Nothing captures the imagination quite like the supernatural.

From ghosts and ghouls to unidentified flying objects, Hull and East Yorkshire is no stranger to the paranormal.

Historian Mike Covell has been spending the past few months in painstaking research into a few of the forgotton UFO sightings from around the area.

Since May 2008, the National Archives has witnessed a slow and steady release of UFO files to the public. The files feature thousands, if not millions of files, and every time they release them, they give Ufologists, or people that study UFO's, a short window in which they can be downloaded for free.

A small community in northern Michigan believes it has been touched by an angel after a motion-sensor camera captured a mysterious object apparently looming over a parked vehicle. People online, however, remain unconvinced.

According to the local church in East Jordan and the man whose camera detected the presence, the image clearly shows a head and wings.

Police and passersby were left perplexed and concerned after a burned-out car was found dangling precariously from a Toronto bridge as traffic rumbled overhead.

Soon after the blue sedan was spotted during rush-hour traffic on Wednesday, police, firefighters and paramedics showed up to assess the mysterious car. Strung up by a cable, it floated over a grassy area and posed no danger to public safety, officials said.

City police at first said it was a prop for a movie shoot. But after speaking with city officials, they retracted this explanation.

No movie shoot had been authorised, they said, and police were now investigating how exactly the car ended up suspended in mid-air.

Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman was on cable television Friday night peddling conspiracy theories about extraterrestrial life forms, and nobody seems to have noticed.

In fairness, I didn't really believe it until I saw it either. But there he was, John Podesta, speaking gravely over a foreboding soundtrack, lending his very earnest insights to "Ancient Aliens" on The History Channel. (Don't tell Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa).

Podesta has long been in avid pursuit of the truth about UFOs, memorably reassuring the public during Clinton's 2016 campaign he'd "convinced her that we need an effort to kind of go look at that and declassify as much as we can, so that people have their legitimate questions answered."

And so it came to be, this former White House chief of staff and counselor to the president sat before "Ancient Aliens" cameras and unloaded enigmatic observations like, "The government seems to be completely unaccountable to the American public," and "I've had a number of members of Congress, members of the U.S. Senate say to me, 'Keep going at this. I'm really interested in it, but I can't say anything about it.'"

Behold this surreal exchange, wherein Podesta very seriously reflects on the Clinton campaign's pro-alien declassification platform.


Comment: Podesta is dreaming. It's unlikely Clinton would've been able to get anything very interesting declassified. Previous presidents have tried, and failed. And besides, TTS is already filling the gap with the only sort of information that might be deemed safe for public consumption.

Video captures strange black craft floating across Texas sky over Houston

A video captured Saturday shows a large black figure floating across the Texas sky over Houston.

The footage was shared on the YouTube Channel TexasUFOs Monday.

​"April 28, 2018, sighting of a large, tall black structure flying across the sky over central Houston has been submitted to Mutual UFO Network [MUFON]. What could this UFO be? Plane or helicopter carrying something, hot air balloon... or a top-secret military craft or even aliens????" the YouTube description states. MUFON is a US nonprofit organization that investigates alleged UFO sightings.

Amateur astronomer films 3 mystery objects dancing past moon

A space enthusiast who was recently filming the moon was left baffled when three mystery objects floated past it. He posted the video on YouTube, asking viewers a simple question - "WTF?"

The video begins with the camera focused on the moon and its signature craters. However, at the 1:18 mark, three strange objects can be seen dancing past the moon.


It happens quickly, and they rapidly disappear out of frame. But their appearance was enough to leave the man intrigued and confused. So confused that he titled his video 'WTF did I capture passing the moon?'

He believes it was most likely helium balloons that someone released, but admits the theory cannot be confirmed. Others commented that they agreed with the balloon logic, while some suggested they could have been meteorites. One person nonchalantly responded with "Oh you know, just aliens probably."

The video was filmed during the half moon on April 22, and was posted by YouTube user Don't Stop Motion.

Diana Walsh Pasulka is a Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion. Her research focuses on religion and technology, including supernatural belief and its connections to digital technologies and environments. She has consulted for movies and television, including The Conjuring (2013), and Conjuring II (2016), among others.

Professor Pasulka's forthcoming book (some of which I've had the privilege of reading), American Cosmic: UFOs, Religion, Technology, is due for publication through Oxford University Press early next year, and it promises to be one of the most fascinating and important ever written on the UFO topic (though its scope is considerably broader than flying saucers). Diana recently took some time out of her busy teaching schedule to answer a few of my questions about what she's discovered on her cosmic journey...

This past weekend I spoke at the first Southeast Texas Bigfoot Conference. Such is the interest in Bigfoot in the Lone Star State, more than 700 people rolled into town (Huntsville, TX) to listen to the latest news on the United States' most famous monster. A great time was had, and there was a lot of debate, questions and new developments. Of the many questions that came my way, one surfaced a couple of times: is it possible that the Bigfoot are, as one attendee worded it, "a person?" Or, as another termed it, are the Bigfoot "something that's part of us?" The theory that the Bigfoot are a form of primitive human is without doubt controversial. And, it's a fact that the vast majority of witnesses describe something that looks far more like an ape than it does like us. But, there are a few exceptions to the rule. I'll share one case with you which most assuredly makes such a point.

The origins of Anniston, Alabama date back to the height of the American Civil War. It's a city, in Calhoun County, of around 23,000 and which is dominated by the huge, picturesque, Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1938, however, it was something else that was dominating the people of Anniston: a strange and distinctly out of place ape-like thing. It was in April 1938 that sightings began, in the Choccolocco Valley, of what was quickly referred to by the local press as "a hairy wild man."

Lost worlds: Mysterious accounts of living 'dinosaurs' in South America

Among the various mysterious creatures sighted and reported throughout the world there is one very distinctive category, and this is that of living dinosaurs, prowling the forests and jungles of our world as if they were never gone at all. Such fantastic reports come from a variety of places, in particular Africa with its saurian Mokele Mbembe and others, but another lesser-known location for accounts of supposed surviving dinosaurs is the wilds of South America. Here among the jungles and even deserts of South America's remote wildernesses have come truly bizarre accounts that seem to suggest that dinosaurs are perhaps alive and well, still stomping across the landscape as they always have.

Some rather cryptic reports came from the famed explorer Percy Fawcett, who is most well-known for his ambitious and ill-fated expedition in 1925 to find a lost city he was convinced existed in the forgotten depths of the Amazon jungle, a journey during which he would vanish off the face of the earth to become one of the most baffling disappearances in history. I have written of Fawcett and his various expeditions in much more depth here at Mysterious Universe before, but one of the more interesting aspects of his adventures are all of the strange and mysterious creatures he allegedly encountered along the way. Among the cyanide-shooting millipedes, acid-spewing ants, double-nosed dogs, cat-dog hybrids, and giant snakes and giant spiders, it also seems that he may have very well seen and heard of actual living dinosaurs out there in the badlands of those murky unexplored jungles. Some of these accounts were told to him by others, such as an account he wrote of in a letter in 1919, in which he writes of a strange, dinosaur-like creature supposedly lurking in the jungles of Bolivia, saying:
A friend of mine, a trader in the rivers and for whose honesty I can vouch, saw in somewhere about Lat. 12 S. and Long. 65 W. [Bolivia-Brazil borderland] the head and neck of a huge reptile of the character of the brontosaurus. It was a question of who was scared most, for it precipitately withdrew, with a plunging which suggested an enormous bulk. The savages appear to be familiar with the existence and tracks of the beast, although I have never come across any of the latter myself...These swamps over immense areas are virtually impenetrable.

What exactly was that in the night sky over Wall Township on St. Patrick's Day?

Was it a UFO, or was it something else?

Jeff Wallace, 43, of Wall, would sure like to know. He was driving to pick up his stepdaughter from the Quick Chek on Belmar Boulevard that Saturday night, when he observed three lights in a triangular pattern "moving very slowly" across the sky.

He stopped his vehicle and took several photos of the lights with the camera on his smartphone. The photos are dark; but a triangle of lights is faintly visible.

The Air Force, which commands Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, about 30 miles from Wall as the crow flies (or UFO), looked at the photos; it doesn't know what it was either.

"There's not enough from the photos ... we weren't able to tell," said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Lauren Russell, a spokeswoman for the Joint Base, after copies of the photos were circulated by personnel there.
