Waihī Beach residents were evacuated on Monday afternoon after "widespread flooding" that a local councillor said was the highest he'd ever seen.
Civil Defence duty manager Peter Watson said on Monday night that nine people who had been evacuated had been moved to self-contained units in a motorcamp near Bowentown.
Three were from elderly housing units which were flooded, the rest of the residents from the units had found somewhere to stay with family or friends, Watson said.

Security personnel found the body of a man in his 30s who was swept away in flash floods while in his vehicle in the Al Shammia area in northern Aqaba late on Sunday night.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Aqaba Governor Khaled Hajaj on Monday said that a search and rescue team had been formed last night to locate the young man.
The team found the young man's body in the early hours of Monday, Hajaj said.
Italian firefighters say they have recovered four bodies from a northern Italian lake after a tourist boat capsized and sank in a sudden, violent storm.
The boat was reportedly carrying more than 20 people, including a group of foreign tourists celebrating a birthday, plus two crew members, when a whirlwind overturned the vessel on Sunday.
Firefighters said 19 passengers had been saved. Many reportedly managed to swim to shore, or were picked up by other boats after the boat overturned off Lisanza, at the southern end of Lake Maggiore.
The victims include a Russian citizen, an Israeli and two Italians.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded minimum temperatures as low as to -2.7 degrees at Injune Post Office in Queensland.
Records were broken in Hughenden, Queensland, where residents woke up to -1.4 degrees, while Bankstown and Penrith each had their coldest May temperature ever, hitting 0.7 degrees and 0.6 degrees respectively.
Tamworth also recorded its coldest May morning with -4.8 degrees.
At least a dozen people died and several were injured in separate incidents due to heavy rain and thunderstorm in Rajasthan's Tonk district, officials said on Friday.
Accompanied by gusty winds, heavy rain battered several places in the district on Thursday night, leading to the loss of human lives and damage to houses. A thunder squall with a maximum speed of 96 kmph was reported at the Jaipur International Airport.

At least 12 people were killed due to lightning strikes in different parts of Jharkhand over the past two days, an official said on Saturday.
Lightning strikes killed a woman and her daughter at Barwadda area of Dhanbad district, while two people died at Bahragora in Jamdhespur and Chirodih in Gumla district on Friday, the official said.

While eastern Nebraska is begging for rain, parts of southwest Nebraska have seen way too much of it over the last 24 hours.
The National Weather Service has issued several Flash Flood Warnings for portions of Hitchcock, Hayes, and Red Willow Counties. Other Flood Warnings are in effect for parts of Dundy, Chase, Hayes, Hitchcock, Red Willow, and Frontier Counties in Southwest Nebraska.
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms have already produced as much as 5 to 10 inches of rain in the warned areas. Some of those areas may continue to receive additional heavy rainfall.

Reports in the media suggest that at least nine nomads were killed on Saturday and several went missing when a snow avalanche hit them near Shunter Pass of the Astore district of Gilgit Baltistan.

Heavy blizzards and strong dust storms in eastern Mongolia have killed two people, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Saturday.
"A total of 127 people, mostly nomadic herders, went missing in the dust and snow storms that started in the eastern provinces of Sukhbaatar and Khentii on Friday morning, 125 of them have been found alive. Unfortunately, two people have lost their lives in the storms," NEMA said in a statement.
The disastrous weather conditions have caused severe damage to public and private buildings as well as infrastructure facilities such as roads and power lines, and killed a large number of livestock, according to the emergency agency.
The unstable weather conditions are expected to continue through the weekend across large parts of the country, especially eastern and southern provinces, the country's weather monitoring agency said, warning the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters.

More than 290,000 livestock have been killed in the Mongolian provinces of Sukhbaatar and Khentii due to the recent dust and snow storms, local media reported on Thursday.
The overall number of fatalities is however, expected to increase since many livestock still remain still unaccounted for, Xinhua news agency quoted authorities as saying.
