High Strangeness
Arizona, March 14, 2009 - 2 lights at the ends of a very large object in S.E sky (similar to in size to Phoenix lights object) appeared then receded at an incredible speed.
I live on the eastern edge of Queen Creek, Az. and have a very good view of the night sky to the Northeast, East, and the Southeast. Tonight my adult son was visiting and I was showing him Saturn, then the Orion Nebula through my Celestron telescope. After showing him these objects I set the scope to go to another nearby nebula, and glanced at the S.E. sky as the scope was slewing. Clearly visible coming toward us in the distance was a large object with two very bright lights, one at each end. I grabbed my binoculars and as I watched, the object stopped, then receded at an incredible speed. As it receded I could see a haze forming around the lights.
This went from sitting there to being completely gone in less then 10 seconds. The object was very similar in size to the published pics of the Phoenix lights object in 1997. (The 8:30 sighting, not the later one which was claimed to have been flares) Going over this in my mind I've been unable to come up with an explanation for this sighting other than what I've stated above. It absolutely was not any aircraft, flares or other terrestrial object I've ever seen before.
Alabama, March 15, 2009 - Feeding dogs when casually looked up and saw object in the sky.
Went outside into the back yard to feed the dogs. Enjoyed the partly sunny sky and mild weather after enduring several long days of rain. It was about 5:10pm when I placed the feeding bowls down for the dogs to begin eating. I made a quick call on the cell phone while remaining outside. As I hung up the phone I noted the time was 5:14pm and I casually looked towards the sky as I began to place the cellpnone in my pocket when something in the eastern sky caught my attention. First I thought it was a plane but the shape was something different from most planes I see in the sky. It had a shape that really wasn't round but not cigar or cylindrical either. Hard to really explain. It was moving southward and would move behind clouds and fading contrails. Remembering that my cell phone had a camera, I took it out of my pocket and tried to take a picture but never could zoom in close enough to get a good snap. I watched it for 30 to 45 seconds before my attention went back to the dogs.
New York, March 15, 2009 - Brilliant star like light appeared diamond shaped.
I was on a frozen lake in the NY Adirondack park my friend and I had stopped on our ATV's for a break in the middle of a isolated frozen lake. We started looking at the stars as there were no clouds anywhere identifying constellations (Orion big dipper etc) and enjoying the pristine beauty. We immediately saw a satellite passing over then a while later a jet plane probably approaching Albany airport upon watching the jet pass south to Albany we saw another light brighter and continuous (No blinking light at all) coming over the horizon immediately thinking it was another jet but it was moving much faster as it approached and was unusually bright. We waited to hear the jet engines as it neared as we had before but never did. It passed over us south of our position from roughly south west to north east (We had no compass so this is a very rough guess I am basing the direction on the direction of the jets flying to Albany) as it neared it was much brighter than any star in the sky and appeared to be diamond shaped and I would guess 35,000+ ft. After it passed over head it kept climbing and winked out in a split second I don't mean went over the horizon I mean traveled into space and disappeared. We immediately looked at each other and agreed we had not seen a plane or satellite. We began to question what it could have been and decided it had to be the space shuttle but even that didn't agree with what we saw. We noted the time as 8.25 Eastern (NY) (By Ron's watch (Which was correct to my computer which I checked when we got back home) I went to NASA's web page and they launched much earlier and as I said before this did not look like a rocket. I do not believe what I saw was the space shuttle. It did not appear to be a rocket it made no noise and was too low to have been the shuttle. I would imagine on a clear night in upstate NY someone else had to have seen the same thing. I also checked to see if the Koreans launched anything but nothing has been reported. Please let me know if anyone else saw this object as I have never seen anything like it in my 44 years. I never saw it turn it continuously climbed in a straight line into space at a rate that was startling. I can't wait to see what if anything is reported. Thank you. I swear this entire story is the truth so help me God.
Colorado, March 15, 2009 - Light in the sky.
I went out on deck facing East. Light low in the sky caught my eye. Watched go over thinking it was an airplane headed for DIA. I see and hear many airplanes as I am in a flight path. Suddenly the light just blinked out. There was no noise no navigation lights for it to be so low. Airspace is crowded and navigation light would have had to be on. NO SOUND. No navigation light or strobes. very strange.
Alabama, March 15, 2009 - Blinky craft over Hazel Green, AL.
My wife and I and a friend were sitting in the backyard around 8:35pm 03/15/09 when our friend pointed at the sky. When I looked up we saw a pill shaped blinking lighted object streaking across the sky to the northwest at high speed. It was low enough to be in the clouds and was totally silent. I called my father about it. My daughter was staying the night with him. They both saw the same thing around the same time and traveling in the same direction. They were in Huntsville about 25 miles south of us. They heard a loud noise, looked up and saw a pill shaped object going northwest, blinking on and off. They said the noise was very loud for an object at that altitude and reverberated. When it came over us it was silent.
Michigan, March 15, 2009 - I saw two different lights traveling in the sky then disappear at the same time I was observing a civilian aircraft.
I was heading to my car to listen to some music and smoke some cigarettes. I have been fixated with the sky and all that it harbors since I have been a child. This is a clear night a two or three hundred feet off of Lake St. Clair here in Michigan, three or four miles north of the lights of the little downtown area in this community so the stars and planets are always brilliant on a clear night such as this.
After I exit my back door I look up and scan, as I always do, and my eyes are instantly attracted to a large human aircraft in the western sky traveling northeast, maybe at an altitude of several thousand feet high. There is Selfridge Air National Guard Base about 6-10 miles north/northeast of my house. And I have observed several types of aircraft in both the day and night coming and going in my 7 months of living in this community of St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
This plane had two fixed lights on its wings with the red flashing lights in the middle. The second I saw the airplane I saw a bright light, seemingly so close to it as it appeared to me looking from below, that I took a deep breath thinking that it was another plane and if they were at close enough altitudes they were about to collide. But strangely the plane kept going in its path northeast and this light, nothing blinking like the other craft, just a light, it carried on west/northwest.
Then my attention was grabbed by a similar star like light in the southern sky traveling east, also in a straight line, as the other light was traveling in its direction, just as the plane was in its. All three objects resembled the same speed to my perception. So I am looking at both of the lights moving and the plane traveling over my head, of course one at a time, but then the light in the western sky abruptly disappeared as I was looking at it! This was very odd because there were no clouds for the object to fly into or over, and there were no other significant celestial objects in that patch of the western edge of the northern sky for it to obscure my view of it, or for me to mistake the light for it. And if anything it should have reappeared.
My eyes confirmed that the bright light was gone when I looked back over to the other light in the southern sky traveling east when a few seconds after I re-tracked it, it too disappeared from my sight as I am watching it. I looked back to the airplane and saw it was still traveling on its path northeast.
Not saying I am professionally trained or anything but once again I have been obsessive over the sky since I was a child and I have learned a great deal about my favorite sciences astronomy and cosmology and my love for aerospace has taught me how to track with my eyes where a moving object is going and were it should be in the sky after a few seconds have elapsed, if it is man made.
The key points I am making to myself and to MUFON is this: I can't stress enough how clear of a night this is, the celestial spheres are bright and it was easy to see both the lights and the airplane and distinguish them from the stars and planets which do not move as the lights and the plane were. I tracked the airplane till it was out of sight. So I am sure that I should have been able to see those lights traveling in their respective paths until they should have disappeared out of sight. And the one traveling northwest should have stayed in sight longer than the plane. But those two lights vanished, and I could no longer see them when they should have occupied the sky for at least the same amount of time as the plane because of where they were when I first observed the three of them. Like everything regarding LIFE, I have my theories, but I can't explain this.
California, March 15, 2009 - A silent craft witnessed by 5 people.
4 buddies and I were having a BBQ in the back yard of my house in South Pasadena, Los Angeles, California. We were standing, joking around. Must've been 7:30 - 7:45 and A medium-bright, white-light caught my eye traveling at medium-fast speed. With no sound. Not blinking. Traveling straight. I could assume that it was no more than 3mi. north of us traveling East, apparently flying directly over the city of Pasadena. There were no other air craft seen or heard during this sighting. As soon as I realized that there was no sound and that it still wasn't blinking I said to my buddies: "help me witness this" to get them to turn and look. I got their attention... They confirmed that there was no sound and that there were no blinking lights, only one light consistently illuminated. There were some clumping clouds... and we saw it for 30-45 seconds as it moved in the space where the clouds had cleared; only a couple hundred feet above these clouds. Then saw it slightly again through a smaller break in the clouds. Then it disappeared into the clouds. A minute later, we saw a jet air plane at almost the same height fly directly above us with normal lights and normal sounds. By this, we were able to gauge that we weren't deaf, blind and crazy...
...Then for some reason we did... we went crazy for 3min. We laughed hysterically, "flipped out", rallied...Repeated the saying: "I cant F***in' believe that!" and "Oh my F***in' God!.
I seriously could not believe that my first sighting was ALMOST trivial.
I went inside to bring my dad a plate and quickly tell him what happened... And (without warning) when I came back out my friends were all packed up ready to leave like they had something to do. I guess they were a little too "freaked out" .
I've been a believer for over 10 years and I listen to coast to coast from time to time, but never had a direct experience. This is my first sighting, and I'm so glad a had some close buddies share it with instead of being alone when this happened. I've done enough research to know that this was very low profile sighting. But I don't care, I know that every little bit helps. This sighting has turned me from a "believer" to a "knower". However I really hope you get a corroborating report. I'd love to hear it and share it with my buds.
Also if there IS SOME explanation for this sighting please let me know.
Utah, March 14, 2009 - Star like sphere under cloud cover, not up in space.
Once again my husband and I were in the hot tub looking at stars. We were facing south, some overcast clouds when we noticed what looked like 2 stars that made eyes, with a cloud nose, and cloud mouth. We were laughing that it looked like a face. It was a perfect face. Then all of a sudden the right eye of our face started moving from south west to east. It was perfectly round and not very far away from us. An approaching for landing 747 jet passed under it ( we are in the path for the airport)and we think that's why it started moving east. It was under the cloud cover as we watched it perfectly move into a cloud and lost it. It was not out in space at all. It was sitting there in our face that we saw. So weird. We see this stuff all the time. I have reported several of these sightings.
Ohio, March 15, 2009 - Faint high altitude blue/grey light following small jet.
On Sunday 3-15-09 @ approx. 10pm I went outside to look at the night sky with my binoculars since the sky was perfectly clear. After about 2 minutes I saw a small private jet flying at about 1500ft at 45 deg due south of my viewing point that was heading north on a path that would take it directly over my head. I wanted to get a better view so I used my binoculars to look more closely at the aircraft, when I did, I notice a faint blue/grey light that was slightly behind the aircraft but at a seemingly much higher altitude that I estimated was about the same height that I usually observe satellites at. By faint I mean that this light was not visible with the naked eye and was not a sharp pinpoint of light like most satellites but about twice the size and hazey. The other odd thing was that it moved about 2 to 3x faster than any satellite I've seen and I say it followed the jet only in the sense that it's pace seemingly matched that of the jet, never gaining or losing distance relative to the aircraft. This sighting lasted only about a minute before both objects were out of view. I observed 3 satellites in the next 5 minutes after this sighting and they were exactly what I am use to seeing and very much different from the blue/grey light.
Texas, March 17, 2009 - Multi-colored UFO spotted in the sky.
I had gone outside to have a cigarette and as I began to light up I noticed in the sky a bright object. At first I thought it was a star but after closer examination I noticed that it was far too bright and that it was blinking rapidly in array of different colors (blue, red, yellow, green). It almost looked as if the object was moving side to side slightly, but I wasn't sure. There was another witness who was at first skeptical claiming that it was a helicopter, however even he was in awe of the sight. After a few moments it seemed to dim, almost disappearing all together. Then it became bright again. The sighting lasted for thirty minutes until it seemed to fade out all together. Throughout the whole time of watching the object I felt as if it was communicating somehow, or even surveying the area. I did have a camera with me at the time, but I wasn't able to get the object because it was so far away. That and the fact I couldn't turn the flash off the camera. I haven't uploaded the photo's to my computer but would be willing to hand over what photo's I do have. I had a very eerie feeling during and after the object faded away. The weirdest part, aside from the UFO sighting, was the military aircraft that has been flying around our parts in the past few weeks. Earlier in the day I had seen a military helicopter flying low over the town of Port Neches. What I saw tonight was no star and nor was it a helicopter. There has been rumors of a secret military base in the area. This was not the first strange thing I have seen in this area, however this is the strangest of them all.
Missouri, March 17, 2009 - Thought it was plane at first but then it just basically was just... gone.
I can not smoke inside so I go out every time I smoke and have never seen anything like this. I live by KCI airport and I was in the air force so I have seen airplanes, both civilian and military and I know what can and shouldn't be able to be done by our technology.
I was looking up and saw one moving item in the sky after being outside for no more than 20 seconds and I assumed it was an airplane so I looked away to find something else interesting to look at... I look back to the airplane moments later and then the main light which looks like a halogen airplane light blink off with no afterglow. Remaining is a green strobe light on the object, then within one minute after it staying in place it just shoots up into the sky and is gone within 2 seconds. I was looking NW from my back porch to see this object.
Worth note: Less than 5 minutes later there are several military planes flying around!!!
WE ARE NOT ALONE!
California, March 17, 2009 - Star-like object viewed over Saddleback Mountains, Orange County, Southern Calif.
Driving eastward in the Laguna Hills/Laguna Niguel area, my wife and I viewed a very bright star-like object directly above the Saddleback Mountains (southern part of the Santa Ana Mountain range in South Orange County) - object was viewed in the dim morning light after sunrise (7.40am). It seemed as if the object was moving very slowly upwards as it stayed within our perspective; it did not appear to radiate any color other than a very bright white light. At first, I assumed the object may be a plane approaching for John Wayne airport, but the light appeared too bright and constant... usually main airplane lights fluctuate with perspective and are certainly not as intense. After viewing for over 1 minute, the object then appeared to rapidly 'flicker' away and vanish completely while in full view. There were no clouds and air quality was good. Also, our view was not obscured throughout. I made a good attempt to see if the object was still visible in some way, but nothing was visible in any way that I could identify. The sun was rising from behind the mountains and this made for a reasonably well-lit viewing, but the object did not appear to be REFLECTING light - it appeared to be emanating it's own star-like light of exceptional intensity. Airplanes do approach South Orange County from the Saddleback area, but their movements are frequent and familiar and can usually be tracked with the eye - even with changing perspectives. SOME airplane light usually remains visible on approach - regardless of the viewing perspective. I'm not sure if John Wayne has incoming flights at this time in the morning - I believe they do not.
