Christian83 I wouldn't recommend it myself. Not that there couldn't be some medical uses for DMT, I really don't know?

However, Hannock and Strassman seem to be promoting DMT use for some peak experience or Spiritual enlightenment. That is misguided I reckon, as striving for such requires a lot of work. There is no fast track ticket to get one there and one cannot ''take the kingdom by storm.'' The seekers of such need to learn to deal with reality in ''planet human'' and learn the necessary lessons there , rather than seek learning in other dimensions. I think it was Ibn al-Arabi who said that the spiritual worlds are more dangerous than the most dangerous jungles on Earth!

I wouldn't mess with it.

I am not really disputing that, and I don't know either way. Some people report good results, so why not.

However, using these substances for spiritual insights, access to other realms etc, is another matter.

Rowan Cocoan Well for me, reading, the EE breathing & meditation programm, diet, contemplation, sharing viewpoints, reading others viewpoints, work on oneself etc, is far more effective than taking drugs. I think that seeking knowledge requires a lot of work on a consistent basis. Taking drugs is a shortcut, that will shortcircuit the seeker eventually.

When referencing 'drugs' are you including or exempting nicotine? Caffeine?

I've once had a physiological addiction to caffeine - from three cups a day. How did I know? I'd get a headache if I go without. But one cup a day is simply microdosing.

graeme15b I'm talking about psychoactive drugs - and my point is that psilocybin (which has never had an LD50 calculated for it, - the guess is that one would have to eat more than half one's weight in dried mushrooms - and that's only on rats which are WAY more susceptible to psychoactive drugs.

I.e., Psilocybin's 'apparent' danger is simply societally inspired due to its dearth in our society (contra our ubiquitous caffeine & nicotine) as it ipsilocybin s significantly SAFER than nicotine and caffeine.

(E.g., I'm not talking about water or baking soda, either of which can kill one through overdose or withdrawal, respectively.)

Rowan Cocoan Psilocybin is a hallucinogenic. I don't know what the median lethal dose would be in humans, but I wouldn't recommend using it for ''the work.'' Nicotine may be more lethal to humans regarding the mass needed to administer a lethal dose, however, the dose in a cigarette is way way below that threshold. There are many articles here on the benefits of nicotine.

I don't dispute the potential medical applications of psilocybin, DMT etc, just the usage for ''peak experiences'' and the like. Apparently, those who have used DMT report that they had encounters with all sorts of beings. One could be opening a door that is best left shut. I wouldn't mess with it.
