dog attack
Two kids were injured after a pack of dogs attacked them in Quitman on Thursday evening. Their mother was also found dead at the scene, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The incident happened on Thursday, May 9 on Webster Street at a bus stop behind the Brooks County Middle School. The juveniles were taken to a hospital after the reported dog attacks.

Courtney Williams, 35, was found dead in the yard of the residence according to a GBI report.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the death investigation.

The GBI said in a statement:
"When deputies arrived, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property. It was determined the juveniles had already been transported to a local hospital by a private citizen. Deputies subsequently located the body of Courtney Williams, white female, 35 years of age, in the yard of the residence."
WALB spoke with a neighbor who said she was saddened by the tragedy, just days before Mother's Day.

"I do feel for the family and for the kids because now they are going to have to celebrate Mother's Day without their mother," she said.

Some Brooks County residents told WALB that they have been complaining about the need for more animal control.

"People dump dogs all over the county and no one can get help with them because there's no county animal control. Praying for this woman's family. This is so sad," one resident said.

The GBI is conducting an autopsy to determine the official cause of death, as the case is still active and ongoing.
