Chinese 'true crime' novelist sentenced to death for committing the murders that inspired his work

Liu Mouyi

A famous crime fiction writer in China's Zhejiang Province has turned out to be a robber with four deaths on his conscience. He and his accomplice were exposed two decades after the crime thanks to new DNA testing technology.

The writer, Liu Mouyi, and a second man, Wang Mouming, were convicted by a court in the city of Huzhou on Monday. They were found guilty of killing and robbing a family of hotel owners, including an elderly couple and their 12-year-old grandson, as well as a guest who was staying for the night.

The crime was committed in 1995, but only after new technology was developed did police identify DNA in saliva on a cigarette butt that was left at the crime scene by one of the robbers. Liu and Wang have been sentenced to capital punishment for the murders, while their property was confiscated to pay compensation to the relatives of their victims.

Comment: Sounds like Liu's only 'remorseful' that he got caught. Someone with true remorse probably wouldn't seek fame and money writing fiction that glorified their heinous crimes.
In the preface to his 2010 novel The Guilty Secret, Liu even described his intention to write a story about a writer who gets away with committing a series of murders.

"I came up with the idea after reading some detective novels and watching crime shows and movies," Liu wrote in the preface. "The working title is: 'The Beautiful Writer Who Killed.'"

'Absolutely awful': Heart attack victim waits 43 minutes before getting to hospital

Chicago ambulance
Minutes count when you are having a heart attack, but it took the Chicago Fire Department more than 40 minutes to get a 56-year-old man to a hospital for help.

As CBS 2 Investigator Pam Zekman reports, it was mostly because once again there were no ambulances available nearby.
Caller: "My Dad's having a heart attack and I need an ambulance right now."
That call was received at 2:09 p.m. on July 3.

BBC's Newsnight will air a special on WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange hosted by journalist John Sweeney, despite what the #FreeAssange campaign say are tweets in "clear breach" of the BBC objectivity standards by the journalist.

"John Sweeney put in charge of tomorrow's Julian Assange special despite (because of?) malicious tweets in clear breach of BBC code," the #FreeAssange campaign tweeted.

The campaign, which has more than 790,000 followers on Twitter published a list of tweets in which the BBC journalist repeatedly mocks and calls the Wikileaks founder a "Russian agent," a "Kremlin asset" and Vladimir Putin's most "useful idiot". But, despite Sweeney's personal feelings about Assange being on full display all over Twitter, he will still host the special on the whistleblower.

Comment: Any talk of 'objectivity standards' at the BBC is public relations, pure and simple.

VIPS to Trump: War with Iran could be CATASTROPHIC

MEMORANDUM FOR: The President

FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)

SUBJECT: Intelligence on Iran Fails the Smell Test

Mr. President:

As the George W. Bush administration revved up to attack Iraq 15 years ago, we could see no compelling reason for war. We decided, though, to give President Bush the benefit of the doubt on the chance he had been sandbagged by Vice President Dick Cheney and others. We chose to allow for the possibility that he actually believed the "intelligence" that Colin Powell presented to the UN as providing "irrefutable and undeniable" proof of WMD in Iraq and a "sinister nexus" between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda.

Father gives his children laxatives then films them crying in pain for YouTube hits

Cordero James Brady
A YouTube dad who posted pictures of his children in pain on the toilet after he fed them laxatives had his account suspended and is being investigated by child services.

Cordero James Brady, 29, gave his children ice cream laced with the laxatives then shared the video with his 5.6million followers on his monetised channel 'CJ SO COOL'.

The prank appeared to make the children physically sick, but Brady jokes as one of them says 'my stomach hurts' by responding 'oh my goodness, this boy's stomach is broken'.

Comment: The content of these 'pranks' is already disturbing. That they choose to abuse and exploit their children to make money, feed their narcissism, and that they find it amusing, is disgusting:

The Russian Army says its huge rearmament program has transformed the nation into a world leader in terms of new military hardware. Today, around half of the army's heavy equipment, such as tanks and artillery, is top-notch.

Over the past five years, the army received more than 25,000 pieces of new hardware, like tanks and armored combat vehicles, and more than 4,000 pieces of modern artillery and missile launchers, Deputy Defense Minister Army General Dmitry Bulgakov told reporters on Wednesday.

"According to independent expert agencies, in 2017, Russia had topped the world ranking in terms of such military hardware," the general said, as quoted by RIA Novosti news agency.

Bulgakov also mentioned that around 50 percent of the existing military hardware is now completely new.

Russia is undergoing a massive rearmament process, decommissioning old Soviet-era weaponry and replacing it with modern types of armor and firepower.

Jordan Peterson gives warning to parents: 'Dangerous people are indoctrinating young minds' at colleges

Jordan Peterson
Canadian professor Jordan Peterson warned Tuesday of the expansion of humanitarian disciplines on college campuses, especially at "radical" liberal institutions.

Peterson warned parents in a video about sending their children to liberal colleges, saying that by doing so, they'd be "supporting ideologues who claim that all truth is subjective, that all sex differences are socially constructed."

"If you're a taxpayer or paying for your kid's liberal arts degree, you're underwriting this gang of nihilists. You're supporting ideologues who claim that all truth is subjective, that all sex differences are socially constructed, and that western imperialism is the sole source of all Third World problems. They're the post-modernists pushing progressive activism at a college near you," said Peterson in the PragerU video.

Appearing on "Fox & Friends," Peterson backed up his remarks and said that on all levels of education, faculties are mostly comprised of radical people.

"Ideologues have a very simple way of looking at the world," he said. "They reduce it to a few principles like inequality and unfairness and power."

SOTT Focus: Brexit Has Exposed The Rotten Foundations of Britain's Political System

Brexit has exposed the rotten foundations of Britain's political system, corroded by that most pernicious of maladies: rank opportunism.

Khrushchev's logic and democracy as a zero sum game

With the kind of homespun logic for which he was famous, and which never failed to cut through the fog of theoretical obfuscations spouted by ideologues for whom reality is often a foreign land, Nikita Khrushchev once sagely opined that "you can't make soup out of an idea." Yet if the former Soviet premier dared offered this opinion to proponents of a 'hard Brexit' today he would be accused of attempting to betray the will of the British people, of subverting democracy - of being a shill for Brussels.

Regardless, Khrushchev's words do more to place in perspective the most far reaching political crisis to engulf Westminster since the Second World War than any of the ideologically-heavy but reality-light arguments that have been swirling around Brexit since the British people, by a small majority proportionate to turnout, elected to leave the EU in the referendum that was held on the question back in 2016.

It reminds us that when democracy lapses into a zero sum game of winner-take-all it becomes a tyranny of the majority, attacking the bonds of social cohesion that are essential to stability - without this kind of stability nothing exists, including democracy. Just ask people in Russia, those who went through the hell of the 1990s, if democracy should be regarded as an end rather than the means to an end. Ask them if you can make soup out of an idea.

Comment: The UK is just one of many countries that realises it needs to take control of its own future. But the author needn't worry: Britain will remain in the EU: Why 'Brexit' outcome is a foregone conclusion

Facebook users slam NATO's online 'detect fake news' game - call it 'ridiculous propaganda'

The News Hero / Facebook

A new NATO-developed Facebook game, which claims to help users differentiate between real and fake news, is proving to be a complete flop with users who are dismissing it as "propaganda".

The News Hero takes the player inside the editorial office of a fictional newspaper where they are tasked with sifting through various news stories and choosing which ones are real or fake with the aid of hints provided by a fact checker. The more real news the player publishes, the more points they accrue which in turn allows them to expand their office.

"The News Hero is an online education game designed to burst the bubble of an elite dominated discussion about critical thinking and empower the society to become more conscious readers through a gamified approach," the developers wrote on Facebook.

Comment: Chalk it up to NATO's obvious and stupid attempts to further propagandize Westerners and demonize Russia. And oh boy are they trying!

Afghan migrant whose deportation was halted by Swedish SJW 'hero' was actually being extradited over assault

Elin Ersson
© FacebookElin Ersson, a student at Gothenburg University, was subjected to fawning media coverage over her stunt earlier this month when she refused to take her seat on the plane until the 52-year-old Afghan deportee was released. She was successful and authorities werenโ€™t able to deport the man.
The Swedish student who was branded a "hero" and captured worldwide attention after she stopped the deportation of an Afghan migrant by refusing to sit down on a plane instead prevented the extradition of a man sentenced for assault and whose asylum application was rejected.

Elin Ersson, a student at Gothenburg University, was subjected to fawning media coverage over her stunt earlier this month when she refused to take her seat on the plane until the 52-year-old Afghan deportee was released. She was successful and authorities weren't able to deport the man.

However, Swedish Police confirmed to Fox News that the man whose deportation Ersson prevented had received a prison sentence in Sweden for assault. The police spokesman declined to go into more details about the crime the migrant has committed. His asylum application was also rejected.

Comment: This is what happens when triggered feelings are willingly allowed to conquer reason. SJW activism has little regard for details like context or background information. Modern liberalism is rushing to the defense of criminality, no doubt because much of the same entitled mindset is shared among their most vocal advocates.
