Almost 60 percent of the people in Germany say the US strike on a Syrian airbase earlier in the week was the wrong thing to do, according to a poll commissioned by Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

The poll, ordered by the media outlet and conducted by Emnid-TNS company, asked respondents about Washington's decision to launch Tomahawk missiles at the Syrian airfield.

The survey revealed that 26 percent approved, and 59 percent disapproved of the attack on the military site.

The majority of the respondents, 80 percent, also think that no more strikes should be made on Syrian territory. Only nine percent would welcome further US attacks on the country.

The US said the bombardment was in response to a suspected chemical gas attack in Idlib, which Washington claims Syrian President Bashar Assad and his government were responsible for.

A total of 59 Tomahawk missiles launched from American warships hit Shayrat airfield, where it is alleged that Syrian planes with chemical weapons took off.

More than 20 people have reportedly been injured and 16 hospitalized after a train going from Moscow to Brest collided with a commuter train. It happened after a man reportedly crossed the tracks, prompting the use of the emergency brakes.

Four carriages were derailed, with one turning upside down and visibly wrecked, as shown on footage filmed by eyewitnesses.

"At that moment 445 passengers and a train crew were on board a long-distance train, and the driver, his assistant and two ticket inspectors were on the inter-urban train," said the Investigative Committee's spokesperson, Tatiana Morozova, as cited by RIA Novosti. She added that among those who were hospitalized are the crew of the long-distance train and both ticket inspectors.

Dallas: Hackers blamed for triggering emergency sirens

siren
Dallas officials blame computer hacking for setting off emergency sirens throughout the city early Saturday.

Rocky Vaz, director of Dallas' Office of Emergency Management, said that all 156 of the city's sirens were activated more than a dozen times.

Officials don't know who was responsible for the hacking, but Vaz said "with a good deal of confidence that this was someone outside our system" and in the Dallas area.

The city has figured out how the emergency system was compromised and is working to prevent it from happening again, he said. It's a "very concerning" issue that Dallas has never faced.

Although Vaz said that identifying who sounded the sirens will be like "finding a needle in a haystack," Mayor Mike Rawlings said authorities will "find and prosecute whomever is responsible."

Cowardly cop protects society by smashing tiny woman's face in the ground

cop smashing tiny women
Bystanders at Barstool Sports Bar near Colorado State University were treated to a front-row seat at what could easily be described as a World Wrestling Federation (WWF) takedown of a fragile woman by what could be characterized as a bully cop. But, of course, police see the altercation differently. You decide.

When the video (taken by a bar-goer) begins, a woman can be seen arguing with a Ft. Collins police officer. But when one looks closely, the officer can be seen positioning his hands on the woman in such a way as to be able to effect a near perfect body slam. And flawless it was. The seemingly fragile woman who was dressed in a party dress and high heels was, as some have said, brutally smashed on the ground.

Those who were recording the video seemed to love the wild ride the woman took at the hands of police. But other, more level-headed ones, possibly ones not so inebriated by their beer, immediately cried foul. In the comments section of the Instagram video, viewers determined the aggressive actions on the part of the officer were simply unnecessary and potentially criminal.

Police sergeant arrested on child porn charges

Richard Woodhead

In what seems to be an increasing number of law enforcement officers finding themselves on the other side of the law, another veteran police officer has been arrested on pedophilia-related crimes. Attleboro officer Richard Woodhead, 54, was arrested for attempting to engage in sex with a minor, possessing child pornography and attempting to receive child pornography.

Outwardly, Woodhead appeared to have it all together. He had a nice job as a peace officer, a position he'd held for 32 years. He was married and had children of his own, but the officer's apparent obsession with child porn eventually led to his arrest. A search warrant was obtained for his home and executed.

During their search, investigators found, in a hidden compartment in his bedroom, a stash of child pornography, as well as a substance known as "jungle juice," something which can be used as an inhalant.

According to the Global Information Network About Drugs, Jungle Juice is considered a "popper," often used in the gay community as an aphrodisiac. Its chemical name is Amyl Nitrite and is a vasodilator. Its dizzying effects have also been put to use as a date rape drug.

A middle-aged man steered his car into the town hall in Verden, northern Germany on Sunday. A fire broke out and severely damaged the building. The cause of the incident is under investigation, but authorities have ruled out a terrorist attack.

It's believed that the incident, which involved a 47-year-old male, was directed against the government in Lower Saxony, DPA reported.

"A terrorist attack has been ruled out," police said. It took firefighters about an hour and a half to put out the blaze.

"The flames spread to adjacent rooms on the ground floor [of the town hall]," police reported.

No one was injured in the incident, which took place early on Sunday. The man was arrested at the scene.

Russia has seen multiple tributes to the victims of the recent terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg Metro, with over 100,000 people all over the country paying their respects to those killed.

More than 50,000 people took to streets in central Russia on Saturday, April 8, including the cities of Kaluga, Lipetsk, Bryansk, Vladimir, and Smolensk. People gathered at central squares, carrying flowers, candles, and banners showing support for St. Petersburg.

"I couldn't have missed [the event]; I'm still thinking about that terror attack. My son is a student, he is in St Petersburg. I don't want to be afraid for my child's life!" Irina Osmyakova, from the city of Lipetsk, said.

"Terrorism can bring any family to grief, I don't want that. I came here to support my country," another woman said.

"We are getting together for a little bit, maybe, young people would see this and realize that terrorism is a horrible thing," her friend said.

Violent, angry mob shuts down pro-police speaker at California liberal arts college

A throng of angry protesters converged at Claremont McKenna College on Thursday and effectively shut down a pro-police speech as they surrounded the building, forcing the speaker to give the talk via livestream to a near-empty room as they yelled "F*ck the police" and "Black Lives Matter" and banged on windows.

Heather Mac Donald, a Manhattan Institute scholar and author of the 2016 book "The War on Cops," even gave her talk earlier than originally planned at the preppy and private Southern California campus because of the rowdy crowd estimated at more than 250 protesters, she told The College Fix via email Thursday.

Thirty minutes into the speech, police officers told her to cut it short, and she was given a four-officer escort through a side door and safely through some surprised protesters who had flanked that exit, Mac Donald said.

The chaos came just one day after Mac Donald was raucously shouted down at a similar Blue Lives Matter speech at UCLA, but that one took place in full and with a Q&A in front of a live audience.

US Customs and Border Protection drops Twitter lawsuit over 'rogue' alt-government account

US Customs and Border Protection is no longer suing Twitter over the identity of who's behind an "alt-government" account critical of the Trump administration's immigration policies. But at least one US senator is concerned this may not be the end.

Less than 24 hours after Twitter counter-sued CBP and the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday for demanding the social media company "unmask" the account @ALT_uscis, the US government dropped its lawsuit, CNN Money reported. In turn, Twitter dropped its countersuit.

The account appears to be handled by a "rogue" agent of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, and is among many other similar alt-government accounts that sprang up following a crackdown on official social media accounts by the Trump administration soon after January 20.

Cops force catheterize 3yo boy, man for drug urinalysis

Catheterize 3yo Boy
In all the years the Free Thought Project has been reporting on police misconduct and government corruption, we've seen some vile, horrific, and nightmarish acts committed by those sworn to protect. However, a recent case getting exposed by the ACLU of South Dakota may be one of the most insanely cruel and horrifying acts committed by police in the name of the drug war โ€” and they're doing it to children too.

Forced catheterization.

To find out if a person has traces of an arbitrary substance deemed illegal by the state, cops are torturing adults and children alike.

Dirk Sparks recalls that horrid night that it happened to him. "It was degrading," Sparks said. "I was angry. I felt like my civil rights were being violated."
