This week on MindMatters we delve into the world of extremist politics and entitlement to examine what really lies behind the righteous curtain of political ideology on the left and the right, and how more moderate voices are co-opted and exploited by their more radical confrères. 'Politically correct liberals', 'politically correct authoritarians', 'white identitarians': whatever the ideological mask, the root problem is the psychopathic element who influence and distort every type of belief system. When we realize that, perhaps we'll be able to get somewhere.

If there were never any people at the upper end of the ‘dark triad’ spectrum, the stories people enjoy so much, when they read a novel or watch a movie, would not be possible.

Sobering thought, that we can have fun only when psychos are around. And maybe it's true! I find I appreciate their presence in a story, because they are present in real life, and so maybe it is like a 'confirmation.' But I don't think I'd mind their absence, there's nothing wrong with a story of normal people, making mistakes, and finding ways to help one another through anything.
It allows me to have compassion and caring no matter what their behaviour because I do not know what has caused them to be that way - only God knows and He will deliver due justice.
No doubt everyone has their story, everyone acts selfishly, it may also be wrong of me to presume a social illness of this nature without more information, but then I generally don't.
None of this is advice, though. I don't know how to treat them, and I'm positive you've thought things through for yourself. I can't agree with some points.
A scorpion, which cannot swim, asks a frog to carry it across a river on the frog's back. The frog hesitates, afraid of being stung by the scorpion, but the scorpion argues that if it did that, they would both drown. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I couldn't help it. It's in my nature."[1][2]R.C.
Like the scorpion story from RC, they will always behave according to their condition (I would not call it nature; that implies it is a natural occurrence. There is a cause).
Joyly What you've said is all accurate to me, so I think I must just wonder what is meant by having compassion for them. It's good to be reminded of the causes, as they could lead to the cure - apparently stimulating certain areas of the brain is one cure, showing them appropriate behavior and reactions from a young age might be another. It may be in their nature, but it is not to suggest there is only one 'fate' for them (although many come to this conclusion). It is probably in all our natures - working backwards from the cures just mentioned above would indicate that - and we don't have this fate.
I could suggest that what is missing in this discussion is choice. Maybe choice was taken from them, and so it was 'done to them' in this sense, and so this could lead to having compassion for them? Maybe they made the choice, because it fits their nature at another level, if there is another level for them?
When little children learn to walk they fall over, have a good cry, and then get up and have another go. The reason they can have another go is because they released their pain. This is the step we need to reclaim. My best advice: watch a good movie and have a good cry. And if it works do it again. And if it doesn’t do it again until it does.
That cannot waive their individual responsibility - it's joined at the hip with free will.

What personality traits predict psychopathy and sex drive?
New research examines the link the "Dark Tetrad" and other characteristics. It's a fine line between sanity and insanity, or so they say. But what about personality? How big is the difference...According to the dark triad definitions in this link, I suggest that we each occupy a variable position along the spirit level of the dark triad spectrum. Irrefutable evidence of this is provided by our comments.
Narcism is the easiest to detect.
Even here on SOTT I have read people wishing harm to a labelled grouping of their choice.
One of the ten commandments says: “Thou shalt not kill”. This commandment is holistic for a reason, IMHO, not specific to humans. Yet look how much killing we have all colluded with.
I have been personally responsible for the death of many of God’s creations because I think I am more entitled to a life.
When I drive my car, I give no heed to the insects that are smashed against the windscreen in the process. Nor the birds that are caught in the updraft or drag.
Apart from offering a prayer, I give little to no heed to the thousands of chickens, cows, lambs, pigs and fish who feed me nor to the plants whose life I stole, often not even to eat.
In meditation recently though, I perceive God (Our Creator) as withdrawing free will. Free will was never promised to us anyway, only to our forebears.
I am trying to extrapolate what that means for all of us.
If we use our will unlovingly (killing, pollution, poisons, sanctions) the Laws will always exact compensation or karma. This is designed to teach us what is right and wrong in order to encourage us towards love.
My belief in the perfection of God’s system, that God is Good, that God made me to learn and grow, and that every human soul is capable of redemption no matter what they have done (that in itself blows my mind): all these are part of my faith in God. As such I cannot see Him/Her ever withdrawing free will.
If you look to nature as a guide you will see that many creatures send their offspring away to fend for themselves. Other species keep their family together (eg elephants).
The other day you wrote something, I paraphrase here, about kids needing to grow up, grow some balls and make their own way.
I did not comment. We invite our young here and remain duty bound beyond the arbitrary first 18 years of their life to support them, including financially. They are our doing; our responsibility. We bring them here knowing full well the world we are creating for them; all the wonders, trials and tribulations; knowing that they might struggle; knowing for certain that they will face death.
In conclusion, God has many lessons to teach. If free will has not been sufficiently effective to free humanity from slavery, perhaps God is prepared to try another way?
Any duty bound I feel to them as adults is to fully allow their free will and support them in their pursuits, as I would for any other person. I do not believe my family is more important than any other people. This I know intellectually, but still working through my emotions on that one.
I believe God already has a perfect system to show us how to free ourselves from slavery. It is us who need to change and try doing things another way, not God.
Love sharing with you. Thank you. And By the way I thought you did a great ignoring insults.
Our experiences of our reality demonstrate an infinite spectrum of potential. Our Universal spectrum encompass extremes of diversity.
Personally, I would never dare or want to trap God into a tightly controlled definition of humanly acceptable behaviour within this Totality of possibilities.
The abundance in nature astounds me and reminds me that it is part of God’s character.
Tonight I realised (watching an old TV show) that God offering repentance to redeem my soul is like giving me a second chance, no matter what I have done, and that opportunity exists continually until I am ready. It does not come with a due date.
Most animals and birds chase away or abandon their young for territorial and good reasons. They have to learn to fend for themselves.
My comment went beyond that though, specifically to Joyly, who, I supposed, might see the connection to an earlier chat.
IMO, There is a correlation between the independent adult who has left home and the personality who ‘stands’ before God. (I believe in intelligent design by a Creator with purpose.)
Joyly stated that God will always continue to look after her. I asked why she thought that (even though I agreed).
My view is that we are each acquiring perspective sufficient to create our own Matrix. Similarly parents try to teach life lessons sufficient to prepare the child for adulthood. That does not mean the lessons or the responsibility end at 18.
Meanwhile, the matrix I am attempting to construct in my mind is more selective and eclectic, of necessity, recognising (from my life experiences) that I cannot promise eternal love to all.
I give little to no heed to the thousands of chickens, cows, lambs, pigs and fish who feed me nor to the plants whose life I stole, often not even to eat.Neither did they.
And when the Earth eats you, as it will all the chickens, cows, lambs, pigs, fish and plants, neither will it.
In meditation recently though, I perceive God (Our Creator) as withdrawing free will. Free will was never promised to us anyway, only to our forebears.Don't do us any favours, willya?
I am trying to extrapolate what that means for all of us.
As usual, Anna1 continues to use this place as a dumping ground for her own Alzheimer's.
Her high levels of pomposity are probably about the only things stopping her brains floating off into the nothing-o-sphere.
Yeah, I know it's not nice to say mean things about nasty old ladies who are losing their marbles.
Important info about ‘the test’ which is really identifying the level of chromosome 8 present, which is part of our DNA responsible for intelligence and resilience to cancer.
Then the purpose of ‘the vaccine’ could be to reduce chromosome 8 thus dumbing us down and making us more susceptible to cancer.
‘The testing’ results in a database of targets with high chromosome 8. Aha you tested positive, you need the vaccine.
Now it all becomes clearer. The frantic testing, tracking etc. Thanks P as always 🙏

If, as Elan Martin said, these "liberal" PC types understood the pathology or the dynamics at work" they would be able to see how they are being used.
My guess is that most are young and know nothing of the Russian or Chinese revolutions and the millions that were massacred. It's only the elderly Historically literate or those who have lived under communism who are capable of seeing the tell tale signs of the totalitarian path down which America and most other countries are being led.
When the extremes have helped to bring about the planned agenda, the civil war, then those naive compassionate youngsters, will, as Harrison said, be disgarded
Read "The Prince" and "Discourses on Livy".* The Prince is simply him giving free advice to a new prince regarding what he'd learned, and it discusses the ways to control societies - he's NOT saying that deception is 'best' - indeed, he repeatedly states exactly the opposite. (In Discourses, he goes into great detail about how republics are generally the best government structure, but it also would depend upon the maturity of the society.) His name deserves better.
