Secret History
The Faiyum Oasis is a depression in the desert, west of the Nile River, or just 62 miles south of Cairo, Egypt.
Faiyum was known to the ancient Egyptians as the twenty-first nome of Upper Egypt, Atef-Pehu ("Northern Sycamore"). Around the Oasis are the ruins of many ancient villages, and nearby is the Ancient Egyptian city of Crocodilopolis/Arsinoe, which was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek.
Archaeologists from CEI RAS have been excavating a necropolis at Fayoum for several years, revealing burials that date from the 4th century BC until the 7th century AD.
In recent excavations, the researchers found a burial of an 8-year-old child, placed on the remains of 142 dogs in the same grave. Zoologist, Galina Belova, has examined the dogs, concluding that they all died at the same time with no evidence of violence.
Traces of blue clay, which is common in Ancient Egyptian reservoirs, were found on the dog remains, suggesting that they may have been near a water source that flooded, causing them to drown.
As to why the child came to be in the grave is a mystery. It is possible that the child was caring for the animals, but even more confusing is that the child was found with a linen bag placed on their head.
Another burial has been previously found at the necropolis with a similar linen bag placed on the deceased's head, however, this other burial was likely executed and was found with an arrow in his chest.

My initial comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek anyway. Because it reminded me so much of recent "herd of cattle/sheep/whatnot killed by lightning" ...
... the evidence of which would decay with the flesh?Which reminds me - cutting a throat would also leave no trace on the bones once the flesh is decayed.
O r poison. Or a rope ...
Side note: while I have some skepticism about Castaneda, he did introduce me to some useful concepts and terminology. Although as defenders have pointed out, it would be a lot of work to fake what he did, since he was peer reviewed and published by his university, which wasn't big on "woo." The repercussions of getting caught would not have been worth it.
We pray, we talk to Spirit. We shut up, We hear Spirit talk to us. Lolll

Our vision comprehends even if our mind's eye dont.
You are way too hard on yourself Artex. That needs to get ditched cause compassion is to be embraced.
Basically... it had to do with the Amish and a move. Time to sow a seed as of Sunday cause that is definately a winner, regardless of the result of the sowing. Strategy's time has come. Ken n Bezel Bub were only suggestions cause they's aware n ready to roll.
The breeze is blowing. Ready or not.
Nor I am sure how her society viewed dogs. Supposedly not favourable.
And I think the expression "...found the grave..." contains already an unproven assumption. Perhaps he/she/it indulged in inappropriate interactions with those dogs, and was terminated & dumped with them on the local trash heap ...
I've never seen a wild pack of 142 dogs let alone that many in the same place except for a dog show?
How is it a grave? What if its a pit where the preists threw the sacrificed dogs or diseased dogs.
Hood over head, we all know about that. Child may also have been diseased or was a sacrifice to rid the village of the diseased dogs.
Whatever the case, we are crueler to each other and dogs today then back then.
No mention on the type of dog either, weird.
Anubis deity was a an Egyptian Psychopomp (Soul Guide) to the underworld. As above, so below creedo.
Egypt has a very sullied/blurrymuddy/opaque twistorical past. I suspect by design. Anubis (Dog) is a Greek word origin but used by Egypt ? Egypt used “Anpu“ Hmmm.
I know there was way more sociocultural interaction the ancient trade routes than we are indoctrinated to believe. Rome sacked Egypt & Greece & captured the spoils of war Knowledge/Gnosis of those empires. Phoenicians were a maritime Sea faring culture who would have been trading unique items from afar such as a Malta Blushing Dog, Haoma/SOMA/Bhang, Iron, Minerals, Royal Purple Dye for textiles etc. as there was no Fed-Ex/DHL. We know Greece’s schools were top shelf & Pythagoras (the polymath) was traveling himself absorbing & embracing cultures & different schools of thought. [Link] - [Link]
Anubis (/əˈnjuːbɪs/; Ancient Greek: Ἄνουβις), also known as Inpu, Inpw, Jnpw, or Anpu in Ancient Egyptian (Coptic: ⲁⲛⲟⲩⲡ, romanized: Anoup) is the god of funerary rites, protector of graves, and guide to the underworld, in ancient Egyptian religion, usually depicted as a canine or a man with a canine head.
The Pharaoh Hound Origin is Malta - ancient "Blushing Dog" of Malta
is one of several breeds with a legitimate claim of most-ancient breed and appears to have changed little in the last 3,000 years. The breed bears an uncanny resemblance to the jackal god Anubis and to dogs depicted on the tombs of the Egyptian pharaohs, and later, dogs featured in ancient Greek art. Phoenician traders may have introduced the dogs from Greece and North Africa to the islands of Malta and Gozo, where they became essentially secluded from the rest of the world. Here they flourished as rabbit dogs, or Kelb-tal Fenek. The Pharaoh Hound is now the National Dog of Malta. In the 1960s, the breed was rediscovered and imported to England and later America. The AKC recognized it in 1983. [Link] - [Link]
Anubis: Ancient Egyptian Dog-Headed God of the Afterlife Anubis is the Egyptian god who is depicted with the head of dog and the body of a man. Anubis was believed to have presided over the death process and was closely associated with mummification, tombs, cemeteries, dogs and the underworld. The Egyptians believed that at the climax of one’s underworld journey, one would be judged by Anubis and his relative Osiris, Anubis, Egyptian God of the Dead and the Underworld Xolotl – The Underworld Dog God of the Aztecs At the final judgment, Anubis and Osiris would weigh the individual’s heart against the feather of Maat (truth). If their heart was too heavy with selfish/wicked deeds, then their soul would be discarded and fed to a monstrous crocodile god. It’s noteworthy that the mythology of Anubis seems to have suffered a demotion as his cult became eclipsed by that of Osiris. In the oldest versions, Anubis is the son of the solar god Ra, but following the surge in popularity of the Osiris cult, the birth of Anubis was revised, making him the illegitimate son and guardian of Isis. Robert Temple has a theory that the Sphinx was originally Anubis & somewhere in Egypt’s twistory it was modified & redesigned as a Sphinx. I’m leaning that direction the more I research, the more confirmation of that notion.
