Strange lights seen in the sky near Droitwich Spa heading in formation towards Bromsgrove may have been helicopters - or were they something else?

Whatever they were left Advertiser reader Jean Bamford searching for a logical explanation.

Jean, from Park Farm Barns, Oddingley, contacted the paper after seeing the bright orange lights at around 10.15pm on Saturday, January 17.

Calling us to inquire if any other readers had spotted the objects, she said: "There were about ten altogether coming over our house in twos every few seconds, they had very bright orange lights. They were probably helicopters, but it was very strange to see so many, also there was no noise from them."

The objects, she said, were regularly spaced and in line.

"We live in Oddingley near Droitwich Spa, and they seemed to come from Worcester heading towards Bromsgrove.

"We had our electricity off that night from about 6pm to midnight and we went to bed early, as we have skylights we could see them very easily from our bed, we got up and opened the window to see them, but there was no sound."

With the Chinese New Year due to take place on Monday, January 26, one possibility is that it could had been early revellers letting off Chinese lanterns.

A West Mercia police spokesman confirmed that a single report of lights having been seen in the area had been received.
