Meteor fireball in the sky of Rome

FIREBALL
In the afternoon today, around 5:45 pm, a huge meteorite was spotted on the sky of Rome and the inland areas of Lazio, in particular from Guidonia, Tivoli and Rieti: spectacular images of the videos arriving from the territory of Italy central, especially between Lazio and Abruzzo. " A unique and wonderful show ", some witnesses said.

A fireball is commonly understood as a body coming from space and which, falling into the atmosphere, looks like a fireball followed by a luminous trail. Normally the bolide is a meteorite, that is a fragment of rock generally originating from a comet or an asteroid which, finding itself passing near the Earth, is attracted by the gravitational field of our planet, thus falling towards the ground.

Doorbell cam catches meteor fireball over Lakeland, Tennessee

FIREBALL
A fireball shot across the sky Tuesday night in the northwest part of Tennessee.

Clint Starnes, a resident in Lakeland, says his doorbell cam caught the fireball zoom across the night sky. If you look closely at the video above you can see it fly by.

The American Meteor Society asks anyone who believes they may have seen a fireball to remember as many details as possible and report it.

Last night's fireball: it was in NW Tennessee at 6:28p CST. It started out 56 miles above Paris, TN and burned up about 40 miles above Dyersburg - speed was 60,400 mph. The speed/location of the radiant are an excellent match to what we expect from the Taurid meteor shower.

A fireball which some have described as the biggest and brightest they had ever seen boomed over northeastern USA on Halloween.

The spooky season kicked off with a bang on Halloween when residents across nine states witnessed a huge fireball. The meteor was so big and bright that it could be seen in the north of Michigan, all the way down to Georgia, more than 900 kilometres away.

Witnesses described the booming fireball as having a plethora of colours, mainly blue, white and green, coming from the main body as it hit Earth's atmosphere.

Almost 200 people flocked to the International Meteor Organisation (IMO) to report their sightings.

Asteroid's fireball over Perth, Western Australia sounded like a 'meth lab blew up'

The fireball was captured by the Desert Fireball Network's Katanning camera system.

Experts from Curtin University's Desert Fireball Network (DFN) believe last night's fireball and sonic boom was caused by small piece of asteroid, less than one metre wide, hitting the atmosphere and breaking up over the Earth.

Dr Hadrien Devillepoix said the fireball — reported at 8:09pm local time, east of the Perth metropolitan area — would have been visible up to 500 kilometres from Perth in Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, and Albany.

The exact location cannot be determined because remnant cloud hindered DFN's cameras from being able to triangulate the asteroid.

"Not many people actually saw the fireball directly," Dr Devillepoix said.

"We got it on one camera — all the way down in Katanning in the Wheatbelt."

'Outstanding' meteor fireball explodes over northern USA

FIREBALL
A fireball has exploded over the USA, leading some to describe the experience as "outstanding".

On October 28, residents of Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois were treated to a "spectacular" fireball as the Sun was rising. So powerful was the fireball that people were able to see it, despite daylight beginning to take place.

Tens of people reported the phenomenon to the International Meteor Organisation (IMO), describing their experience of the small space rock hitting Earth's atmosphere.

Many described the trail of the fireball taking on a blue colour, likely because of certain gasses packed into the atmosphere.

Jean said: "Saw it just after sunrise as the sky was brightening up. It was very bright and spectacular."
