Witness Statement: From our home in Baildon, which has a high vantage point with a vast panorama, looking out towards Leeds/Bradford Airport (about 1 mile to the north of the airfield) a large orange light, shot up from the horizon. At first, I thought it was a firework display, as we see plenty from our viewpoint, and I waited for the explosion... but nothing happened. The orange light just hovered at what looked to be about 600ft above the horizon. I alerted my wife and 2 god children to it. We all watched it to see what happened. I noticed at the same time that a Jet2 aircraft was on final approach into Leeds. I deduced later that this was a flight from Krakow. The orange light then started to slowly rise, and get smaller. I used my binoculars, to see if it had any aircraft lights. It had none.
I could also see no smoke trail and no visible body. It continued higher and dimmer until it eventually disintegrated high in the sky. A neighbour walking his dog also witnessed it. Did anybody else see it? Surely the pilots of the Jet2 would have seen it, unless thier angle was different to ours...

I also live in Baildon and have seen these lights twice now. I saw them for the first time around the same time as you but not on the sunday, on the saturday, there were more than one and seem the follow the same path one after the other and then fade away after flickering one after another. I saw them again out my window two nights ago on the 14th of june 2009 at first I also though they must be planes, but they did not have the flashing lights that planes do and they they looked to move not in a straight line but up and down randomly. After seeing them twice I typed a description into google and where I saw them. First thing that came up was this. I will keep an eye out and if I see them again I will post another comment. I live on Baildon green near the cricketers arms, last time I saw them they in the direction of shipley heading in the direction of rose.
