What a story ! Yeah, people die. Some weeks more than others.
At least they can pump up the COVID death toll by another 17.
In fact, it's not even the water, it's the panic. You float, relax.
I'm not a strong swimmer, and I got myself into difficulty in rivers a few times as a kid, but I didn't panic, and the worst outcome was a very long cold wet walk home from god only knows how far downstream...
As for the sea, I'm more worried about being eaten or stung and poisoned.
I mean, people drown all the time off the coast of Cornwall 'cause of Atlantic crazy currents, rapid incoming tides, etc.
Also, the remorseless currents of the Thames can suck you under pretty quickly.
But drowning in ponds and canals where there are no currents?
Weird.
