Xi Jinping: Russia and China can create an alliance before which NATO will be powerless

Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in his speech on July 1* noted the strategic need for an alliance between Russia and China, which in his opinion will determine the future world order.
"The world is on the verge of radical change. We see how the EU is gradually collapsing, how the US economy is crashing, and all this will end with a new world order. So, as never before, in 10 years we will have a new world order, in which the tandem of China and Russia will be the key," Xi Jinping said.
In his opinion, the relations between Russia and China should not be limited just to economic ones, these two countries can create an alternative to NATO.
"We are now witnessing aggressive acts on the part of the US, both against Russia and China. I believe that Russia and China can create an alliance before which NATO will be powerless and it will mark the end of the imperialist aspirations of the West," he noted.
Xi Jinping also believes that China needs to modernize its army.
"The creation of an army that corresponds to the international status of our country is a strategic task. We must combine economic development with the development of defense, modernizing the army so that it is standardized and up-to-date... We must comprehensively promote reform in the military sphere in order to create an army that would be disciplined and could be victorious," Xi Jinping said at a gala meeting on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party
