A powerful cold front persisted in battering north China on Saturday, unleashing gale-force winds across the northern regions and bringing heavy rain and snow to the northeast.

On Friday, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued five alerts for gales, sandstorms, torrential rains, blizzards, and severe convective weather. On Saturday, it renewed orange alerts for gales and blizzards, along with blue alerts for sandstorms and severe convective weather.

The NMC issued a yellow alert for blizzards as heavy snowfall continues to affect parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and northeastern regions over the weekend.

Areas in Inner Mongolia and the three northeastern provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang are expected to experience heavy snowfall and blizzards, with some parts of eastern Inner Mongolia and southeastern Jilin likely to see severe blizzards.

At least 50 hippos and other large animals have been killed by anthrax poisoning in Africa's oldest national park, its director has said.

Photos shared by the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo show the motionless animals floating along the Ishasha River. Park officials say they first started appearing last week.

The exact cause of the poisoning is unknown but tests have confirmed the presence of anthrax.

Park director Emmanuel de Merode said work was under way to recover the animals and bury them to prevent further spread, but it was difficult because there were no excavators.

"It's difficult due to lack of access and logistics," he told Reuters news agency.

Climate scam: More non-existent UK weather stations discovered reporting invented data

weather station in Great Britain
© Met OfficeA weather station in Great Britain
Last month the average maximum temperature at Newton Rigg was 11.5°C, the lowest was 3°C, while 23mm of rain fell. Newton Rigg is near Penrith in Cumbria and in its historic database the UK Met Office claims it is an open site and is one of its 380 UK wide temperature measuring stations. This claim is also made in two Met Office lists of site class classification obtained under Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in 2023 and 2024. All of which is rather strange. Newton Rigg closed in 2021 and all the data being published as climate averages are estimated, i.e., invented. The historic database contains 37 stations and seven of the total, no less than 19%, are closed or do not exist. Invented figures are also being supplied for Lowestoft, Cwmystwyth, Nairn Druim, Eastbourne, Oxford and Paisley.

The Met Office claims that monthly data are available for a selection of long-running historic stations and series typically range from 50 to more than 100 years in length. Sunshine data are noted to use a Kipp and Zonen sensor in some sites, while all the others have data recorded by a Campbell-Stokes recorder. All the others, the Met Office omitted to make clear, except those where the figures have been invented for the non-existent stations.

Comment: One way to pump the propaganda:

The most recent figures from the Queensland Department of Primary Industries suggest over 144,000 livestock, mostly cattle, sheep and goats, have been killed by floods.
The most recent figures from the Queensland Department of Primary Industries suggest over 144,000 livestock, mostly cattle, sheep and goats, have been killed by floods.
Farmers in Queensland, Australia have suffered huge losses after floods engulfed over half a million square kilometres of the outback, causing carnage to farms and livestock.

The most recent figures from the Queensland Department of Primary Industries (DPI) suggest over 144,000 livestock, mostly cattle, sheep and goats, have been killed by the floods which were the result of heavy rains across the State.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, some towns had recorded as much as 500mm (20 inches) of rain in the space of a week, which is the typical yearly total for the region.

The devastating floods come a few weeks after Cyclone Alfred did its damage, hitting Queensland's southeast coast and northern New South Wales.

As the floodwaters ease, more realistic figures of the true extent of the damage are likely to increase significantly as more dead livestock are revealed. It is also estimated that 3,183kms of fencing has been impacted, along with 4,076kms of private roads.

Tahoe sky resorts extend season after huge spring storm dumps 4 feet of snow

Kirkwood, USA: 4 April 2025.
Kirkwood, USA: 4 April 2025.
WEST COAST REPORT

Some ski areas around Lake Tahoe were closed midweek last week as the latest atmospheric river from the Pacific brought huge snowfalls but also gale-force winds, making opening difficult and potentially dangerous. By last Thursday, though, reports of up to four feet (1.2m) of snowfall were coming in from the storm cycle, leading some to announce season extensions.

"It's official - we're staying open through Sunday, April 20, following 33" (82cm) of new snow falling during this past storm cycle!" a statement from Kirkwood announced, adding, "All currently open lifts and terrain will remain operational daily through April 13. After that, frontside chairs 5, 6, 10, and 11 will stay open through our new closing day, April 20. Chair 1, Timber Creek, and backside chairs and terrain will close for the season after April 13."

Kirkwood joins Northstar, which also announced an extra week to the 20th. Elsewhere in California, both Palisades Tahoe and Mammoth have said they plan to remain open for almost another two months through to the Memorial Day holiday weekend at the end of May. Since last week's big storms, there have been some light snow showers, but mostly it's been very springlike with warm temperatures.
