If you've ever taken a lifesaving course, you know there's a real possibility that a drowning person will drag you under and you'll both die. It's a lesson that should be kept in mind when discussing America's relationship with Israel. (adapted from)@LarryBoorstein
On Monday, Israel intensified its airstrikes on Rafah, bombing more than 50 sites in the heart of the city. Video footage on Twitter showed plumes of smoke rising from the makeshift encampments and residential buildings where more than 1.4 million refugees are presently huddled in the most densely populated place on earth. Israel's air campaign was accompanied by a sizable ground-offensive that deployed tanks and armored vehicles to the southern border where Israeli troops quickly seized the Rafah Crossing without resistance.

The sudden uptick in violence has triggered widespread panic among the Palestinians many of who have already gathered their families and belongings onto carts and buses and fled northward to safety. The opening assault on the civilian enclave is reminiscent of earlier attacks on Gaza City and Khan Younis both of which followed a similar pattern. The launching of random bombings is designed to amplify feelings of terror within the population while the humanitarian blockade tightens the stranglehold on critical food and medical supplies. The objective here is not to kill as many Palestinians as possible, but to force them into sprawling tent cities where they will languish amid the rubble until the international community finds a way to spirit them out of the country. For Israel, the endgame has always been ethnic cleansing, a comprehensive erasure of the native population. The ground invasion of Rafah represents the final phase of that maniacal strategy. Best of the Web: Tyson Foods dumps 87 BILLION gallons of toxic waste, including cyanide, blood and feces into US rivers and lakes in just 4 years

tyson food waste pollution
The sheer scale of the poison flowing into the country's rivers and waterways is starting to emerge after scientists took a look at one of America's biggest meat processors.

Tyson Foods released 87 billion gallons contaminated with cancer-causing cyanide, nitrates, chloride, phosphorous and oil directly from 41 plants into public waters across 17 states between 2018 and 2022.

The toxic water would cover 165 square kilometers to a depth of two meters and fill three Olympic-sized swimming pools every hour.

But the study by the Union of Concerned Scientists looked at just two percent of meat processing plants nationwide leaving the total figure terrifyingly uncertain.

Comment: We see a similar disaster in the making over in the UK, which, in just the last few years, changed the laws so that industrial waste can be discharged at ever more deplorable levels. This has already resulted not only in the contamination and ruin of waterways and coastlines, but raw sewage levels have, increasingly, been so excessive that it's poisoning swimmers.

It's rather odd that these same governments, that are fearmongering about viral outbreaks - such as bird flu, but also TB, and blue tongue - and that are culling birds by the tens of millions, enforcing ever stringent biological restrictions, and concocting more questionable mRNA injections, have also, basically, made it legal to knowingly contaminate water supplies.

This, despite there already being good reason to believe that the bird flu that was recently detected in US cattle may have been because the cows were being fed the excreta and waste dredged together as 'fodder' for them from bird farms:

Best of the Web: AstraZeneca says it will withdraw Covid-19 vaccine globally... BECAUSE IT CAUSES BLOOD CLOTS

Comment: We told you so...

AstraZeneca
AstraZeneca on Tuesday announced that it has started the global withdrawal of its Covid-19 vaccine, days after the UK pharmaceutical company admitted that its vaccine has the potential to cause a rare side effect called Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS).

Comment: That's blood clots, by the way, which is why people learned to call these shots 'the clotshot'.

The company said the withdrawal was due to a "surplus of available updated vaccines" since the pandemic.

According to media reports, the Anglo-Swedish drugmaker had previously admitted in court documents that the vaccine causes side effects such as blood clots and low blood platelet counts.

The company also said its decision to remove the vaccine Vaxzevria's marketing authorizations within Europe, noting that this oversupply has resulted in a decrease in demand for Vaxzevria, which is no longer being produced or distributed.

Comment: Seems the world is catching up with the fact that the Covid vaccines have been (and will continue to) wreak havoc on the health of many millions of individuals.

The reason for pulling the clot-shot: a "surplus of available updated vaccines" - sounds like a lot of BS amid fears that greater awareness of vaccine injury, and the ensuing lawsuits, will continue to mount.

Best of the Web: Drowning in debt: The paralysis at the heart of the US fiscal crisis

us government debt
Washington is doing nothing about its deteriorating finances because there is nothing it can do without risking major upheaval

It can appear puzzling why at certain times in history a government facing a looming crisis simply does not address it. The problems accumulate in plain view while little is done to actually solve them. The human imagination being what it is, this inaction is inevitably attributed to some mix of corruption, malfeasance, and incompetence. And certainly the road to any system-level crisis is strewn with missteps and short-sighted policies. But there comes a point when the horizon of possibility has closed and there is simply nothing a government can do without unleashing forces that could easily overwhelm it.

In the strange and torpid final years of Tsarist rule in Russia, the unfolding crisis that would eventually result in the Russian Revolution seemed immobilized in a state of suspension as the country's major actors recoiled from taking decisive actions for fear of detonating the very cataclysm they had sought to avoid. Much has been made of the weakness and indecision of Nicholas II, but by those fateful last years the anachronistic Romanoff dynasty was collapsing and little could be done to stop it.

A young patient died due to cardiac arrest after receiving Pfizer's (PFE.N), experimental gene therapy being tested in a mid-stage trial for a muscle-wasting disorder called Duchenne muscular dystrophy(DMD), the drugmaker told Reuters on Tuesday.

"A fatal serious adverse event was reported as cardiac arrest for a participant in the Phase 2 DAYLIGHT study," a company spokesperson told Reuters in an emailed response.

Comment: It's notable that 'sudden' cardiac events are one of the serious side effects reported from the Covid mRNA injections. But, obviously, there were a myriad of other side effects reported, too, ranging from temporary to fatal.

The trial is testing boys 2 to three years of age with DMD, a genetic muscle wasting disorder in which most patients lack the protein dystrophin which keeps muscles intact. The disorder affects an estimated one-in-3,500 male births worldwide.

Comment: As we've seen with the covid mRNA injections, the side effects of these highly experimental 'gene therapies' are numerous and varied, and the time frame of these side effects ranges from immediate, to those that are the culmination of years of damage.

At least 10 people have died in floods caused by torrential rains in Brazil's south, authorities said Wednesday, as rescuers searched for nearly two dozen individuals reported missing.

Deluges in the state of Rio Grande do Sul have displaced some 3,300 people in more than 100 municipalities, many of whom have been moved to shelters.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced he would visit the area, which governor Eduardo Leite said was dealing with "the worst disaster in the history of our state."

Leite said work was continuing to locate the missing even as more heavy rains were forecast.

Comment: Update May 3

The BBC reports:
A hydroelectric dam has collapsed in southern Brazil after days of heavy rains that triggered massive flooding, killing more than 30 people.

Officials say another 60 people are missing in Rio Grande do Sul state.

About 15,000 residents have fled their homes since Saturday. At least 500,000 people are without power and clean water across the state.

The burst dam triggered a two-metre (6.6ft) wave, causing panic and further damage in the already flooded areas.

The dam is located between the municipality of Cotiporã and the city of Bento Gonçalves.
Update May 4

CGTN reports:
The death toll keeps climbing from continuous rains in Brazil's southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. At least 58 people have been killed, while another 67 remain missing according to the state's civil defense agency. The rains have triggered the worst floods in more than 80 years.

Update May 7

Reuters reports:
Rescuers rushed to evacuate people stranded by devastating floods across the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul on Tuesday, with 90 reported dead and desperate survivors seeking food and basic supplies.

On the outskirts of Eldorado do Sul, 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) from the state capital of Porto Alegre, many people who left their homes were sleeping on the roadside and told Reuters they were going hungry. Entire families were leaving on foot, carrying belongings in backpacks and shopping carts.

"We've been without food for three days and we've only just got this blanket. I'm with people I don't even know, I don't know where my family is," said a young man who gave his name as Ricardo Junior.

The flooding has hampered rescue efforts, with dozens of people still waiting to be evacuated by boat or helicopter from stricken homes. Small boats crisscrossed the flooded town searching for survivors.

The state's Civil Defense agency said the death toll has risen to 90 with another four deaths being investigated, while 131 people are still unaccounted for and 155,000 are homeless.

Heavy rains that began last week have caused rivers to flood, inundating whole towns and destroying roads and bridges.

In Porto Alegre, a city of 1.3 million inhabitants on the Guaiba river, downtown streets were under water.

Porto Alegre residents faced empty supermarket shelves and closed gas stations, with shops rationing sales of mineral water. The city distributed water in trucks to hospitals and shelters.

The floods have also impacted water and electricity services, with more than 1.4 million affected overall, according to Brazil's Civil Defense.

Donald Trump has accused US President Joe Biden's administration of stooping to the level of the Nazi secret police to prevent him from winning this year's election.

"These people are running a Gestapo administration," the former US leader told Republican donors at an event in Florida on Saturday, according to audio shared with multiple national news outlets. "And it's the only thing they have. And it's the only way they're going to win, in their opinion."

Trump is currently facing four criminal cases, including an ongoing trial in New York over his alleged misreporting of 'hush money' payments to porn star Stormy Daniels. In addition to the New York case, the former president and presumptive Republican nominee to challenge Biden this November faces two federal cases concerning his alleged incitement of the January 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill, and his alleged mishandling of classified documents. He also faces state-level racketeering charges in Georgia over his supposed efforts to challenge Biden's electoral victory in the state in 2020.

© AAPolice arrest Israelis and Syrians for organ trafficking in May 2024. Israel has long been at the center of international organ trafficking networks and has stolen organs from dead Palestinians
Police in the Turkish city of Adana detained 11 suspects, five Israeli and two Syrian, on allegations of organ trafficking, the Daily Sabah reported on 5 May.

The Provincial Directorate of Security's Anti-Smuggling and Border Gates Branch began investigating after examining the passports of seven individuals who arrived in Adana from Israel about a month ago by plane for the purpose of health tourism. The two Syrian nationals, ages 20 and 21, were found to have fake passports.

Further investigation revealed that Syrian nationals had each agreed to sell one of their own kidneys to two of the Israeli nationals, ages 68 and 28, for kidney transplants in Adana.

During searches at the suspects' residences, $65,000 and numerous fake passports were seized.

Best of the Web: Hungary, Italy reject Macron's 'dangerous' claim of possibly sending NATO troops to Ukraine

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó
FILE: Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó criticized French President Emmanuel Macron's statements about the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine.

According to Azernews, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Hungary said this on the air of the LCI TV channel.

"We consider these statements as a threat and we understand very well that if the Western troops are on the territory of Ukraine, the scale of the war will increase significantly," Szijjártó stressed.

Comment: It's likely that Szijjártó is well aware that Western troops are already operating on the ground in Ukraine, both as mercenaries, but also in 'advisory' roles, as well in a covert capacity.

According to the Hungarian diplomat, "the escalation of the conflict would be very dangerous."

Comment: Agenzia Novi reports:
Crosetto excludes the intervention of the Italian military in Ukraine: "Insist with diplomacy"

On the words of French President Macron: "I do not understand the purpose and usefulness of these declarations, which objectively raise tension"

Italy's position does not change: "We have always said that the Ukraine it needed to be helped in every possible way, and we are doing so, but we have also always excluded direct intervention by our military in the conflict". The Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, said in an interview with "Corriere della Sera" in relation to the new declarations of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, on the sending of troops to Ukraine.

As Defense Minister who "from the beginning" claimed that "Ukraine had to be helped to avoid an expansion of the conflict", today Crosetto asks not to raise tensions.

The West's 'help' has resulted in well over 500,000 dead Ukrainian troops and a significant loss of territory.

On the contrary, he seeks every form of dialogue, starting to "weave the web of diplomacy" and this because if a conflict explodes "Italy would have a lot to lose." Clear words from the minister who clearly reiterates that Italy will not participate in any possible armed intervention: "Absolutely not! No one can doubt this today."

Unlike others, the minister explained, "we have in our system an explicit prohibition on direct military interventions, outside of what is provided for by law and Constitution. We can only foresee armed interventions upon international mandate, for example in implementation of a UN resolution. The one hypothesized in Ukraine would not only not be included in this case, but would trigger a further spiraling of the conflict which would not be of benefit above all to the Ukrainians themselves. In short, the conditions for our direct involvement do not exist."

And on Macron's words, the minister added: "I don't judge a president of a friendly country like France, but I don't understand the purpose and usefulness of these declarations, which objectively raise tension."
Full text:
Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó: "If there are European or American soldiers in Ukraine, this will mean that we have crossed the red line drawn by NATO. If even one NATO member country sends its troops to Ukraine, this will mean a direct conflict with Russia, and this will mean the third world war Do any of us want this? I don't. This is not our war, because no one attacked Europe. The escalation of this conflict is very dangerous."
