Activists claim that changing sex is a way to solve your problems, but will it really make you happy? Some experts aren't so sure

LGBT parade
Statistics show that the number of people identifying as transgender is growing, with a large proportion of adolescents among them. Scientists and transgender activists told RT the reasons they believe are behind the trend.

According to research carried out by Gallup, 5.6% of US adults identify as LGBT. In 2017, the number stood at 4.5%, and in 2012, when Gallup began tracking the measure, it was 3.5%.

In particular, just 0.6% of all US adults identify themselves as transgender, the study showed. While there was no specific data on the issue in the previous report, a similar percentage was discovered by the Williams Institute of Los Angeles a year earlier. "This figure is double the estimate that utilized data from roughly a decade ago," the study said in 2016.

At the same time, research from strategy consulting firm Global Market Insights estimates that the sex reassignment surgery market in the US will grow by a quarter in five years, hitting $1.5bn by 2026.

Stefano Eleuteri, sexologist and PhD in social, developmental psychology and educational research at Sapienza University of Rome, says it's not the case that there are actually more people who feel they are in the wrong body, but rather social acceptance has allowed those who would have been quiet in the past to speak out.

Uprooted again: Venezuela migrants cross US border in droves

migrant girl

June 15, 2021 • Del Rio Texas.
Marianela Rojas huddles in prayer with fellow migrants after trudging across a slow-flowing stretch of the Rio Grande and nearly collapsing when she stepped on American soil for the first time.

"I won't say it again," interrupts a U.S. Border Patrol agent, giving orders in Spanish for Rojas and a group of 14 other Venezuelans to get into a detention van. "Only passports and money in your hands. Everything else — earrings, chains, rings, watches — in your backpacks."

It's a frequent scene across the U.S.-Mexico border at a time of swelling migration. But these aren't farmers and low-wage workers from Mexico or Central America, who make up the bulk of those crossing. Among them are bankers, doctors and engineers from Venezuela, and they're arriving in record numbers as they flee turmoil in the country with the world's largest oil reserves and pandemic-induced pain across South America.

Two days after Rojas crossed, she left detention and got a bus out of the Texas town of Del Rio. The 54-year-old fled hardship in Venezuela a few years ago, leaving a paid-off home and career as an elementary school teacher for a fresh start in Ecuador. But when the housecleaning work she found dried up, she decided to uproot again. "It's over, it's all over. Everything was perfect. I didn't stop moving for one second."

Last month, 7,484 Venezuelans were encountered by Border Patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border — more than all 14 years for which records exist. The surprise increase is a harbinger of a new type of migration that has caught the Biden administration off guard: pandemic refugees.

Dear PETA, Israel's animal rights record is anything but praiseworthy

Painted donkeys
© Wissam NassarPalestinian children look at white donkey that have black stripes painted on to make it look like a zebra at a zoo in the Zeitun neighborhood of Gaza Strip. According to media reports, the zebra at the zoo had died from starvation during the 2008 Israeli military offensive as the zookeeper could not get the site to feed the animals. Costs for a replacement were too high.
Last Wednesday, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) praised Israel for being the first country to ban the sale of animal furs. The statement failed to mention the law's religious exemption for Israel's ultra-Orthodox Jews who observe the tradition of shtreimels, which are typically made of various breeds of martens or foxes. The law also includes an exception to the ban for "educational" purposes.

Legislation like this is obviously worthy of praise, however, in the case of Israel, any praise, especially regarding its ethics towards animals, is completely misled.

Throughout Israel's short history, they have repeatedly exposed their stances on environmental justice through their state-protected environmental terrorism and deliberate military attacks on animals.

During Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip in 2008-2009, an attack that killed hundreds of Palestinians, also took the lives of many animals, particularly those sheltered at the Gaza zoo.

Best of the Web: Covid-19 outbreak at 95% vaccinated Belgian nursing home slays 12 residents

Comment: Using '2020 official virus science', either the vaccines didn't work, or they killed these people...

nursing home belgium
The nursing home in Nivelles, Belgium
An investigation is underway into how a care home in Nivelles in Walloon Brabant came to be infected with the Delta variant of the coronavirus, while 95% of the residents and 75% of staff were fully vaccinated.

According to the latest studies, the vaccines in use at present offer reliable protection against the Delta variant - the most virulent of the four variants so far uncovered.

Yet the home suffered an infection of 55 of its 119 residents. Most suffered relatively mild symptoms - although symptoms among elderly and infirm people can quickly change from mild to something much worse.

Nevertheless, 12 people died. According to figures from the health institute Sciensano, 34 people aged over 65 - not all of them in care homes - died in the week of 14 to 20 June in the entire country, down from 252 in the week of 4 to 11 April.

The investigation will now enquire into how the variant came to be present in the home, and why it had such a devastating effect.

At the same time, it will look into the odd situation whereby, while residents were being felled by the Delta variant, staff were becoming infected with the Alpha variant, formerly known as the British or Kent variant.

Comment: Ah, we see.

Last year it was "BUT PEOPLE ARE DYING!"

This year it's "meh, people die all the time."

Got it...

An estimated 30 people died on Sunday when Somalia's Islamist al Shabaab group launched an attack in a town in the country's semi-autonomous state of Galmudug, a security official said.

The insurgents used car bombs in the assault on a military base in Galmudug's Wisil town, located in central Somalia, triggering a fight with government troops and armed locals, Major Mohamed Awale, a military officer in Galmudug told Reuters.

"They attacked the base with two car bombs and fierce fighting that lasted over an hour followed," he said.

The woke language police want to ban words like 'picnic' & 'trigger warning', rewriting history controls the way people think

picnics in Sweden
The relentless march of linguistic re-engineering is continuing apace, with a US university issuing a new list of inoffensive words that are apparently now inappropriate to use. It's imperative this woke brainwashing is resisted.

In recent years, the policing of language has acquired a seemingly unstoppable momentum. Almost every week, the public is informed about yet another word that must not be used. But who would have imagined that the term 'trigger warning' would become the target of the language police?

Washington Post caught in (another) lie: Falsely claimed DeSantis slow to respond to Surfside condo collapse

Establishment media has been quick to blame Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' seemingly slow response to Surfside collapse. The facts don't add up.

In the wake of the partial collapse of a Surfside, Florida condo building Thursday, establishment media has been quick to denounce Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' seemingly slow response. Documents reveal that the blame should not fall at his feet.

The Washington Post's Hannah Dreier posted to Twitter a FEMA report on the incident which came out during the morning hours of Thursday. It states that at that time, no requests for state for FEMA assistance had been made.

"FEMA was ready to deploy to the condo collapse almost immediately, and included the crisis in its daily briefing, but didn't get permission from Gov. DeSantis to get on the ground for a full day," wrote Dreier.

The corruption is obvious in how mRNA vaccine complications are downplayed compared to other jabs

vaccins pfizer
Pfizer's and Moderna's offerings seem to be getting a much easier ride in the press than other Covid-19 vaccines available. Could this possibly be because they're the only for-profit jabs on the market?

A safety group from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently said that there's a "likely association" between myocarditis, a rare inflammatory condition of the heart, for young adults and adolescents after receiving their second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 vaccines. The fact that the media is largely brushing this aside and countries aren't pulling them pending a safety review, like they did with the Johnson & Johnson or AstraZeneca vaccines, shows an innate bias towards for-profit medicine.

Comment: He is however, correct in noting the preferencing of for-profit mRNA vaccines in the media, both in promoting Pfizer and Moderna over J&J and AstraZeneca, and in hiding the horrendous effects of having the body's DNA permanently modified.

Hong Kong to BAN passenger flights from UK claiming it's a Covid 'high risk' region

london city
© Chris Ratcliff/Bloomberg
Hong Kong will ban all passenger flights from Britain starting Thursday, labeling the country "extremely high risk" just as it loosens entry requirements for people traveling from most other parts of the world.

"From 0.00am on July 1 (Hong Kong time), all passenger flights from the U.K. will be prohibited from landing," the government said in a statement Monday.

The decision was made "in view of the recent rebound of the epidemic situation in the U.K. and the widespread delta variant virus strain there, coupled with a number of cases with L452R mutant virus strains detected by tests from people arriving from the U.K.," it said.
