Feds collect record individual income taxes through March - Still run $599.7B deficit

Individual income taxes march 2018
The federal government collected a record $736,274,000,000 in individual income taxes through the first six months of fiscal 2018 (Oct. 1, 2017 through the end of March), according to the Monthly Treasury Statement released today.

The approximately $736,274,000,000 in individual income taxes that the Treasury collected in October through March of this fiscal year was $24,473,780,000 more than the $711,800,220,000 (in constant March 2018 dollars) that the Treasury collected in the first six months of fiscal 2017.

While the federal government was collecting record individual income taxes in the first half of this fiscal year, both payroll taxes and corporate income taxes declined compared to last year.

Russia may deploy forces to reduce targets in Syria - Ex-Pentagon official

Russia may deploy its own troops in Syria to deter and reduce the number of targeting options the US military would have to carry out any missile strike on the country, former Pentagon official Karen Kwiatkowski told Sputnik.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump sent a Twitter message stating that a US missile attack on Syria in retaliation for an alleged chemical attack in the city of Duma on April 7 could come very soon or significantly later.

However, US policymakers would have to seek to ensure that Russian personnel in Syria were not killed or injured in any such strike, Kwiatkowski pointed out.

Comment: Situation is still evolving and Western powers being pushed out of most of Syrian land, trying to attack it from the sea.

Trump, neocons and the push for a Faustian bargain with the most evil people on the planet

winds of war

When I wrote a few weeks ago that I thought the Neocons were making the full-court press for war I thought President Trump was a reluctant player in the game.

Part of me still believes that.

Part of me also believes that Trump, like everyone else, is a slave to his passions and is easily manipulated into terrible decisions. Case in point was last year's bombing of the Al Shairat airbase in Syria after a similar false flag chemical weapons attack at Khan Sheikoun.

Will he fall victim to them again this year? According to him, we'll know soon. Meanwhile a carrier group has been dispatched to the Eastern Mediterranean. Chinese missile frigates are there supporting Russian vessels and the destroyer U.S.S. Donald Cook is now just off the coast of the Russian base at Tartus.

The circumstances are exactly the same as last year. The pro-Assad coalition is winning, having made short work of the 'rebels' in Eastern Ghouta. And now we are to believe they are so stupid as to gas women and children after Trump's big light show last year?

New Russian sanctions were unveiled on Friday. A new alleged chlorine attack on Saturday. The Israelis lobbing missiles on Sunday. Russian markets melt down on Monday before Special Counsel Robert Mueller orders an FBI raid of Trump's lawyer, Steven Cohen.

Genocidal maniac Madeleine Albright: 'Trump is part of a worldwide revival of fascism'

Madeleine Albright
Witch
Former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is on a whirlwind media tour right now to make her completely unique, insightful, and original case that Trump is a fascist danger to democracy that must be stopped.

On Tuesday, Albright appeared on "CBS This Morning" to promote her new book "Fascism: A Warning," which argues that, alongside leaders in countries like Hungary, Turkey, and the Philippines, Trump is "turning to the same tactics used by fascists like Hitler and Mussolini nearly a century ago" and perpetrating an "assault on democratic values that has gathered strength in many countries abroad and that is dividing America at home."

After approvingly quoting from the first chapter of Albright's book, "This Morning" co-anchor Norah O'Donnell asked the former Secretary of State to explain why Trump is similar to mass murdering fascist dictators [transcript from NewsBusters, emphasis mine]:

Comment: In the mold of globalist George Soros, Madeleine Albright comes in a close second after Hillary Clinton for being one of the most destructive and despicable female politicians of this era. See:

Birds of a feather Trudeau together? Justin is more like his father than we feared

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as the saying goes. Former prime minister Pierre Trudeau and his son Justin represent a shining example of this age old idiom. From their admiration for communism to their exponential growth of Canada's national debt, these two ideologues contribute fantastically to the deterioration of the Canadian economy.

Best of the Web: Rove's law: How the empire's "new realities" are reaching the end of the road

karl rove quote reality
"That's not the way the world really works anymore. We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality-judiciously, as you will-we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors ... and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

Thus spake Karl Rove, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Government of George W. Bush.
I do wish people would study Rove's words more carefully. Judiciously study them. If they did, then whenever the next alleged atrocity occurs and the United States, together with its coalition of supine vassals, starts yelling and hollering 10 minutes later for action to be taken, on the basis of a test-tube full of washing powder, or pictures of injured women and children in a war zone, and the entire media of dutiful stenographers shrieks that "something must be done", then perhaps we might pause and wonder if we are being played. Instead of falling into an emotional spasm, maybe we would instead reject the deafening drumbeats of war - wars that have a habit of killing immeasurably more women and children than the alleged incidents on which they are based, by the way - and ask ourselves whether "Rove's Law" has come into play.

As an aside, the West's interventionist wars remind me of that wonderfully cynical exchange in the film, The Man With Two Brains:
Dr. Hfuhruhurr: "The only time we doctors should accept death is when it's caused by our own incompetence!"

Dr. Necessiter: "Nonsense! If the murder of twelve innocent people can help save one human life, it will have been worth it!"
Here's Dr. Necessiter selling us into war in Iraq: "Nonsense! If it costs us the deaths of 500,000 people to topple the evil dictator Saddam Hussein, it will have been worth it!"

SOTT Focus: Creeping Marxism: Pernicious Ideology Threatens Impartiality of Canadian Legal System

Justice is Blind
© unknownThis is Lady Justice. Her scales represents equality and her sword decisive and just punishment. She is blindfolded to guard against bias. Be it because of race, gender, religion, or politics, she is immune to all the things that differentiate people. Lady Justice does not care about who comes before her. She cares only about their relation to the law and the law only.
Justice is supposed to be blind, or at least that's the way it used to be. However, if it were up to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, he'd rip off that sacred blindfold faster than his own T-shirt at a gay pride parade.

New Legislation

At the end of March, the Liberal government tabled Bill C-75 in the house of Commons outlining major criminal justice reforms. While some aspects of the bill seemed positive, like the promises to speed up the trial process, other measures introduced were taken straight from the identity politics playbook, and threaten to undermine the objectivity and impartiality of the Canadian judicial system itself.

The most questionable item in the legislation was the complete removal of peremptory challenges in the juror selection process from the Criminal Code. This provision used to allow lawyers to remove a potential juror without giving reasons. The government's justification for this move was likely in response to the Colten Boushie trial, where many left-leaning activists felt the predominantly white jury were overtly racist in their decision to acquit Gerald Stanley.

Comment: Update - The following story from February was brought to our attention by Twitter user @ThinGrayLine01, and is a good illustration of how a different set of rules is now being applied to so-called 'marginalized' groups within the Canadian court system.

OPCW report 'confirms' nerve agent used in Salisbury poisoning, but doesn't mention Russia once

The OPCW has confirmed the UK's conclusions about the type of nerve agent used in the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal, but provided no new evidence to back up Britain's claim that Russia was to blame for the attack.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) published a summary of its analysis, which confirmed the British findings about the nerve agent used in last month's poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal, his daughter Yulia and a police officer who assisted them in Salisbury.

Despite the British government's claims of Russian 'culpability' for the poisoning, nowhere does the OPCW's report assign blame for the incident or even identify the source of the agent.

The part of the report that has been released publicly does not even specifically name Novichok as being the substance used, although it says it does name the substance in the parts of the findings which remain classified.

Macron joins in blaming Assad for Douma 'chemical attack' before OPCW visits site

Macronfinger
© Francois Lenoir / ReutersFrench President Emmanuel Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron is weighing military strikes on Syria as he claims President Assad is behind the alleged chemical attack in Douma. However, an OPCW fact-finding mission has not even arrived yet to check the site.

Western governments are in an apparent rush to pin all the blame on the Syrian government for the alleged use of chemical weapons in Douma. Although an Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) team has not even reached the site of the alleged incident to make their official collusions, the French government has already made its own.

President Macon claimed on Thursday that "the regime of [Syrian President] Bashar al-Assad" used "at least chlorine" in Douma last Saturday. However, the French leader did not support his statement with any evidence or sources as he spoke to TF1 TV.

Macron seemed to contradict himself in the course of his speech. While he announced the desire to get rid of Syrian "chemical attack capabilities," squarely pinning the blame on Damascus, any strikes would take place "once we have verified all the information." French President also attempted to make any military action seem less imminent, stating that Paris would decide on its course of action "at a time of our choosing, when we judge it to be the most useful and the most effective."
