Wrexham's reputation as a UFO hotspot has received another boost after an Evening Leader reader got in touch with video footage featuring a mysterious object.

The man, who didn't want to be named, but comes from Summerhill, Wrexham, said he had heard of a number of strange sightings taking place in the skies around the village over the last 12 months.

He went on to claim that before capturing the footage he had seen unexplained lights flying near his home on one occasion but hadn't been able to film them.

However, on Saturday, April 18, he was lucky enough to have a second chance when he witnessed a similar formation.

This time he was able to get into the house, grab a video camera and record exactly what was happening.

The video shows two bright orange lights in the night sky.

The camera then zooms in to focus on one before zooming out again to film both.

"We had been out with friends and were coming back home at around 10.40pm," said the man. "We looked up and could see the lights.

"They were totally silent and much too big to be a plane.

"I have heard of a case recently in the Wrexham area where Chinese lanterns have been mistaken for UFOs, but I think that in this instance the objects were moving far too quickly."

The man said that one of the lights appeared to be moving in a particularly fast fashion.

They were visible for about three to four minutes before fading away.

Last month the Evening Leader reported how a number of people had seen mystery lights flying above Wrexham.

It transpired that those objects had in fact been Chinese lanterns. The lanterns, which measure about three feet by three feet, are white and made of tissue paper and use the same principle as a hot air balloon.
