Twenty-eight percent of US citizens plan on moving to another country if Donald Trump is elected president in November, a new poll reveals. However, as data on previous mass exodus threats show, it's unlikely many of them will follow through.
Every fourth person from almost 2,000 registered voters questioned in the Morning Consult/Vox poll conducted March 10-13, said they would "likely" consider leaving the US for good for a "country, such as Canada" if the flamboyant Republican candidate were to be sworn into office at the White House. Fifteen percent of those who are contemplating the radical way out, fearing imminent changes for the worse under a Trump presidency, report that they are "very likely" to relocate to another country.
Following Super Tuesday's tremendous success in early March, when Trump beat Texas Senator Ted Cruz by claiming seven states compared to three from his next-closest challenger, searches on Google for 'how can I move to Canada' had spiked 350 percent, according to Simon Rogers, the company's data editor.
Earlier, one local enthusiast half-jokingly launched a website called CBIfTrumpWins.com to lure in American citizens to "just hop on a bus to start new life in Cape Breton, where Muslim people can roam freely, and the only 'walls' are holding up the roofs of our extremely affordable houses," praising the benefits of living in Canada compared to that in a Trump-led America.
Although the island's tourism office said it wasn't behind the campaign, it complimented the project, saying the creator had "done a fine job as positioning Cape Breton island as a place people will want to visit and live," as
cited by Politico.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also didn't fail to jump on the opportunity to welcome Americans to the Canadian island of Cape Breton. "Cape Breton is lovely, all times of the year," said Trudeau in an interview to HuffPost Canada.
With Trump moving closer to winning the Republican Party nomination, securing another series of wins in Illinois, Missouri and North Carolina, and with his impressive performance in Florida knocking Senator Marco Rubio out of the race, the panic among the opponents of a widely controversial billionaire candidate is likely to grow.
However, the big question is whether all those who declare their readiness to emigrate will indeed attempt to follow through with the notion. As for Trump's most likely presidential election rival, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, she intends to stay within the US whatever happens.
"I would never leave our country, but I would certainly be spending a lot of time yelling at the TV set," she
told MSNBC.
In fact, the idea to move north of the border if an unfavorable candidate wins has more than a decade-long history. As Associate Professor Adam Alter from New York University's Stern School of Business notes in a
Washington Post column, when George W. Bush took the lead in the presidential race in 2004, Canada's immigration applications tripled. However, the surge in applications was not followed by a substantial increase in actual migration. The average number of Americans moving to Canada is estimated at about 9,000 per year.

"He is a very colourful and talented man, no doubt about that. He is the absolute leader of the presidential race, as we see it today. He says that he wants to move to another level of relations, to a deeper level of relations with Russia. How can we not welcome that? Of course we welcome it."
I wouldn't read more into it than that.
People say the same thing about The Super Bowl and the Daytona 500......but they dont leave the country when their team loses or favorite driver doesnt win........they call in sick to work the next day.......Whats the Remedy??? Stop watching "The View"......"The Five"........"The Talk".........ect..............BTW.........Have fun in New Zealand Rosie and Whoppi....................you can stay at Chers house.
So the frogs will stay in the pot as the water turns into a rolling boil.
hit you in the ass on the way out.
i'm still waiting on the hope and change bullshit from the last election.
nuff said, we see where her politics align.
You're not self centered by any means are you.
You gotta admit if there's one silver lining to this possibility, a little wiggle room in the job market would be it....
Reason is she will be the last president as she will usher in WWIII and the lucky will perish in thermonuclear war but she is sure to wait a while to make us suffer when she ushers in her trade deals, bails out banks, sucks the .... of corporate ceos and throws Americans under the bus just to fill her pockets with gold and for the globalist agenda. You can bet your ass she will activate the FEMA camps for any dissenter... I am sorry but with Trump there at least would probably be a world left to actually vote in another election. Honestly I think all this equating Trump as a fascist is BS - fascism is already alive and well with the left and right and Trump is certainly more left than Killary... And i see nothing wrong with protecting our borders in fact the globalist agenda with no borders and porous borders IS fascism as a fascists ideal world is one where the regime rules them all... it is time we protected our borders. and since when is it a good idea to bring refugees from a nation you are barrel bombing and murdering the families of... Last I checked or if it were me id feel pretty raw and revenge would be my middle name. I don't think ANYONE really seems to get it...
When my ancestors came to this country they fought to become americans and it wasn't easy... But they proved they were worthy and really wanted to be Americans... they didn't start out as illegal immigrants - that would've made their first action a criminal one and they would have expected to never get a second chance to try again. but for some insane reason the immigrant and legality upside down view is furthering the decay of America. Yes immigrants are great but we need the right people-those that can integrate and learn the language like my ancestors did... As i see it there is no standard anymore and that is decay.
When it comes to Muslims those that come here looking for a better life and desire to integrate with all Americans are wonderful. They came here not under duress and need-they come here because they desire to be here and are some of the kindest people. But they will tell you they left because of the society - the society they left for a more humane and just society. Why is it people believe that all muslims are caring and loving? Sharia law is anything but and most of these immigrants want to install Sharia law in the nations they are settling-that is not what anyone entering any nation should be doing-they need to integrate and accept the laws of the lands they are settling.
It seems that people have become so hypersensitive to the most extreme which appears to be causing society to censor itself for fear of reprisal. Any minor offense no mater how small can cost you your career-no mistakes are allowed and people on both aisles misconstrue and hype their interpretation. It is truly out of control. I mean just look at college campuses these days where you cannot offend and free speech is limited to cordoned off 8'x8' sq ft in a non traffic area.
I have no doubt that Trump wants what is best for America-I don't think he is the best. In fact i find him abrasive and often a bit too honest when he says what many are thinking. He has given them a voice for a very valid concern. Essentially it is blowback for the last couple of decades where the world and wars, corporations and banks have been pandered to, jobs shipped away, their kids futures stolen and the ones taking those jobs or running these int'l banks are often not Americans or appear to be traitors. Trump addresses this. He may be a loud mouth but he is the only one that states a foreign policy that doesn't equal war! the only one! From Putin to Palestine. I can bet you he would invest in our infrastructure which no one has done in god only knows how long. It would create jobs - we need our own reconstruction which would boot the economy enormously and Trump is probably the only one that would address that. Being a loudmouth off the cuff potty mouth doesn't make one fascist - it just makes them - a loudmouth. But he is practicing free speech - obamas regime has done their best to end free speech and here we are trying to censor Trump. Really? What people should be concerned about is the wolf in sheep's clothing - Killary. Moving should she win might be a good thing as you may have a few months of nonHell before the certain end as that psychopath is a true monster. Leaving as quick as one can would be a great idea...
This political correctness where people see racism (only when it is a white person), accusations of fascism based on what the Corporate Mouthpiece of the Government (the mainstream lying media) present when we know almost everything out of their mouths is lies, editing soundbites can convince anyone of anything but that should be convincing when coming from a known liar. We are destroying ourselves and dividing ourselves by believing these false memes and politcal correctness is actually not correct.
i could go on and on - i probably won't get anyone seeing my side of it. I am not a right winger (i feel the Bern) and pray that our nation rebuild some rational discussion and make change - but it just seems we are our own worst enemy.
