a month ago I saw about six star-like objects travel the same path--one after the other--over the course of about ten minutes. They appeared about every two minutes. At first I thought they were satellites, but they were moving much too quickly for that. Plus, after the third one appeared I knew these were not satellites, especially when one of them stopped for a moment, then continued on its merry way. Two traveled closely together, almost as if they were connected, except they were slightly off-center.

I live in northern California (the TRUE north), on a horse ranch and so our arena is the perfect spot to view strange objects in the sky. Two months ago my husband and my brother-in-law (who lives on the property with us) saw a very bright, "bobbing" light in the sky. According to them it bounced up and down. They were pretty excited, but to be honest, I'm rather blase' about all this stuff now.

BTW, I did check satellite trajectories at www.n2yo.com on the night when I saw the six star-like objects in a row. There were only four in the area, all over the course of the entire DAY. Yes, these might have been "darks", but SIX darks...in a row? I don't think so.

Come on out to my place if you want to see some cool stuff. We've even got our friends and family members "looking up" these days. I'm thinking of getting bumper stickers printed. LOOK UP.

An Oklahoma witness who was about 2 and-a-half miles from the Tulsa airport saw an unusual light in the sky. "The light was much brighter than a star" and would "flash twice in rapid sequence." The witness also observed the object sending "out a flash downward and to the left that had the appearance of an artillery piece firing." The object "also appeared to launch orbs, dimmer than the main light, that moved steadily upward and to the right. As many as three of these orbs were in sight at one time."

Oklahoma, June 18, 2009 - Flashing light in the night sky; appeared to send out flashes and orbs.

Report is being filed by a MUFON FI. Witness did not wish to file a report.

Witness went outside about 10 p.m., saw an unusual light in the eastern sky, went back into his house to get his video camera, then took about three minutes of video. Location is about 2-1/2 miles from the Tulsa airport. Witness is familiar with lights from aircraft in the night sky.

The light was much brighter than a star, perhaps comparable in intensity to the landing lights on an aircraft. What made it unusual was that it would flash twice in rapid sequence, then repeat this pattern in a few seconds. It was observed several times to send out a flash downward and to the left that had the appearance of an artillery piece firing. It also appeared to launch orbs, dimmer than the main light, that moved steadily upward and to the right. As many as three of these orbs were in sight at one time. The video also showed the light dividing into two and then three lights. While the witness was adjusting his camera the light turned to the north (toward the airport) and disappeared in the distance.

An Indiana witness saw what "appeared to be a square or diamond shape object with a glowing orange orb under it." The silent and fast-moving object was estimated to be at about 5,000 feet and heading above S.R. 37 over Noblesville and into Indianapolis.

Indiana, June 26, 2009 - Low, fly-by of possibly square looking object with orange glowing orb under it.

i was sitting on my back porch looking at the sky like I do every night. It was a dark and clear night, many stars visible including Milky Way which is rare these days. At about 10:25 I was sitting facing east, when something came into my sight from behind some trees. It immediately startled me and I said out loud, to myself, oh my god whats that! It appeared to be a square or diamond shape object with a glowing orange orb under it. It was dark and I could not see the profile of the object, but the orb which was flickering like a flame, was reflecting of of the bottom of the object. I first thought of one of those paper balloons with the candle under it but this thing was moving way too fast. Once it came into my sight which was right over head, I watched it disappear into the horizon, towards Indianapolis. It only took about 20 seconds. I think it was about 5000 ft high and it flew like an airplane no sudden movements. It also made no sound. It was following S.R. 37 just to the west, and would have gone right through Noblesville and into Indy.

A family traveling through Sedona, Arizona, stopped to take pictures at Bell Rock Trail. When they viewed the images later, they noticed strange objects in the sky. One object was silver, the other was darker. A third and similar object was caught in a photo taken 10 seconds later.

Arizona, June 24, 2009 - Two possible UFOs photographed in Sedona, Arizona

We were on a family vacation which took us through Sedona, Arizona. Traveling South on Rt 179, we took a turn-off the to Bell Rock Trail, and took several pictures; two of them are attached (P6240087 and P6240088). The first was of Courthouse Butte on my right using some optical zoom to compose the setting.

The second was of Bell Rock just to the left of Courthouse Butte. I used some more zoom to center the second picture. At the time, I did not observe any objects in the sky since my concentration was on the beautiful rock formations. When we stopped at a hotel later that evening we downloaded our photos to a laptop computer.

On the larger screen, I noticed two dark marks in the sky above Courthouse Butte (P6240087). Since my daughter loves hawks, and we saw quite a few on the trip, I joked to my son-in-law Bill, "Let's magnify these two hawks for Sandra".

Arizona ufo II
© MUFON imageWitness photo.
When we did, it appeared to be two UFOs; the left one silver colored and the right one darker. When magnified, each appeared to have a different color directly around it. They did not look like birds or planes. We then searched about 10 other pictures looking for other "black marks" in the sky.

That is when we discovered the dark mark above Bell Rock (P6240088). We magnified this one and it looks similar to the one appearing on the right above Courthouse Butte. The pictures were taken about 10 seconds apart, so if it was the same object, it was traveling fast from my right to left.

We looked at the photos Bill took with a different camera, but he had less sky visible in most of his, and no black mark were found. My reaction was WOW! The camera is an Olympus SP-320, 7.1 Megapixel, with 3X optical zoom.

And finally today, three campers in the San Gabriel Mountains, Northeast of Los Angeles, watched "a bright light hovering over the tree line of Inspiration Point." The light grew in intensity and would bob up and down and back and forth. The object continued to move in a "fluid" sort of way and pulse in color between white, yellow, and orange.

California, June 26, 2009 - 3 campers observe an unknown light/object hover erratically over San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles before flying west, disappearing over the Pacific Ocean

Two friends (JG and RH) and I were camping this past Thursday, June 25th in the San Gabriel Mountains, Northeast of Los Angeles, CA. We were staying in a campground called Guffy, located at 8,225' elevation. It is accessed by taking Blue Ridge Road (FS 3N061) off of the Angeles Crest Highway (Route 2) at the junction of Big Pines Highway (N4).

The entrance to the road is on the south side of the 2. This is a fairly well graded dirt and gravel road that winds through the Mountain High ski resort before passing through the Blue Ridge Campground and eventually reaching the spur for Guffy and eventually a camp called Lupine. Beyond Blue Ridge Campground, the road is undeveloped and in poor shape, limiting the amount of usage by anyone other than dedicated campers or those looking for solitude.

I arrived at the sight after my two friends and made camp as the sun set. There was only one other party of campers staying there on the east side of the campground. After eating dinner and enjoying campfire talk, we decided to drive back along the ridge road to observe the sky and surrounding mountains.

The time was approximately 11:30 pm by the time we were situated and rolling in my Jeep, headed back west along Blue Ridge Road. We drove about a mile, made a u-turn at a pullout and stopped in the middle of the road. This should give you an idea of how isolated the area is. We exited the vehicle and hung out for about 15 minutes, watching the sky and surrounding hills.

As we got back in the Jeep and I turned on the lights, we surprised a coyote standing in the middle of the road. We then continued on to another turnout on the south side of the road, overlooking the Sheep Mountain Wilderness area. To our extreme right we could observe the silhouette of Mt Baden-Powell (9,399') a lower peak called Inspiration Point (7,385') and between them, the pass called Vincent Gap.

The night was extremely clear and a significant amount of stars were visible. We observed a high number of planes and helicopters. Los Angeles airspace is extremely congested, seeming to almost swim with the amount of moving, blinking aircraft of every imaginable type.

There is a constant stream of commercial flights as there are several airports in the area, including LAX, Long Beach, Orange County, Ontario and more. After about 15 minutes or so, our attention was drawn to a bright light hovering over the treeline of Inspiration Point.

All three of us observed the light grow in intensity as it began to lightly bob up and down then back and forth. It seemed to be appearing and disappearing as it dropped below the trees. RH thought it looked like it was out over the desert toward Pearblossom. It continued to move slightly to the south away from the ridge and in to the open sky over Vincent Gap.

It would abruptly move in one direction, stop, then move in another, both up and down and side to side, all the while moving slowly toward the south. The movements were fluid, not jerky. There was no apparent pattern to the movement, and it did this for about 30 seconds or so.

The object seemed to pulse in color, between white, yellow and orange. At times I thought I could make out a dark shape, but the intensity of the light made it difficult. We were all talking at once either asking what it could be, describing what we were seeing or just exclaiming in surprise.

At one point I asked if we were seeing a helicopter or a plane and they both agreed it was not either of those. RH said, "It's dancing. Look at the way it's moving... it's dancing up and down!" Still in complete amazement, I started to wave my arms and say, "Come over here! Come fly over here" and both RH and JG simultaneously said, in so many words, "Don't come over here!"

We had a quick laugh and continued to observe the object. I think it was RH who said, "Why don't you give it a yell?" I cupped my hands around my mouth and started to let loose with a mountain style yodel/yell.

As soon as I started to make a noise, the light suddenly changed with a solid flash of white to few dull blinking yellow lights. There was a random series of flashes, and the object began to move more steadily at a higher rate of speed toward the south.

As this happened, we all became more excited, as it was entirely obvious that there was no mistaking this object as any conventional aircraft, leading us to the conclusion that this was in fact an unidentified flying object.

We continued to watch the object as it faded in intensity and eventually disappeared behind My Baden-Powell. A straight trajectory would have taken it out over the Pacific Ocean. Our total observation time was anywhere from one to two minutes.

We had enough time to completely discuss and react to what we were seeing. Later, back at the campfire (which I quickly stoked up) JG and I agreed that it almost appeared to be shaped like an old German army helmet with a light on the bottom, but neither of us could be sure to any degree of certainty. I drew what I saw in the dirt and he concurred that it was close to what he saw, but neither of us can be sure. RH said he could only saw the light.

At this time, I should add that we are all completely sober, competent observers with excellent vision and senses. RH is a retired U.S. Navy Aviation Machinist Mate, 2nd Class with tons of air time and experience. He also worked at Edwards Air Force Base for 30 years after leaving the service. During this time, he worked Search and Rescue in the San Gabriel Mountains for the LA County Sheriffs Department. He has an intimate knowledge of the area and has spent countless hours, both on the ground and in the air in San Gabriels.

He agrees after discussing our observation that what we witnessed was not normal. All three of us were very open minded before this event, but I now feel even more confident that there is more going on in our world than what we are aware of. I feel very privileged to have seen what we saw.

I feel confident enough that I have no qualms or second guessing about filing this report. I wonder if there were any other people who witnessed something similar that night or at other times in the area. Were there any strange weather anomalies, military exercises or other events that night? Maybe someone at MUFON can let me know. Thank you for your time.
