Black American residents of Baltimore, Maryland, are now blaming a lower police presence for the city's soaring murder rate despite three years of Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists insisting that police be pulled from their neighborhoods.

Baltimore has now experienced higher murder rates for three years in a row after riots and BLM-sponsored protests began rocking the city after the death of Freddie Gray, a suspect who died in police custody in the spring of 2015, National Public Radio (NPR) reported.

Since the riots, police morale has collapsed, and city officials began planning a lighter police footprint in response to complaints of residents and protest leaders.

Israeli occupation military court charges Ahed and Nariman Tamimi with "assault", "threatening a soldier"

Palestinian teen and youth activist Ahed Tamimi, 16, whose arrest and detention by the Israeli occupation military has drawn worldwide attention, was charged in an Israeli military court with multiple allegations on Monday, 1 January. Her mother, Nariman, was also charged with several allegations related to the Tamimi family's anti-occupation organizing and expression; the detention of both Ahed and her mother was extended for an additional eight days, until next Monday, when the military court will convene again.

Ahed was charged with "assault" for slapping an Israeli occupation soldier outside of her home in Nabi Saleh - after the soldier slapped her - and for "threatening a soldier...interfering with a soldier in carrying out his duties, incitement, and throwing objects at individuals or property." Nariman Tamimi was charged with "incitement" on social media for streaming Ahed's encounter with the occupation soldiers at the family home in Nabi Saleh on Facebook Live and for her other political expression on social media, as well as assaulting soldiers. The Tamimi women and their family are leaders in the anti-colonial land defense and popular resistance movement in the Palestinian village of 600. The village is surrounded by the illegal settlement of Halamish, which has stolen the village's land and even its spring.

The incident itself took place shortly after Mohammed Tamimi, 14, Ahed's and Nour's cousin, was shot by an Israeli occupation soldier invading their village with a rubber-coatled metal bullet. Mohammed was in a medically induced coma in critical condition for several days and is now released from the hospital after a six-hour operation by seven surgeons on his face and head.

Comment: Just watch the RT clip above for a textbook example if Israeli hysteria. Israelis are the original SJWs - identity politics, eternal victim mentality, crocodile tears, and somewhat batshit crazy. Those evil Palestinians just have no heart. How dare those kids throw rocks at the most moral army in the world. All Israel wants is to steal their land, starve their families, tear down their homes, block them from getting medical care, kill their fathers, arrest their brothers and sisters, ruin their livelihoods, cut down their olive trees, steal their water, build Jewish-only colonies, Jewish-only roads, and have a little peace and quiet. Oh world, Is it so much to ask? Where are you? Does no one feel the plight of the Israelis?

Virgin Trains has apologized "unreservedly" for replying to a sexism complaint with even more sexism. The rail company mocked a woman on Twitter after she complained about being called "honey" by a member of staff.

Passenger Emily Cole tweeted: "When Virgin Trains mess up and the older male train manager in the resulting conversation dismisses you with that hideously patronising word women shudder at in contexts such as these: 'honey.'"

Four people have been injured following explosions of illegal pyrotechnic devices in Turin, Italy, which were hidden in rubbish bins during New Year celebrations. A police search discovered 12 more hidden explosive devices.

The city of Turin, known for its refined architecture and cuisine, celebrated the arrival of 2018 with a massive street festival, with thousands of partygoers gathering in Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Castello. Amid the festivities, some locals managed to sneak homemade pyrotechnics into the area despite a city-wide ban enforced by the local police.

At least four people were injured in La Falchera, on the northern outskirts of the city, after three homemade explosive devices went off in rubbish bins shortly after midnight in Via Delle Querce, La Stampa reported. Two Moroccans and two Italians were injured from the debris in the explosion. While none of the injuries are life-threatening, the blast was so powerful that it damaged four parked cars and shattered windows in about 30 surrounding houses, Italian media reported.

Free Syrian Army announces 'Operation Room' alliance with Al-Qaeda affiliates, child beheaders, and other jihadists

Free Syrian Army
With the Syrian Army launching an offensive to liberate the jihadist-held Idlib province in Syria's northwest, the Free Syrian Army and jihadist forces have announced the formation of a new Operation's Room to deal with the oncoming government forces, according to opposition activists.
In a matter of only a few days, the new Syrian Army operation has liberated swathes of territory and numerous towns and hilltops in the provinces southeast countryside.

This has forced all opposition forces, "moderates" and jihadists alike, to join forces to counter this new threat to their radical Islamist rule over the province, according to opposition sources.

Comment: 'Operation Room' is an appropriate name. That's where they're headed...if they're lucky.

"Institutional racism" and police budget cuts are at the heart of the staggering wave of knife crime in British cities, a former senior Metropolitan Police officer has claimed. Four young men were killed in London over New Year.

Former senior investigating officer Peter Kirkham blamed Theresa May's government for "ignoring" the record rate of knife crime in inner cities, which he says are "not white and well-off" but predominantly made up of "poor, black and minority ethnic people."

"I really don't understand why they are not treating this as the emergency that it is. It is a public disaster happening in slow motion in front of our eyes," Kirkham said in an interview with Sky News on Monday.

At least 9 people were killed and some 100 were arrested overnight as unrest across Iran entered a sixth day, Iranian media said. The country's supreme leader accused "enemies of Iran" of orchestrating the demonstrations.

Among those killed were six protesters who had attempted to steal guns from a police station in the town of Qahdarijan, Iranian state TV said, as cited by AP. Another two people were killed in the town of Khomeinishahr, and the ninth fatality was a member of Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard in the town of Najafabad.

The overall death toll after six days of unrest has reached 20 people, according to state TV.

About 450 people have been arrested in the last three days, security deputy governor of Tehran Ali Asghar Nasserbakht told ILNA news agency. About 100 of them were arrested on Monday, he added.

Pro- and anti-government demonstrations have been taking place in Iran since Thursday. Economic hardship and alleged corruption mostly prompted the anti-government rallies.
