It is now clear that the political path taken is that of an infinite emergency. The state of emergency was approved for the first time by the Council of Ministers on January 31, 2020 by the Conte government. The extension has been extended until December 31, 2021. The duration of the national state of emergency, as provided for by Article 24 of Legislative Decree 1/2008, cannot exceed 12 months and can be extended for no more than a further 12 months. . But despite this, the state of emergency has been extended until March 31, 2022. Incredible.
The words of criticism of the matter by the jurist Ugo Mattei in Piazzapulita are very harsh: "Many people who are afraid have been victimized by two years of devastating media hype, on the basis of serious and worrying elements but not sufficient to do what the government has fact: that is, extending the state of emergency until the end of March, even going beyond the two-year limit that the civil protection law would have allowed. It is of an unprecedented gravity from a legal point of view ".
From a philosophical point of view, however, it is important to emphasize that freedom and health cannot be separated, as people enjoy physical well-being in order to create businesses, works of art, music, share the joys of social relationships, get married and procreate, travel and much more. But some might object with the usual phrase: "But there is a pandemic". True, Covid certainly represents a danger to health, but an even more serious risk hangs over modern societies, that is, the definitive loss of individual freedoms, because if the idea passes that one must live only in "safety", even at the cost to do nothing more, giving up practically everything, at which point the citizens become objects to be controlled, and the objects have no health.
Not surprisingly, I will repeat it over and over again, even if I were to remain the only one in society to defend the communion between freedom and health, it is precisely the WHO that reinforces this idea with its definition of the state of health. According to the WHO Constitution, the objective of the Organization is "the achievement, by all populations, of the highest possible level of health", defined as "a state of total physical, mental and social well-being" and not simply "absence of disease or infirmity".
