Hundreds of pleather-clad S&M enthusiasts descended on Germany's Lake Constance for a boat party with a difference on Saturday.

The 'Torture Ship' is the world's largest BDSM [Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadism and Masochism] and fetish party to take place on a moving barge.

It set sail from the Friedrichshafen harbor as large crowds gathered to take in the spectacle of passengers decked out in full bondage, gimp masks, horse heads, and fishnet vests, with plenty of exposed skin.

Running for more than two decades, the Torture Ship is a firm favorite with S&M lovers from around the world. This year, organizers expected a slightly smaller turnout of about 500 passengers, due to the inconvenient clash with the Germany-Sweden World Cup match.

In 2015, the party was forced to get rid of its darkroom and bedrooms to comply with tightening government regulations, and the event is now officially dubbed a dance party.

This post is a trick I've come up with so that folks can have relatively 'private' conversations. All you have to do is hit the 'reply' button (bottom right corner with left turning arrow.) Then texts here written won't ever scroll down the right column for wake up SOTT to come here.

My points:

1) I don't know what you meant by me supposedly getting 'near' a Nazi judge. I can get touchy about BS like that. Clarification?

2) Also, if I was a true 'Grammar Nazi', I'd point such out where all and sundry could see and I'd do so in a rude manner, but I ain't rude,nor a Nazi. Here:

The point is, organisations like "Rote Hilfe" are just covers to funnel tax money into extremists, to keep the population in constant ~~strive.~~ strife. Not to forget, most right-wing parties in Germany are infiltrated by the BND as well. The leadership of those parties consists mainly of snitches (V-Männer), over-the-hill political ex-functionaries without prospects.

I meant, the US in general, not you. Sorry if that was ambiguous.

Any Supreme Court or Constitutional Court will be biased, the more the political system is controlled. Until it becomes a total farce, like in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union. It is fact that the party membership of the majority of USSC judges used to match that of the current president. Now, guess what happens if a SHTF event occurs, and a putsch happens.

Most Euopean countries teach British English at school (at least they did at my time). However, in the wilderness (media, TV, etc.), you encounter almost exclusively the American variant. So, except for hardcore Brits, you will hardly find a consistent English grammar amongst Europeans.

Forward apologies to those Brits - I know they do not see themselves as "Europeans".

The more common phrasing is "if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound?" , to which my answer the very first time I heard it was, "OF COURSE." (I'd guess I was 12?) And my answer there and then would be the same as now:

I was mostly just trying to help you with the phrasing for it's my understanding that you're a ESL (English as a Second Language) person and such expressions and their vernacular must be far harder to remember..

Our analyses of the too-common expression are consistent.

Rowan Cocoan Not much relevant being said in this short video, until the "police" arrives.

As I earlier suspected/suggested, they behaved like the SS stormtroopers. Supposedly, they are not allowed by law to force into any private home if there is no apparent danger to life. They are not even allowed in if the owner expicitly invites them.

But as said occasionally - Germany is not a sovereign country. They have no constitution, the occupation laws are still in effect, so no German (common Germans, mind you) can actually own anything legally. Thus, the "police" (not officials, but actually private companies named "police") can break into any home in Gestapo manner, and sack any one and anything.

They kept the pretense of "Law" and "Democracy" for a few decades, to get them to cooperate, and work for the Great Project (the EU - who is the pay master ???).

But that facade is about to crumble. Just wonder when those stupid Germans will wake up ...

This might well be.

We - or at least I - had "British English" lessons at school to a limited extend. Enough to read signs and simple texts, but hardly enough for a conversation, and totally insufficient for "non-stop speaking" like TV or radio. I later went to the UK for one university term, and after some years almost regularly to the UK for a company.

But for the rest, there are english texts (documentation and manual in my business are mostly in English), and films of course.

I had a Belgian workmate who had a decently strong American accent. As he told us, mostly from binge-watching American movies.

PS: and of course, YT recently - which requires occasional consultations of the Urban Dictionary ...

It certainly is WAY WAY more correct than most of my buddies (who are NOT dumb- dumb people irritate me) if they typed up stuff like this. I likewise hope and think that you do not mind that I might quite often ask you about German.

I only pointed that out to say: 'that usage of 'seen' - which is VERY common is, as I understand it, grammatically incorrect - and yet my buddies and most folks use it so often I don't even hear it any more. Thus, such a usage has ALMOST made it proper because propriety in grammar follows the most common usage.

I WISH so much that I could speak another language but I cannot. When I have pointed out such quasi absurd technicalities to my friends who are English as a second language folks, they have uniformly ALWAYS said 'Please correct me every time I make such goofs - and I probably do so maybe half of the times that I could.

It was in the spirit of their requests to me that I pointed that out - and especially that I went to find this here so that the whole SOTT world would hopefully be less likely to read this.

English is not the only victim it seems. There is a similar discussion in Germany, with opponents arguing against the adoption of every common language studidity into the "Duden", the canon of German language. And anglicisms, of course.

I likewise hope and think that you do not mind that I might quite often ask you about German.

BTW, if you studied the language a bit, you would be surprised how similar they are - or had been. Just a few hundred years of separation.

As re English and German, Twain wrote some funny stuff about how 'wrong' German was - making fun of himself as a supposedly typical American Tourist. I forget the name but it's one of his books of travel stories usually composed while traveling.
