"The flood was strong, it destroyed my farm, it destroyed everything... all the lands were flooded away," Nasrullah, a 50-year-old farmer, told AFP.
"In my sixty years of life I had never seen such wind, rain, and storm," said another farmer, Mohammad Ibrahim. He said the storm was so strong it "threw the fences 30-35 metres away" and blew away everything made of wood.
The district governor, Mohammed Sadeq Jehadmal, told AFP that 50 houses and 60 shops were damaged, while "between 2,000 up to 2,500 solar panels were destroyed".
Further east, six people were killed in Helmand province, including a child struck by lightning, and nine in Kandahar province.
Officials said the deadly downpours may however help improve long-term drought conditions in several provinces, including flood-hit Farah.
"It's constantly raining and snowing in most of the provinces, which has reduced the drought," said Abdullah Jan Sayeq, spokesman for Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority.
"This will enrich the water infrastructure. Agriculture will be improved and will have positive effects on livestock."

Tropical cyclone Garance made landfall on the French Indian Ocean territory of Réunion on Friday, packing gusts of 166 kilometers (103 miles) per hour.
Garance - the equivalent of a Category 2 Atlantic hurricane - made landfall on the northern coast of the mountainous island, France's meteorological agency said.
Garance is the strongest storm to hit the territory, located about 400 miles off the coast of Madagascar, since Tropical Cyclone Firinga in January 1989.
Authorities issued a purple cyclone warning, their highest level, for the entirety of the island as the storm is packing a punch and bringing heavy rainfall, gusty winds and powerful waves to the territory. That was later lowered to a red warning.
Winds could gust over 200 kilometers (124 miles) per hour and rainfall totals could exceed 200 mm (7.8 inches).
French authorities said Saturday that at least four people died in Cyclone Garance's devastating crossing of the Indian Ocean island of La Reunion.
The body of a man was found trapped under one of thousands of trees ripped up by winds of up to 230 kilometres (143 miles) per hour that tore across the island of some 900,000 people on Friday, authorities said giving the new toll.
The other victims, two women and a man, were carried away by flash floods, trapped in a mudslide or killed by an electrical fire sparked by the storm, according to the prefecture.

The KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance Department confirmed that rescue teams have recovered the bodies of seven people who were swept away by flood waters.
Five bodies that washed up in a canal in Lamontville, south of Durban, were recovered and the bodies of two women were found ashore at two separate locations in Durban.
The South African Weather Service has issued a level two weather warning for the province - indicating the possibility of further rainfall throughout the day.
Heavy rainfall has impacted large portions of the province, causing significant damage and flooding.
Search and rescue teams have been working around the clock in the hope of finding survivors.

Almost seven inches of rain fell on Key West in just a few of hours Monday morning, flooding some streets of the Southernmost City.
According to the National Weather Service, the rain gauge at Key West High School measured 6.87 inches, "most of it in just three hours this AM," the agency said in a statement on X Monday night.
Social media posts showed pedestrians walking through shin-high water along the city's famous Duval Street.
The Florida Department of Transportation said in an advisory Monday morning that parts of A1A/South Roosevelt Boulevard were closed from Bertha Street to Key West International Airport.
