Science of the Spirit
"The ability to learn new information and store it for long periods is one of the brain's most remarkable features," said Robert H. Singer, Ph.D., co-corresponding author of the paper. "We've made a startling discovery in mice regarding the molecular basis for making those long-term memories." Dr. Singer is professor of cell biology and in the Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience, chair emeritus of anatomy & structural biology, and director of the Program in RNA Biology at Einstein.
Some aspects of the cellular basis of memory were already known. They're made by neurons (nerve cells) and stored in a brain region called the hippocampus. They form when repeated neural stimulation strengthens synapses — the connections between nerve cells. Proteins are needed to stabilize the long-lasting synaptic connections required for long-term memories. The blueprints for those proteins are molecules of messenger RNA (mRNA) that, in turn, are transcribed (copied) from memory-associated genes.
"The paradox is that it takes a long time — several hours — to form a lasting memory, yet the mRNAs and proteins associated with making proteins disappear in less than an hour," said Sulagna Das, Ph.D., first and co-corresponding author of the paper and research assistant professor of cell biology at Einstein. "How could that be?"
To answer that question, the research team developed a mouse model in which they fluorescently tagged all the molecules of mRNA that flow from Arc, a gene critically important for converting our activities and other experiences into long-term memories. The researchers stimulated synapses in neurons from the mouse hippocampus and then — using high-resolution imaging techniques they developed — observed the results in individual nerve cells in real time.
To their amazement, they observed that a single stimulus to the neuron triggered numerous cycles in which the memory-coding gene Arc produced mRNA molecules that were then translated into synapse-strengthening Arc proteins.
"We saw that some of the protein molecules made from that initial synaptic stimulus go back to Arc and reactivate it, initiating another cycle of mRNA formation and protein production followed by several others," said Dr. Singer.
"With each cycle, we saw more and more protein accumulating to form 'hot spots' at the synapse, which are where memories are cemented into place," said Dr. Das. We'd discovered a previously unknown feedback loop that explained how short-lived mRNAs and proteins can create long-lived memories.
Consider what's involved in memorizing a poem, suggested Dr. Singer: "To make a lasting memory requires that you read the poem repeatedly and each reading can be thought of as an intermittent stimulus that adds memory-building protein to the synapse."
Dr. Das noted that faulty expression of the Arc gene has been implicated in memory difficulties in humans and is linked to neurological disorders including autism spectrum disorder and Alzheimer's disease. "What we learn about Arc's response to nerve-cell stimulation can provide insights into the causes of these health problems," she noted.
The paper is titled "Maintenance of a short-lived protein required for long-term memory involves cycles of transcription and local translation." Additional authors include Pablo Castillo, M.D., Ph.D. and Pablo Lituma, Ph.D. (formerly at Einstein) at Weill Cornell Medical College.

He was a thinker, physicist of theorems, theories and equations. Not a doer as Tesla would say.
Not to be disparaging of your prospects or anything, folks, but good luck with that! You'll need it!
The Ella FitzGerald went down at the Scorpio DEATH Eclipse Nov 3 1975!! IDENTICAL as this WEEK'S!! 😱

Or the case of this 44-year old French civil servant;
" The man led a normal life, had a regular job and a loving family. He always had a low IQ of 75 but was never considered mentally handicapped. The man was unaware of the condition all through his life.
It is unusual for people with little amount of brain matter to barely remain conscious. The fact of being a functioning member of the society is impossible to even imagine.
Axel Cleeremans, a cognitive psychologist from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, stated that “Any theory of consciousness has to be able to explain why a person like that, who are missing 90 percent of his neurons, still exhibits normal behavior. ”

So, how much of our 'self' and our 'memories' are stored 'outside' the grey matter?
.
“We have created society and that society has conditioned us. Our minds are tortured and heavily conditioned by a morality which is not moral; the morality of the society is immorality, beacuse society admits and encourages violence, greed, competition, ambition and so on, which are essentially immoral. There is no love, consideration, affection, tenderness, and the 'moral respectability' of the society is utterly disorderly.
A mind that has been trained for thousand of years to accept, to obey and conform, cannot possibly be highly sensitive and therefore highly virtuous. We are caught in this trap.” ― Jiddu Krishnamurti, You Are the World
The theory does not hold water when you take into account how many people have been diagnosed with micro-encephalitis, or found to have little or no brain matter, yet function (sort of) in society.
Oh, the mysteries of life
Anyone else? Of am I just a freak? I can also remember my first few days of sight, seeing blood vessel lines in my vision.
My earliest memories are sensory based - the lapping of water against a wooden hull, the smell of fish and pine trees and the exhaust from an engine burning a 50:1 gas/oil mixture.
I don't think many people actually try to recall their earliest memories unless they had a happy early life.
The blood vessels in my vision is especially vivid. It was like a web of something covering my vision and then they started to go away almost all at once. I even remember i could see little spots flowing single file through them.
When I was born i remember being squished and it was too fucking bright all the sudden, even though the lights were off in the room. I was a home birth. The doctor was out smoking a cigarette at the time and my dad caught me. He started crying right away. I remember him crying/saying "I have a son".
I also remember getting slapped by my mother for biting her nipples when i was still nursing. I used to bite them and giggle. She got tired of it. I remember drinking out of a bottle. The milk didn't taste near as good.
I remember my aunt and uncle coming to visit when i was like 2 weeks old, and when i cooed everyone thought it was so cute. I have multiple memories of laying on my back cooing in a bassinet whilst the adults were bent over smiling at me.
I remember sitting on santa's lap the first xmas, i was born in august, so i was like 5 months old, and i was wearing this beanie hat that was pissing me off. My sister was wearing a green jacket with white stripes on the cuffs.
I remember there was this one dude who come to find out used to harass my mom while i was still in utero. His voice super duper bothered me and I never liked him. I was always super shy and hid from him. Because i recognized that his voice was what i heard when my mother was becoming antagonized. I remember my dad teaching me how to crawl, I remember getting potty trained, (i was potty trained by 2).
I could go on and on, but these are some of the memories i've reflected upon ever since i experienced them. Like i said it wasn't me as an adult trying to remember stuff.
ive also been accused of being an old soul quite often.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Took me a while to understand why the KJV Bible is the only authority on what happens to our soul at death; it either goes up to the relocated Abraham's Bosom in "paradise" in wait for a resurrected immortal body for Royal duties on the restored earth (after the apocalypse), or it goes down to Sheol (hell) in wait of a final judgment in a different kind of immortal body.
Reincarnation sounds nice until we realize we'd be judged for another person's sins too (one Person took care of that for everyone's sins once and for all). I did (and still do) my fair share of sinning, so I'm not too sure about taking on someone else's spiritual trash as well. However it's quite probable that our "past lives scars" were transmitted somehow via DNA's multidimensional properties (since all past and future time events are already known).
I have some pretty vivid memories from childhood, but nothing going back younger than 3. I can still remember some recurring nightmares I had as a child. I have this one memory of laying on the warm concrete sidewalk and observing the microcosm of ants, lichen, and cliffs and boulders of the concrete world. And since I started taking lion's mane mycelium a couple years back, I can recall smells like I've never been able to before in my life. I remember the childhood voices of my friends I went to school with - which has made me think it strange that anyone could ever forget a parent's voice after they died. I have very strong auditory recall.
though i do believe if you are reincarnated that it is a chance to strengthen ones soul. If you have been reincarnated it most likely means you have done something quite heinous most likely and are being given a chance somehow to heal that scar in your energy so you don't go to hell.
i don't necessarily believe in reincarnation in the buddhist sense. or the hindu sense.
i feel it is probably reserved for special cases.
i know, i am quite the heretic.
People who claim to have lived a past life, might be recalling memories from a distant relative.

This would also explain generational curses.
Exodus 34:7 King James Version
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
We sure are s.l.o.w. 😖
