Gaza's top Islamic scholar issues fatwa condemning 7 October attack

Hamas's attack on 7 October triggered the war with Israel
The most prominent Islamic scholar in Gaza has issued a rare, powerful fatwa condemning Hamas's 7 October 2023 attack on Israel, which triggered the devastating war in the Palestinian territory.

Professor Dr Salman al-Dayah, a former dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at the Hamas-affiliated Islamic University of Gaza, is one of the region's most respected religious authorities, so his legal opinion carries significant weight among Gaza's two million population, which is predominantly Sunni Muslim.

A fatwa is a non-binding Islamic legal ruling from a respected religious scholar usually based on the Quran or the Sunnah - the sayings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad.

UNICEF: Children the primary victims of Israel's 'scorched earth' in Gaza

Thousands of babies have been left without life-saving care, a spokesperson for the UN's children's agency has told RT.

Nearly 70% of those killed in Gaza as part of Israel's war on the Palestinian militant group Hamas have been children and women, the UN Human Rights Office said in a new report on Friday, released 13 months after the start of the latest hostilities in the enclave.

The document, covering the period from November 2023 to April 2024, states that "justice must be served" for "the grave violations of international law that have been committed."

The three most common age categories among the victims in Gaza have been children aged from five to nine years old, children from ten to 14, and babies and children under four, the UN Human Rights Office wrote.

A massacre within a massacre: How journalists reporting on Gaza deaths are being targeted

In spite of experiencing two Israeli wars on Gaza, I never imagined the horrific scenes coming out of northern Gaza now: Israel is exterminating the population in broad daylight, broadcast for all the world to see.

And no one is doing a damn thing to stop it.

Israel has besieged northern Gaza for weeks, preventing most humanitarian aid from entering, putting the population of 400,000 already starving Palestinian civilians in the north at severe risk of full starvation. The Israeli parliament has voted to ban UNRWA, the United Nations agency for humanitarian aid, which has been the sole lifeline for many Palestinians.

Israeli forces have also bombarded water stations and wells, as well as cutting off communications with the outside world, depriving people of access to water, and leaving them trapped and isolated.

Palestinians will not be allowed to return to homes in northern Gaza, says IDF

Brig Gen Itzik Cohen said in a briefing that aid would only be allowed to enter south of Gaza Strip, not the north. IDF says comments taken out of context.

Israeli ground forces are getting closer to "the complete evacuation" of northern Gaza and residents will not be allowed to return home, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said, in what appears to be the first official acknowledgment from Israel it is systematically removing Palestinians from the area.

In a media briefing on Tuesday night, the IDF Brig Gen Itzik Cohen told Israeli reporters:
"Since troops had been forced to enter some areas twice, such as Jabaliya camp, there is no intention of allowing the residents of the northern Gaza Strip to return to their homes. Humanitarian aid allowed to 'regularly' enter the south of the territory but not the north, since there are 'no more civilians left'."
International humanitarian law experts have said that such actions would amount to the war crimes of forcible transfer and the use of food as a weapon.

Moldovan election wasn't 'free or fair' - Kremlin

Sandu/Stoianoglo

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov believes that the former Soviet Republic's election was not democratic.

The Kremlin has refused to fully acknowledge that Maia Sandu won last weekend's Moldovan presidential election, asserting that the electoral process was neither fair nor democratic.

Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Sandu cannot be seen as the legitimate holder of the office, emphasizing that "the majority of people within Moldova itself did not vote for her." Peskov criticized the Moldovan electoral framework, pointing to what he described as significant procedural irregularities that hindered the voting rights of its citizens residing in Russia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has highlighted that despite an estimated 500,000 Moldovans living in Russia, only a handful of polling stations were made available to them. In contrast, over 200 polling sites were set up in Western states, which allowed for much higher voter accessibility among the diaspora there. This disparity, according to Peskov, "compromises the transparency" of the vote and raises questions about its legitimacy.
"As for Mrs. Sandu, we believe she is not the legitimate president of her country, as most of the population within Moldova did not vote for her."

Whistleblower: 'It's almost unbelievable to think that somebody in the federal government would think that's okay'

A federal disaster relief official ordered workers to bypass the homes of Donald Trump's supporters as they surveyed damage caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida, according to internal correspondence obtained by The Daily Wire and confirmed by multiple federal employees.

A FEMA supervisor told workers in a message to "avoid homes advertising Trump" as they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida to identify residents who could qualify for federal aid, internal messages viewed by The Daily Wire reveal. The supervisor, Marn'i Washington, relayed this message both verbally and in a group chat used by the relief team, multiple government employees told The Daily Wire.

The government employees told The Daily Wire that at least 20 homes with Trump signs or flags were skipped from the end of October and into November due to the guidance, meaning they were not given the opportunity to qualify for FEMA assistance. Images shared with The Daily Wire show that houses were skipped over by the workers, who wrote in the government system messages such as: "Trump sign no entry per leadership."

Comment: FEMA needs a complete overhaul, if not abolishment. It is not fit for purpose.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed loses re-election bid to Levi Strauss heir Daniel Lurie

Lefty city struggling with sky-high crime rates

San Francisco Mayor London Breed lost her re-election bid Thursday night to Levi Strauss heir Daniel Lurie following years in which the liberal city struggled with sky-high crime and deteriorating quality of life.

Breed, whose tenure began in 2017, said she called Lurie to concede the election two days after voters went to the polls in the rank-choice election.

"Being Mayor of San Francisco has been the greatest honor of my lifetime. I'm beyond grateful to our residents for the opportunity to serve the City that raised me," she said in a statement.

Comment: Fortune reports:
Lurie's election underscores residents' dissatisfaction with the status quo in San Francisco, a longtime tech boomtown that's now struggling to recover economically from the pandemic. Lurie, one of three moderate Democrats who ran on the promise to clean up homelessness, open-air drug markets and combat retail theft and other crimes — set himself apart by framing his own narrative as a political outsider.

As one of the wealthiest people to ever run for mayor of the city, he thwarted attacks from opponents who labeled him as a "trust fund kid" for relying on his family's money to self-finance his campaign.

His background proved an asset. As founder of a poverty-fighting nonprofit, Lurie won over voters despite his lack of government experience and a public record on policy issues. He has vowed to tackle corruption, hire more police and build additional homeless shelters.
Good luck to Mr. Lurie. He's going to need it.

Trump's win is a victory for the non-brainwashed Americans

US voters have proven they can still judge reality by what it is, despite all of the establishment's efforts.

Blowout alert! I guess average Americans don't like being infantilized. At least Trump trusted them to be able to take a joke, unlike his opponents.

So when's Liz Cheney's date with the firing squad already? Are we done yet with the anti-Trump fake news now that the majority of voters see through it? Probably not, huh?

With the exception of those in a handful of states, Americans united to send former US President Donald Trump back to the White House and handed him carte blanche with Republican control of the Senate and likely the House as well. Not bad for a guy the establishment tried to brand as the reincarnation of Hitler. Did Hitler also have giant Israeli flags at his Madison Square Garden rally? Or hang out at the Jewish wall in Israel or with Hebrew-inscribed tablets in a yarmulke? That should have been the Democrats' first sign that their branding attempt was off. Yet, just like the fitting title of the upcoming Harris biography co-authored by Chelsea Clinton: She Persisted.

Woke bloodbath: Leftist movements are paying the price for their arrogance

If you thought Kamala Harris was a sure win in 2024, then you haven't been paying attention to the epic shift in the cultural zeitgeist over the past few years. The thing that bothers me most about political and social analysis is dealing with people who foolishly assume nothing ever changes. Things change all the time. People can and do learn from the past. Nothing is hopeless, and nihilists are lazy and incompetent.

For example, since 2020 within liberty movement circles there has been a contingent of naysayers claiming that red states were being subversively "turned blue" by leftists relocating during the pandemic. My argument was that this was an idiotic take.

Yes, there were mass relocations across the US but all the data showed the vast majority of these people were conservatives seeking to escape blue state tyranny. I can't tell you how many "experts" tried to argue with me that Texas, Florida, Idaho, and even my state of Montana were all going to be overrun by progressives. In the aftermath of the election I was once again proven right and they were utterly wrong.

Florida was an absolute landslide for conservatives. It wasn't even close and I doubt that state will ever come close to being blue again. The same happened with Texas, Idaho, Montana, etc. There was no blue wave. It didn't exist. It was actually a red wave.
