What the Arab world thinks of Russia's military operation against Ukraine

Putin and Abu Dhabi's crown prince
Two years after the start of the conflict, Moscow's partnerships in the Middle East continue to develop

On February 24, 2022, President Vladimir Putin announced the start of Russia's special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. Many experts call this date a turning point in world history, and some saw it as Russia becoming the military spearhead of the "global South" in the fight against the fading world order based on the destructive hegemony of the West. The Ukraine crisis has triggered a breakdown of the system and principles of international security that was formed after the end of the Cold War.

An analysis of the conflict in Ukraine reveals two dimensions that complicate the process of its potential settlement. These are the two dimensions that the well-known Russian expert Fyodor Lukyanov wrote about in one of his recent articles. First, there are the issues of national self-identification - the "historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians", about which Putin wrote in his 2021 article. Second, there are the guarantees of military-political security for Russia in view of the permanent expansion of NATO and its hostile rhetoric towards Moscow.

Ukraine's frontline situation 'catastrophic' - Moscow

People are waking up to the fact that they have been betrayed by the West, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said

Nothing can save Kiev from the "monstrous" and "catastrophic" situation its forces face on the frontline, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed in an interview with Sputnik radio on Monday.

Even comments by French President Emmanuel Macron that sending Western troops into Ukraine was not out of the question will not be enough to change the minds of the Ukrainian people, who have started to wake up to the fact that they have been betrayed by the West, she added.

The French leader made the comment a meeting of representatives from 20 Western nations, when Paris proposed the scenario of sending Western ground forces to Ukraine. Although a consensus on the proposal was not reached during that meeting, Macron has said that, in the future, such a scenario could not be ruled out.

Comment: All those heads of state that deny they will send troops to Ukraine have lied repeatedly. Did they not initially say no heavy weapons only light weapons, intelligence support and financial aid? After a while it became heavy weapons but no tanks, then tanks but no longer range missiles, then longer range artillery and missiles but definitely no planes, then planes. Now they discuss troops, while it comes out they have already had some people in there, just not officially, and the CIA must have been doing something with secret bases and establishing bunkers along the borders for the last ten years.

Already many of the leaders of the nations that say no troops, have done much that was against the interests of the people and their nations. That is not to say there is no limit, and that one day they will not say something with respect to how far they will go with Ukraine, that time will prove to be true. It is possible that day has arrived now, but we still have to wait and see.

For now, the situation is:

An unexpected incident unfolds as the German frigate 'Hessen' mistakenly attacks a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone, highlighting the complexities of international military operations and the critical need for clear communication and reliable technology.

On Monday, an unexpected incident unfolded over the Red Sea as the German frigate 'Hessen' mistakenly launched an attack on a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone. This event not only underscores the risks of military misfires but also casts a shadow over the diplomatic and military relations between Germany and the United States.

Comment: Germany is readily doing the US' bidding, for both keep the proxy war in Ukraine, and the Gaza genocide, and so it's unlikely this will cause to much of a disruption in their relations.

The missiles, which malfunctioned and plunged into the sea, brought to light the vulnerabilities in current military operations and the potential for unintended consequences.
Chronology of the Incident

Comment: Not only have the German Navy now inducted themselves into rapidly growing Western military hall of shame, but by participating in the Red Sea operation against Yemen, which is the West's facilitation of Israel's genocide in Gaza, their commercial shipping will no longer be allowed to pass through that route, significantly raising costs and delivery times for their citizens and their businesses: Meanwhile in Russia: Russian arms production has Europe's warmongers worried

Multiple European leaders have denied any official plans to send troops into Ukraine to fight against Russia

The unofficial presence of Western special forces in Ukraine is a matter of common knowledge, the Financial Times wrote on Tuesday, citing a senior European defense official, speaking anonymously.

The comment came in response to French President Emmanuel Macron's earlier suggestion of potential NATO deployments in Ukraine.

Speaking to the media after a gathering of European leaders in Paris on Monday, Macron said there was "no consensus [at the meeting] to send, in an official manner, troops on the ground, but in terms of dynamics, we cannot exclude anything." He also promised to stop at nothing to prevent Russia from winning the conflict.

There are different western actors in Ukraine:

Ukraine's shelling of Russian civilians - a significant part of which was carried out from Avdeevka in the years prior - is happening at Kiev's behest and with the tacit consent of Western states, the deputy head of the Russian General Staff, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy, told Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper on Monday.

The US and its allies pump Ukraine full of weapons and provide it with communications services and intelligence information, but some of the equipment requires qualified Western personnel on the ground, the official said.
"NATO soldiers disguised as mercenaries participate in the military operations. They control air defense systems, operational-tactical missiles, and multiple launch rocket systems, and enter into assault detachments," Rudskoy said.
NATO officers directly prepare military operations for the Ukrainian armed forces.

State Dept downplays reports of Israeli soldiers sexually abusing, slaughtering Palestinian women

Matthew Miller Spokesperson for the United States Department of State
While falsely claiming to have received "independent confirmation" of since-debunked assertions of mass rape by Hamas, the State Department's spokesman said he "cannot independently verify" allegations by UN human rights experts that Israeli soldiers have sexually abused and systematically slaughtered Palestinian women and girls in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The US State Department has downplayed the findings of UN human rights experts who received "credible allegations" that Israeli soldiers have raped, tortured, and executed Palestinian women and girls amid their siege of Gaza.

US media has similarly overlooked the UN human rights report, focusing instead on yet another dubious report by the Israeli Association of Rape Crisis Centers alleging the deployment of "systematic sexual violence" by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

As The Grayzone's Max Blumenthal reported, the Israeli report was "short on new research, absent of hard evidence, and reliant instead on clips from factually-challenged articles by the same Western outlets promoting its publication." Its publication was funded by US-based Israel lobby heavyweights involved in a public relations scheme to justify the ongoing siege of Gaza.

Kremlin comments after another EU state drops Nord Stream probe

Copenhagen must have found "close allies" when searching for the culprits behind the sabotage, a spokesman has suggested

The Danish decision to end its investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines under the Baltic Sea was probably motivated by Copenhagen's unwillingness to establish the truth about the crime, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has suggested.

The energy links built to bring Russian natural gas directly to Germany were ruptured by unknown perpetrators in a series of explosions in September 2022. Germany as well as Denmark and Sweden, in whose economic zones the sabotage took place, had each launched separate inquiries. Sweden closed its probe earlier this month.

The "naive" West should realize that security comes at a price, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen says

EU nations must prioritize defense spending by carving out money from social programs to deter Russia amid the Ukraine conflict, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has argued.

In an interview with the Financial Times on Tuesday, Frederiksen said the EU should try to avoid the mistakes of the 1930s, when the continent failed to check Nazi Germany's expansion, and focus on what she called a "more aggressive Russia" by "scaling up" defense.

Russia has stated that one of its key objectives in the Ukraine conflict is to "denazify" the neighboring country. Kiev's failure to implement the Minsk agreements, which were designed to give the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state, was a significant contributory factor to the conflict.

Former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko has since admitted that Kiev's goal regarding the agreements was to use the ceasefire to buy time and "create powerful armed forces," a position which was later echoed by ex-German Chancellor Angela Merkel and ex-French President Francois Hollande, who helped broker the agreement.

Frederiksen urged European powers "to admit that we haven't used enough money on our own defense and security" since the end of the Cold War, pouring funds into welfare and tax reduction instead.

Biden calls China's Xi 'head of Russia'

US President Joe Biden has again stumbled with the nationalities and identities of world leaders, referring to Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping as the "head of Russia" and failing to remember the name of his former boss, Barack Obama.

The oldest president in American history made his latest mental gaffes while hosting a White House dinner for US governors on Saturday night. Referring to instructions he received from then-President Obama, Biden said, "When I was vice president, president uh, my president told me that he wanted me to get to know Xi Jinping because it was clear he was going to be the head of Russia, um, of China, and we were having problems with Russia at the time, and other countries as well."

Biden then went on to make a false claim that he has repeated dozens of times, saying that he traveled 17,000 miles with Xi in the US and China. The Washington Post gave Biden a "bottomless Pinocchio" rating in November 2022 for telling the false tale on so many occasions. The newspaper's fact-checker, Glenn Kessler, could only find one trip in which Biden and Xi traveled together, when they visited a high school outside Beijing in August 2021.

Nuland accidentally reveals the true aim of the West in Ukraine

© Global Look Press / Rod LamkeyVictoria Nuland
US State Department fixture and Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, aka "Regime Change Karen," apparently woke up one day recently, took the safety off her nuclear-grade mouth, and inadvertently blew up the West's Ukraine narrative.

Until now, Americans have been told that all the US taxpayer cash being earmarked for Ukrainian aid is to help actual Ukrainians. Anyone notice that the $75 billion American contribution isn't getting the job done on the battlefield? Victory in military conflict isn't supposed to look like defeat. Winning also isn't defined as, "Well, on a long enough time axis, like infinity, our chance of defeat will eventually approach zero." And the $178 billion in total from all allies combined doesn't seem to be doing the trick, either. Short of starting a global war with weapons capable of extending the conflict beyond a regional one, it's not like they've been holding back. The West is breaking the bank. All for some vague, future Ukrainian "victory" that they don't seem to want to clearly define. We keep hearing that the support will last "as long as it takes." For what exactly? By not clearly defining it, they can keep moving the goal posts.
