Thinking undangerously is the first step in the triumph of formalism over substance, theater over politics, and the transformation of politics into a form of celebrity culture. The refusal to think works in the service of a form of voicelessness, which is another marker of what it means to be powerless. Within this moral and political vacuum, the codes, rhetoric, and language of white supremacy is on the rise wrapped in the spectacle of fear-mongering and implied threats of state repression. In this instance, emotion become more important than reason, ideas lose their grip on reality, and fashion becomes a rationale for discarding historical memory, informed arguments, and critical thought.
Americans occupy a historical moment in which it is crucial to think dangerously, particularly since such thinking has the power to shift the questions, provide the tools for offering historical and relational contexts, and "push at the frontiers...of the human imagination.
Thoughtfulness, the ability to think reflectively and critically is fundamental to radical change and a necessity in a functioning democracy.

Bill Clinton "rape" protesters were pushed and shoved during two Florida rallies on Tuesday.
Clinton was speaking in Fort Myers, Florida Tuesday afternoon when a man wearing a "Hillary for Prison" t-shirt began shouting "rapist" as Clinton was talking.
As Clinton stopped talking, the camera panned to show the protester being shoved by a Hillary supporter. He could be seen struggling to maintain his footing.
On Monday, a man wearing a Bill Clinton "RAPE" t-shirt was positioned behind Hillary during a rally in Detroit, Michigan. Video showed him tumbling down the stairs as campaign personnel attempted to force him out of the venue. (starts at 0:17)
