ReRan yup, need some humour today, large ice storm moving through today and tomorrow turning the central north Ontario into a huge popsicle, thousands without power; was just outside with dog - large trees snapping all around, sounds like fireworks.
... thinking about my previous post, wasabi peas and all ...
if i had only shoved some ice cubes up there, ahem,
well... that would've been some cool sh!t eh ! 🤦♂️
We have had freezing rain now for two days, and so many folks lost their power. We've been okay so far, but there is much more bad weather on the way. We made sure the generator is running. Hopefully we don't get trees coming down. That is not fun. And noisy? Never thought of that...
ReRan was replying to your other reply to me from 24 hrs ago but internet crashed now cant find it.
hope you are all well too and no damage your way; in all my years i have never seen an ice storm roll through with such devastation. things are depressing for many in the Peterborough - Kawartha Lakes region. ~ 140 thousand homes without power, houses, barns, cars crushed; temps have been going down to - 9C overnight do at least it's not mid january, many will not have power for weeks. we lost power last Saturday and likely won't have it restored until next week, but we have lots of wood for the stove and fuel for the generator to run the well pump and a few needed things.
these past few days have shown me, on a real visceral level, who we really are, as human beings; who gives without wanting, who does nothing for others, who says thank you, who speaks to you without words with pain in their bones but love in their eyes.
thank you for asking RR ❤️, life family & dog are all safe; no damage to house, buildings, or critters, yet hundreds of trees are now match sticks. Unfortunately many in the urban areas are not as fortunate.
going to be busy for weeks here, i'll be back, cheers eh !
life Thanks for letting me know. And yes, so many stories of really good people. Makes one feel so much better, just to hear them. I did hear from different people that the noise was constant, trres and branches falling. Drove to Barrie today, and much more damage than here. We got off lucky. Another one coming tomorrow, ugh. You take good care. Cheers to you and yours!
ReRan Hi neighbour ! hydro came back on last night; spent today cutting broken limbs and fallen trees. Glad to hear you weren't in the heavy of it ! Have a happy weekend !
ymmv but i experienced a similar plume, different direction.
yeah, i know, tmi
