SOTT Focus: Sarkozy - Hello NATO, Goodbye France

Image
That Sarkozy was always going to eviscerate France's tenuous military and political neutrality once he took office should have been obvious to all. Long before he somehow managed to win the 2007 French elections, he was already known as 'Sarko the American' not to mention 'President Bling Bling'. It seems it's just not possible for a French politician to truly admire the American empire builders (as Sarko seems to) and not grovel at their feet.

After all there are great personal advantages to be had from aligning oneself and one's nation (whether they like it or not) with the last great empire. There is the sense of being on the "winning side" (who now can stand up to the US juggernaut?). There is immediate access to the massive resources, influence and intelligence assets of the empire through which previously impossible goals become not just possible but a matter of policy.

Up until Sarkozy's nomination as President last year, France had a 40 year long history of staunch opposition to the type of US diplomacy that has brought us the ludicrous yet deadly "war on terror". As long as there was a major world power that was still relatively independent, there was still a third option - that if small yet strategically important nations weren't "with the US" they weren't by definition "with the terrorists". They could be "with France".

Straight from Gestapo's Book: Bush's Secret Army of Snoops and Snitches

The full scale of Bush's assault on our civil liberties may not be known until years after he's left office. At the moment, all we can do is get glimpses here or there of what's going on.

And the latest one to come to my attention is the dispatching of police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and utility workers as so-called "terrorism liaison officers," according to a report by Bruce Finley in the Denver Post.

McCain jokes about killing Iranians with cigarettes

US Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who once sang in jest about bombing Iran, has reacted to a report of rising US cigarette exports to the country by saying it may be "a way of killing 'em."

Comment: Psychopaths are known for their inability to grasp the correct use of language (take Bush for but one example) and their inability, at a neurological level, to experience empathy for others.

So, Mr McCain, if the shoe fits....

Condracula 'proud' of illegal Iraq invasion, over 1 million deaths

Psychopath Condoleezza Rice

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice tells Judy Woodruff that she remains "proud" of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, although it has been "tougher than any of us really dreamed.''

Comment: In true fashion of the psychopath who creates her own reality, Rice "simply doesn't see" the violent deaths of millions wrought by Bush and his coterie of miscreants occupying the White House. The pure depravity of those without conscience to create paramoralisms is clear to see in her statement that "it's not so popular to be a suicide bomber", while at the same time coercing jobless youth in a crashing economy into joining a military machine to kill those who don't conform to their world view - and who live to kill again and again. Immoral. Disgusting. Repugnant.

Standing Up To The Banks: Legal Defense Against ForeClosure

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." - Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Treasury Secretary Albert Gallatin (1802)

IAEA Chief: Iran can't make nukes unless it leaves the NPT - will resign if Iran is attacked

The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency said Iran could create a nuclear weapon in six months.

Comment: This opening sentence is entirely misleading. Read on...

IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei spoke on Al-Arabiya television on June 20, discussing Iran's nuclear program, and the potential for the Middle Eastern country to produce a nuclear weapon.

"If Iran wants to turn to the production of nuclear weapons, it must leave the NPT, expel the IAEA inspectors, and then it would need at least, considering the number of centrifuges and the quantity of uranium Iran has...It would need at least six months to one year," ElBaradei said.

Comment: In other words, Iran couldn't make nuclear weapons unless it gave a clear signal that it intends to, which is exactly the opposite message of the opening sentence. CBS News has intentionally twisted his words to make it appear Iran is trying to produce nuclear weapons in six months. The rhetoric being broadcast in the US and Israeli media is the same propaganda in the lead up to the Iraq war.

Mossad's Dagan, an omen of Iran war

Mossad director's tenure has been extended for another year so that he could prepare for an attack on Iran, Israeli military sources say.

Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert has decided to keep Meir Dagan behind his desk at Mossad until the end of 2009 so he could take the necessary measures for a possible unilateral military action against Iran, DEBKA website which is close to Israeli intelligence agency quoted the sources as saying.

Israel's intelligence and military brass generally serve for four years, with a traditional one-year extension. Dagan's tenure was last extended by a year in 2007. He is now due to step down in 2009.

The 61-year-old external intelligence chief has played the key role in the main Israeli operations over the past six years, including on a Syrian facility last September, the sources said.
