For decades, hundreds of people worldwide have been plagued by an elusive buzzing noise known as "the Hum". Some have blamed gas pipes or power lines, others think their ears are faulty. A few even think sinister forces could be at work.

"It's a kind of torture, sometimes you just want to scream," exclaims retired head teacher Katie Jacques.

Sitting in the living room of her home in the suburbs of Leeds, the 69-year-old grandmother describes the dull drone she says is making her life a misery.

Most visitors hear nothing, but to Katie the noise is painful, vivid and constant.

"It has a rhythm to it - it goes up and down. It sounds almost like a diesel car idling in the distance and you want to go and ask somebody to switch the engine off - and you can't."

Date of Sighting: 16th May 2009
Time: 11.30 pm

Witness Statement: There were three orange balls of light that looked like upside down jelly fish at really low level. It was a really still night and the objects were silent. As they disappeared over my neighbour's house, I went out the front to see where they went and another followed at low level. They moved slowly and went higher so the appearance was more like an orange ball. They went over the sea and gradually faded into the distance. Has this been reported by anybody else, we are wandering what it was.

Witness Statement: I was cycling my bike and stopped to watch what I thought were the landing lights of civil aircraft entering the Sudbury hold for finals to Stanstead Airport when I realised these solid very bright lights were approaching the Bury St Edmunds area.

They were traveling faster than a civil jet would at altitude, and were as bright as if not more so than when a satellite is when illuminated by the sun. This is the best way I can describe their intensity. There were four in all, and they "over flew" the Bury St Edmunds area in the direction roughly of the NNE. As they passed over I could see that they appeared to consist of two bright lights very close together. As each "Light" passed over, I also realised that there was a great deal of distance apart of each other - forwards and to the side of each other.

Witness Statement: I saw a bright light in the distance going really fast. And a round circle of smoke - a smoke ring. The light was gone in a second.

I walked outside to smoke a cigarette when I noticed a ghostly white, glowing object to my 2 o'clock position in the sky. It was a triangular craft with windows hovering in one spot.

Once the glow started to fade away the object began moving. After a few minutes, another smaller object flew in and passed right by the slow cruising triangle craft.

This one pulsated a white light in the front and back very brightly. After this one left the area, the black triangle craft turned, and started heading back towards me and my wife.

A large cat-like creature was seen near Glenorie [Australia] recently.

The Star has learned a 12-year-old boy saw the animal one afternoon while he was walking near Old Northern Road.

The boy, who did not wish to be named, ran into a neighbour's house and told the people there he had spotted a black cat and that it was about 1.5 metres high.

"I was walking down the driveway and I heard something in the bushes," he said.

"I saw this massive black thing sitting. It had its tail flicking around. I got a bit scared."

Russia: UFO delays plane from landing at Moscow Airport

Media outlets in Russia are reporting a curious incident that occurred on Saturday, May 16 in the afternoon. A flight from Krasnoyarsk to Moscow had to abort a landing and go around again due to a radar picking up a UFO in the vicinity of runway 25 of Moscow airport.

Aviation authorities are now studying the radar images but have yet to determine what the small craft that was hovering in the area, however was not seen visually, might have been. Russian UFO researchers will no doubt be eagerly awaiting the conclusions of the investigation into this event. In the past UFO activity has been common in the vicinity of Russian airports.

Canada: Northwest London, Ontario - Red Lights Making a Equilateral Triangle

Number of witnesses: 1
Number of Objects: 1 or 3 in formation.
Shape of Objects: Equilateral triangle.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Looked out over house from backyard and noticed 3 diffuse red lights in the south in the form of a triangle. I followed it's movement from about 30 degrees from horizon in south, to about 45 degrees in the north. It was about 15 degrees to the west of where I was standing. I lost sight of it, as it was obscured by a cedar tree in my backyard. It took between 12 to 15 seconds to travel that distance and the triangle had no visible structure to it. The diffuse red patches were about the size of your pinky finger pad held at arms length and had the intensity of a led bulb wrapped in a 1/2 inch ball of wet paper towel.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Upon returning home from a walk with my son we looked up at the hillside of Saddleback Mountain. My son saw a bright glowing blue light on one of the canyon rims. I saw one on another canyon rim to the west. We watched these lights for approximately 40 minutes. As we watched one would fade out then the other would get brighter, then both would go out, then both start glowing again. Toward the end of the 40 minutes they would each split into 4 separate lights and swirl around the hillside then rejoin the glowing blue light.

Description: 3 bright objects in a stack then they would vanish and move to another location could not have been planes they were too close together. They would move out of order one then two would disappear the reappear. Quite a crowd watching outside Acklam Iron and Steelworks Club.
