A number of Cleveland residents e-mailed a local TV station Thursday morning to report a bright light shooting through the sky.

The e-mails described the object as a fireball or possible space junk and said it was seen in the sky over the city between 6:15 a.m. and 6:25 a.m. Thursday, WEWS-TV, Cleveland, reported Thursday.

The witnesses variously described the object as being bright blue and yellow or bright green and red, the TV station said. The object was said to have a tail about 8 feet long.

"This thing went from north to south in a downward angle. It had a bright green head and a short gold tail," said an e-mailer who identified himself only as Bruce. "I've watched plenty of meteors and this was like no meteor I've ever seen. It lasted about 5 seconds."
