Chicago Mayor Brandon and the statue of George Washington in the City Hall
Alderman Nick Sposato (38th), the chair of the City Council's Committee on Cultural Affairs and Special Events, told the Sun-Times, "When does this stop — the redoing everything and eliminating everything? I just don't get it."
"He's George Washington. He risked everything. We are who we are because of this man."
Cut by Tuesday, the Mayor reversed course after intense backlash.

But shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Johnson administration reversed course. Sposato got the news in a phone call from senior mayoral adviser Jason Lee.
"It's not coming down. It's staying right where it is," Sposato told the Sun-Times.
Over the centuries, more european's have been taken for slaves than ever left Africa for america. We do not see these ex slaves considering bringing down statues in Rome, Carthage, or Turkiye. Some people need to get some perspective. So far through history, every race of people on the planet have been wronged along the way. People like Brandon are beginning to sound like the chosen one's who can neither forgive nor forget.
