European diplomats chased out of Palestinian Museum in West Bank

Screenshot: Germany remains one of strongest supporters of Israel's military offensive in Gaza
Palestinian students expelled a European diplomatic delegation from the Palestinian Museum in the West Bank on Tuesday amid growing anger over support for Israel's deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Amro Kayed, a student at Birzeit University, said the European delegation included some German members.

"Germans are not welcome in the Palestinian territories," Kayed told Anadolu.

Comment: An understandable response considering that many in the Palestinian territories will have relatives who were slaughtered or who are dying a slow death in the Gazan concentration camp.

Video clips shared on social media platforms showed a group of students removing foreign diplomats from the museum.

"The German ambassador has been expelled," one student is heard saying in the video.

The visit to the museum was initiated by representatives of several European embassies, including France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany.

Comment: It's notable that an outcry against Israel's genocide, and those that would facilitate it, is escalating not just in Palestine, but across much of the planet. Notably, the authorities in those countries facilitating the genocide are also cracking down the hardest on protesters; which, rather predictably, is only causing more to rally to their cause: US, Germany supplied 99% of Israel weapons in 2023, US accelerated deliveries despite Gaza genocide

Pfizergate: Ursula von der Leyen's shady Covid vaccine deals prove she can get away with anything

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
© FREDERICK FLORIN / AFPEuropean Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
Forget this whole "election" charade and just glue the crown onto her head, already.

Ursula von der Leyen, the unelected European Commission President, is up for job renewal in June. She'd have to be re-nominated by the majority of EU member state leaders and then re-confirmed by members of the newly-elected European Parliament. They'd have to be crazy to dethrone this ultimate incarnation of true EU values, like transparency and foresight (or rather, lack thereof).

EU prosecutors take up Von der Leyen corruption probe - Politico
Investigators are reportedly looking into private text messages between the European Commission president and the CEO of Pfizer

The EU's top prosecutors have taken over an ongoing corruption investigation into European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Politico reported on Monday citing an unnamed spokesperson for the Liege Prosecutor's Office in Belgium.

The probe relates to the purchase of nearly two billion Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine doses for the EU at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. The prosecution claims the EC chief negotiated the multi-billion-euro deal with the pharmaceutical giant's CEO, Alber Bourla, in private via text messages before clinical trials for the vaccine were completed.

Von der Leyen has refused to disclose the content of those messages, claiming she cannot find them.

Investigators from the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), who have been working on the case for the past few months, reportedly believe that Von der Leyen may be guilty of "interference in public functions, destruction of SMS, corruption and conflict of interest," according to legal documents seen by Politico.

Despite the allegations and von der Leyen herself admitting that she privately communicated with Bourla for nearly a month before signing the nearly €20 billion ($21.5 billion) deal, no formal charges have yet been brought against the EC chief.

The case has been supported by the governments of Poland and Hungary, which have also filed official complaints about Von der Leyen's role in the vaccine negotiations, Politico's sources said. The outlet noted, however, that Warsaw moved to withdraw the complaint after Prime Minister Donald Tusk's pro-EU government came to power last year.

The New York Times, which first reported in 2021 that private conversations between Von der Leyen and Bourla had indeed taken place prior to the signing of the vaccine deal, has also filed a lawsuit against the EC for refusing to disclose the content of the text messages and turning down a request for access to documents.

The case against the EC chief has garnered "extremely high public interest," according to EU officials, amid concerns that the bloc purchased significantly more Covid shots than were necessary.

In December last year, Politico reported that EU states had dumped at least 215 million doses, which had cost taxpayers as much as €4 billion ($4.3 billion). Despite this, the vaccines will continue flowing to the EU under the contract with Pfizer, at least until 2027.
As if an example was called for in these times of fluidity, Ursula von der Leyen has shown that women can be as accomplished in the arts of corruption and warmongering as any man.
The US and the UK are pushing for total war on all fronts
Finally, EU President Ursula von der Leyen has suddenly dramatically increased economic warfare on China, pushing the European Commission to open probes on scores of Chinese exports. Where exactly did all this come from?

It's almost as if the US and its allies seized upon the tensions between Iran and Israel in order to "whitewash" their slate and double down on a series of objectives they are otherwise losing public support for, including the war in Ukraine, but also Israel's invasion of Gaza. One has to wonder if the Israeli attack on the Iranian compound in Damascus, which provoked Tehran's response, was deliberately staged, coordinated and planned for this purpose. It served the mutually convenient goal of letting both Prime Minister Netanyahu and Western governments off the hook for whatever opposition they had otherwise faced.

Moscow: US politicians 'living in Wonderland'

Washington insists the Ukraine conflict must be settled based on the UN Charter, but backs Kiev's 'peace formula,' the Foreign Ministry says

US calls for Russia to hold talks on ending the Ukraine conflict seem detached from reality and ignore Moscow's previous attempts to reach a settlement, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken insisted on Monday that Moscow's alleged plans "to erase Ukraine from the map... failed." He added that he hopes Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken note of Western support for Ukraine, "gets the message, and demonstrates a willingness to genuinely negotiate consistent with the basic principles... of the international community and the UN Charter: sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence."

Responding to Blinken's remarks later that day, Zakharova said American politicians seem to live in a "wonderland."

Comment: Russia has finally lost patience with the West. And while it will always remain open to dialogue, it has no intentions of being played for a fool again. Moscow has learned the lessons of Minsk. The SMO will continue "until all objectives have been achieved."

The experts repeatedly emphasize that Russia is isolated, which, if true, would not be the first time this has happened in its history. But, looking at reality closely, this Robinsonian Russian isolation is very peculiar because Russia's ostracism is alleviated by China and North Korea; Iran and Syria; India, South Africa and Brazil; Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali; Serbia and Belarus; Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua; Libya, Yemen and Algeria; not to mention its less committed partners, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, fickle Turkey, Indonesia or Kazakhstan. And I am sure I am leaving out many others. The clever policy of Biden and his European puppets has succeeded in forming a bloc between Moscow and Beijing that has served as a pole of attraction for all the nations that want to free themselves from the Anglo-Saxon noose. It seems incredible that the liberal hierarchs have forgotten Kissinger's intelligent policy of confronting the two decisive powers of the Eurasian Heartland, the abc of strategy and diplomacy. Does this not enter the manuals of gender, resistant, matriarchal and animalistic Geopolitics?

During my last stay in "isolated" Moscow, I had the good fortune to talk to people from all corners of the wide world, from Tanzania to El Salvador, passing through Indonesia. I was especially interested in the opinion of my African colleagues, protagonists of one of the most important geopolitical changes of the last decade: the disappearance of French influence in the Sahel, which occurred when Paris exhausted the patience of the military of those States, who realized that the Islamist threat from which Paris had come to protect them was financed by their alleged protector, who took advantage of the occasion to take the uranium of the area at a bargain price. The succession of African revolutions in recent years was not sought by the Kremlin; Russia came to the Sahel at the request of states that needed to protect themselves both from France and from the various Islamist organizations in cahoots with Paris and Qatar.

I have just been immersed in an extraordinary experience: a mini-tour of conferences in Brazil encompassing four key cities - Sao Paulo, Rio, Salvador, Belo Horizonte. Full houses, sharp questions, fabulously warm people, divine gastronomy - a deep dive into the 8th largest economy in the world and major BRICS+ node.

As much as I was trying to impress the finer points of the long and winding road to multipolarity and the multiple instances of frontal clash between NATOstan and the Global Majority, I was learning non-stop from an array of generous Brazilians about the current inner contradictions of a society of astonishing complexity.

European country tells people not to wear symbol of WWII victory over Nazis

Moldova's police chief has branded the St. George's ribbon, a hallmark of Victory Day celebrations in Russia, a "symbol of aggression"

Moldovan authorities have explicitly warned citizens against wearing St. George's ribbon during the upcoming WWII Victory Day celebrations. The orange and black strip of material, a popular commemoration symbol in Russia and most other former Soviet republics, has been deemed a "symbol of aggression" by Moldova's police chief.

Referring to the St. George's ribbon, Viorel Cernauteanu, the head of the General Police Inspectorate, told a news briefing on Monday that "Selling, storing, producing and wearing a two-color ribbon, which is a symbol of aggression is currently banned," adding "We all must abide by the rules."

Moldova borders Romania and according to the Wiki a vote in parliament in 2023 changed the official language from Moldovan to Romanian.

Given the ambitions of the current government in Moldova to become a part of the EU, and the close proximity to Romania, the measure about prohibiting St George ribbons could be a step in the "European integration". Besides, if Moldova joins Romania it "would not look good" if some newly minted Romanians would have yearly yearning wearing Saint George ribbons, considering the history of Romania in World War II:
On 22 June 1941, German armies with a massive Romanian support attacked the Soviet Union. German and Romanian units conquered Bessarabia, Odessa, and Sevastopol, then marched eastward across the Russian steppes toward Stalingrad. Romania welcomed the war because it allowed them to retake lands annexed by the Soviet Union a year prior. Hitler rewarded Romania's loyalty by returning Bessarabia and northern Bukovina and by allowing Romania to administer Soviet lands immediately between the Dniester and the Bug, including Odessa and Nikolaev.[11] Romanian jingoes in Odessa even distributed a geography showing that the Dacians had inhabited most of southern Russia.[1][12] After recovering Bessarabia and Bukovina (Operation München), Romanian units fought side by side with the Germans onward to Odessa, Sevastopol, Stalingrad and the Caucasus. The total number of troops involved on the Eastern Front with the Romanian Third Army and the Romanian Fourth Army was second only to that of Nazi Germany itself. The Romanian Army had a total of 686,258 men under arms in the summer of 1941 and a total of 1,224,691 men in the summer of 1944.[13]The number of Romanian troops sent to fight in the Soviet Union exceeded that of all of Germany's other allies combined.

Now we are supposed to cheer government surveillance?

chained newspaper
They are wearing us down with shocking headlines and opinions. They come daily these days, with increasingly implausible claims that leave your jaw on the floor. The rest of the text is perfunctory. The headline is the takeaway, and the part designed to demoralize, deconstruct, and disorient.

A few weeks ago, the New York Times told us that "As It Turns Out, the Deep State Is Pretty Awesome." These are the same people who claim that Trump is trying to get rid of democracy. The Deep State is the opposite of democracy, unelected and unaccountable in every way, impervious to elections and the will of the people. Now we have the NYT celebrating this.

And the latest bears notice too: "Government Surveillance Keeps Us Safe." The authors are classic Deep Staters associated with Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush. They assure us that having an Orwellian state is good for us. You can trust them, promise. The rest of the content of the article doesn't matter much. The message is in the headline.

Washington moves on to Plan B against Russia

titanic
Here's what everyone needs to understand about Ukraine:

The United States has already moved on to Plan B. No, the Biden administration has not issued an official statement on the matter, but the shift has already begun. The Washington Brain-trust has abandoned any hope of winning the war outright (Plan A) and has, thus, adopted a different strategy altogether. (Plan B)

Plan B is a combination of two main elements:
  • A — A Strategy of Denial, which is 'a defensive approach designed to stop an adversary' from achieving its goals. In this case, the objective is to prolong the conflict for as long as possible to prevent Russian from achieving a clear victory. That is the top priority.
  • B — To continue to increase and intensify asymmetrical attacks on vital infrastructure and civilian areas in Russia proper in order to inflict as much damage on Russia as possible.

It's The End Of The Foreign Exchange Reserves As We Know It...

History eraser button

"Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, Boom!" — R.E.M.
The world we've known is over. The US Congress finally pushed the big red button. When the West froze around $300 billion of Russia's foreign exchange reserves in March 2022 it was the first step in breaking down the system of foreign exchange reserves that makes up the global economy.

Freezing assets of countries they are mad at isn't new behavior from the locusts that run the G-7 countries. We still have to listen to conservatards whine about Obama giving Iran back "pallets of cash" for signing the JCPOA (Iran Nuclear Deal) in 2015, when all he did was unfreeze assets we'd frozen in 1979...

... 1979, folks. Seriously. Get a grip on reality. Obama gave Iran back their money. I'm no Obama fan, far from it, but as payments go, it was really nothing.

Freezing assets, however, isn't really theft, it's just the tip.

The money frozen in 2022 was supposed to operate the same way. It was supposed to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin into ending the war in Ukraine. The theory being that the oligarchs whose money that represented would push Putin out of power to get that money back.

Theories, by the way, speaking as a scientist, mostly suck.

Putin used this to his advantage, rallying the world around him and to the burgeoning BRICS Alliance. It worked a treat and here we are with $90 per barrel oil, raging inflation and a shattered Ukraine.

Typically, the British call this, "money well spent."
