It sure looks to me like the failure to form "negative affective associations" stems from simply a failure to find something sufficiently negative for this subset of humans. Snakes vs puppies simply won't work as negative and positive images for psychopaths.
Maybe if they used something more along the lines of, say, a torture scene for positive emotions and someone like Cindy Sheehan for a negative association (speaking truth to power)
